Robyn, all I want to say after watching this is THANK YOU JESUS. I've heard great talks, watched great documentaries, but what makes your presentation so infinitely powerful is the fact that its real, passionate, and personal. I'm sharing this as far and wide as I can.

Robyn O'Brien you have done an Incredible job here. You have a extremely wonderful talent of clearly explaining what's going on with our Food supply and the effects it's havein on our health. Thank You so much for stepping up and Speaking out on these Highly Toxic Poisons! I would love to figure out a way for you to speak on this subject here in Kansas City, MO.

Thanks Robyn, for your passion. As a student at Integrative Nutrition, I am on your journey and learning and growing in my passion for true health! We have a small farm that we had to pay over $1000 to get certified organic and have not even sold one piece of fruit this year, due to so much late rain! It is so scary to think what type of country our children will live in, the government needs to get it's priorities straight. Keep on!

Robyn, you are so inspirational! My four year old has a gluten and dairy intolerance. His intolerance resulted in his little body producing excess mucous, resulting in frequent, severe asthma attacks. Now that he eats gluten-free and dairy-free food he's been so much healthier. We all need to think about what we're buying and eating to make sure our money supports proper, conscious food suppliers. It's the least we can do for ourselves and our children!

WOW! Robyn O'Brien is an excellent speaker. I have had the discussion with my much younger wife many times regarding food and diseases. Some how it just doesn't make sense to me. My wife thinks perhaps I'm over analyzing? This video by Robyn O'Brien just confirms my beliefs, suspicions, and theories.
**Why does the cost of eating healthy (no pesticides, chems) cost more?** Either way you will pay. Either higher prices for Organic or more trips to the hospital, doctor for medication. It really is a shame what this country has become $$$$

As a European I feel for you. The companies with the help of the government tried to implement this into our farming and marketing, but we got out on the streets and told them that either Monsanto is going, or they. And we are not even that united. You are Americans, fight for your rights damn it.

I love Robyn because she was someone who originally didn't care until it happened to her. I believe in this because i've seen the data on the shifting of personel between monsanto and the FDA to keep these problems going. I would love to know tho what do we buy to avoid these chemicals once and for all. where do we get our food if it is in almost everything and still maintain a sensable budget?

This explains so much! No wonder Auto-Immune conditions are on the rise! Last year my body basically shut down and I was allergic to absolutely everything! Western medicine wasn't even equipped to help me. I tried everything and ended up at a Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor. It's been amazing I'm highly sensitive to any chemically processed foods. There also has been a huge increase with infertility as a result, it's very frustrating!

Stand up for your rights as an American consumer and stop purchasing any GMO product. Support you local organic farmers, farmers markets and anyone trying to make a difference in this issue. Organic whole food may seem more expensive, but you'll save in health care costs down the road.

  • @NeilCannon80

An amazing presentation. Thank you. I'm writing a book right now in which I talk about the effects of GMOs on we human beings, GMO corn and grains fed to animals which we eat, rBGH (the growth hormone injected into cows in the US), farmed fish, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides etc. These are all endocrine (hormone) disrupters. The list is endless. I'm from England and I hear more and more about how people suffer over here (US where I am now) due to the really poor food supply. The sad thing is that everything comes down to bottom dollar. If the country were healthy, the US economy would suffer. There is no money in health. There is, however, lots of money in drugs to treat these illnesses which can be avoided with clean eating. There's lots of money from 'Big Food' corporations and fast food "restaurants" selling "food" (it isn't food, let's be honest) no human being should consuming. I expect Monsanto's tax bill is rather hefty too. We are conditioned by gigantic ad campaigns on the part of Big Food Corps and Pharma giants. Most, if not all, chronic diseases can be avoided and even reversed by switching to real food, clean eating, which isn't modified in any way and steering clear of anything processed. We need to start voting with our dollar, making smarter food choices.
If you haven't watched GMO OMG, watch that. It's a real eye opener too. And Food Matters, Sick, Fat And Nearly Dead, Food Inc and Forks Over Knives. There are lots!

Neil add Dr. Zoe Harcombe (Your countryman) ... she completely destroys food recommendations ... Scientifically and Historically ...
Dr. Pamela Peeke ... Hyper-palatable Foods ... addictions
We are turning off the immune system with a poor diet. The body favors short-term survival over long-term health. This trade-off accelerates aging-associated diseases, such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, immune dysfunction, and cognitive decline. High carbohydrate diets shut down the bodies own antioxidant defense genes.
Dr. Ames - Triage Theory ... which is what I practice along with LCHF ... works perfectly ...

    • @NeilCannon80
      @NeilCannon80 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Hi Carroll, thank you for your reply. I'll check her out. I'm a big believer (knower, let's be honest) that the media has a MASSIVE part to play in terrible dietary recommendations and the illness and disease maintenance culture in which we live. I turned off the news about 4 years ago and all I can say is it enabled me to discover the truth. Like you, I live LCHF, avoid gluten, most other grains and stick to real, clean, organic, wholesome nutritious (and delicious) food, making organic veggies the majority part of my diet. There has been so much conditioning it's extraordinary on the part of big food and pharma - who pretty much run the media.. I hear you about turning off the immune system. People are getting sick left right and centre thinking it's normal. It's not. That's a clear sign of a suppressed immune system. The solution in terms of the action we need to take is actually quite straight forward, the psychology is the most challenging part...
      "70 going on 100" - LOVE it!!

Whether she is correct is not, we each have a right to know what we are eating. Beside GMOs not being labeled, there is a chemical process in creating oils but the chemical is not required to be listed, neither is the wax on fruits and vegetables. Some people react to the less than 2% item in a food product that is not required to be listed. If this personal account does not move you pay attention to how many people around you are overweight, lethargic, have mood swings, have recurring health issues, or just complain and don't feel as well as they should. GMO? Maybe, maybe not but no one can deny the fact (unless you are clueless) that our bodies are a series of chemical actions and reactions. Everything we put in them effects them.

Great talk. Hard to ignore the correlation between the introduction of GMOs and the rise in children's allergies to food. The behavior of Monsanto and other corporations is truly a crime against humanity. Hard to ignore the correlation between our "free market capitalist" system and this kind of behavior. What else should we expect? This system is the root cause of the problem, and it has to go.

Of course I have done my research as GE is one of the amazing achievements we have seen in science the past few decades. It should be the financial responsibility of those products who want to claim not being GE to label their products. Why wouldn't they if they feel it is important to their customers?

Very good and helpful information. I Just Feel this is not an American issue it is a global one. 250 million acres of gennetically modified corn are to be planted in Mexico this 2013. So please lets keep this a global issue not a ¨patriotic¨ one. Plants, water, air are everyones . It is important to understand why France does not even want it in its soil.

I’ve known about the food we throw away for many years, long before COVID. That’s why when the “shortages” started, I dug really deep to find out why, and it turned out that government was requiring producers/farmers to destroy large numbers of crops and cattle, DURING a shortage. There were ways to get that food on the family dinner table, but rather than come up with solutions to feed those who were REALLY starving, they chose the “easiest” way and destroyed. I do not and will never trust the “shortage” mantra, now that I know while they warning us of shortage; they’re literally destroying food. Not only that, claiming shortage makes those who can, buy more than they need and waste enough to feed millions of people. Don’t always trust what you hear in the news, but DO question what it is you’re NOT hearing.

It's about the disregard for human value. Money, which was intended as an extension of human value, has come to have value unto itself. A value perceived as higher than human value. This can only occur through selfish thinking, which is based on the perception of separation, an individual being separate from all other people, and the planet. Until enough people see our Oneness, human value will be far down the list for many who act in selfish greed, to feel good!

  • @WickedTwizt

I hope you all will share this with your friends. This is good information and I agree with @rawrebecca that the problem is many, many people DO NOT know any of this. I feel it is our duty to share this with those that have no clue. Not all will change right now, but the more we let everyone know the more will eventually be able to open their eyes to what the government is allowing in our food systems with no human trials.

I am contending that they have played a large role in weakening our children's immune systems, along with a toxic food supply and other modern "conveniences". My own son experienced a Th1->Th2 shift in his immune function after a series of 4 live-virus vaccinations. It took several years for his immune system to stabilize.

In addition to that, I do believe that the CDC only counts death directly caused by the cancer, and not those who die of weakness during or after treatment, which is a whole lot. I understand "whole lot" is not a reference, but you are free to message me for it.

This video has lots of information. In fact it has an excess of correlation = causation. Just because we have cancer and cancer kills that has no bearing on GMOs. Healthcare cost may be high, but what does that have to do with GMO foods specifically? What GMO food, on a case by case basis, is adding to that cost? "GMOs are bad" may be right but little of the data here supports her conclusions.

I don't listen to Monsanto, and I believe in things like enriching the cassava plant. Maybe Monsanto is just trying to make money, but there are non-corporate producers of GMOs that are actually doing the "feed the world" thing and trying to make crops that are less harmful to the earth and things like that. Maybe your anger should be at the corporations and not GMOs in general. The idea is a good one and can definitely help.

Apparently we should just let all of our science be accomplished by business school grads. There isn't a single bit of real science in this video. It may be so that GMOs are problematic, but this is definitively not the way to demonstrate that. Nobody commenting this understands how the advancement of scientific ideas actually works.

We are turning off the immune system with a poor diet and humans have spent the last 200 years making it sweeter and more palatable. The body favors short-term survival over long-term health. This trade-off accelerates aging-associated diseases, such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, immune dysfunction, and cognitive decline. High carbohydrate diets shut down the bodies own antioxidant defense genes.

Wow that was strong. Do you care if she's right? Do you care if her methods are sound at all? Correlation studies just scare the public, and that's ALL she's done here. Your intuition is that GMO's are bad. I am, indeed a biochemist. The reason I support GMOs is that there really is no other way we can go about feeding the world's population in a safe way. I care about poor people, you care about rich people's sensibilities. And as far as we know, nobody has a soul.

My intestines are all but shot at this point...I have internal and external hemmoroids, I literally cannot go to the restroom and I'm so mad ...and it's all because of gluten...I literally don't want to eat anymore...

After all the comparisons to the rest of the world, you show a label for salad dressing containing GM soybean ingredient, that was produced in The Netherlands.

Because they can be sued for it unless they actually pay for the Non GMO Verified label, which costs, a lot. If you need sources, you can look up the Veggie libel laws for example, or, on a slighlty different subject the Kevin Law.

Great Insights! First of all Industrializing, the food production itself is a very bad idea. Food should not be treated as a commodity as it is holy as any other thing.

(cont.) to clearly demonstrate the dangers and harm of GMO produce for our health, farm animals, plants and soil micro-organisms. What's interesting to me is that scientists like you always come from the same angle - "if you understood the science you would not be fearful of GMOs" and "it's the only way to feed the world". None of those presuppositions are valid, and the second is just plain factually wrong.

When you use techniques to actually modify plants and a new protein is formed you have to do trials to make sure the new protein isn't or doesn't have long or short term health effects. The best of intentions could have devastating results.

A lot of post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacious thinking going on here. Not much actual thinking in reality.
For instance, is she actually going to maintain that food allergies didn't exist before the mid-90s, or that organic soy is actually less allergenic than GM soy?
There really is very little science backing up most of her claims, much less the wild leaps with conclusions she derives from the statistics she spouts. Thankfully, TED is starting to be much more selective about who presents.

The food industry continues to spend millions of dollars ensuring States do NOT pass laws which require appropriate labeling. Why that's even 'vote worthy' vs required to begin with is dumb, but they continue to win at the ballot box! Our Legislators have failed in all areas of the national food supply, all of our legislators, lobbyist dollars we can thank for that.
