Also, that the licking is to remove the scent of the birth and to make momma and baby more recognizable to find each other in the larger herds. They are beautiful! I like it better when moms are left a lone allowed to get up and clean their foals. There is plenty of time for them to be fed grain after. Foal looks like it's lightning up after it drys.

Hi, I watched the birth of Belle Uniek last night b4 I went to bed (England) & wonder what problems were with nursing. Foal tongue-tied, perhaps? Anyway, I'm pleased to see the full birth process at Homestead Horsemanship, without pixellating because TH-cam can't understand that birth IS a bit bloody!
