What about using slice forehand approach shot for this ball? This seems like an advanced shot for 4.0 level. He has to hit this ball really well to not leave himself in poor position for the volley, especially if he hits it crosscourt to cover the down the line. Also drivimg it with pace robs him of time to get into met position?@@IntuitiveTennis
@@The4.0GuyI agree. In a clinic I took they taught us to hit it to the body, to reduce the angle. I feel most of the times that is spot on, unless the court is really opened and the rival is not fast.
@@elchanclascocina yeah that sounds good too so you have a better chance of getting it in and not hitting it wide. Basically this is a tough ball to play and if your opponent thinks he can run fwd and hit this shot up and over the net with pace i think he loses the point 7 out of 10 times
This duo is very interesting and you can learn a lot. Good coach, good player trying to learn and imrpove. I liked the video before i watched it to be honest.
It is not easy to display your difficulties and shamir does that to the benefit of thousands of people that may have the same difficulties he has. Bravo shamir
Way to go Nick and Shamir❤. Discomfort always strikes as soon as I leave the base line😅. Honestly have no idea what is more difficult mid court sitters or low forehands. Thank you for this video guys.
Thanks for another great vid. It's very useful. I've definitely gotten better at this shot but haven't really implemented the double hop strat. I kinda try to get there asap and make sure I hit it cleanly cross court, but it lacks power sometimes because I'm being too safe
Great lesson Nik! I notice the arm sleeves on you. Great idea. What do you think of a video telling people how you prepare to play in extremely hot weather conditions? These days anywhere you go the sun is INTENSE and there are not many indoor courts in most places. You must play outside a lot and have to prepare to perform optimally. Keep the great work. Thank you.
My lordship tennis has evolved i honestly think Jannik is playing tennis at a very unprecedented levels if only he had not been dealing with contamination problems he would have barely lost any match this year if he wins the appeal in cas you will see an unbeatable tennis machine in Jannik .
Random, but at 5:10, you made a lightbulb go off in my head. I've always heard that drill be called "karaoke", but "carioca" which is an adjective for someone/something from Rio de Janeiro, makes a lot more sense. I'm not sure if it's the capoeira movement or samba that it's imitating, but either of those makes way more sense than "karaoke". I imagine over time the game of telephone happened and "carioca" became "karaoke" because people are much more familiar with the second term.
interesting video I only play 4.0 now but unless the ball sits up, I have found the better approach shot is a forehand slice. Seems like at a 4.0 or higher players loves the pace and topspin to hit passing shots
Agree 100%. If you slice it is easier tk.keep your body moving forward since follow through is not as much across the body. Also it is easier to scoop up the low ball with a continental grip and finally ypu don't have to chamge your grip to deal with the volley that is comimg next. I also find guys would much rafher hot a passing shot off a.hard hit topsin ball than a slow ball staying low with slice
Good lesson. Vexing situation testing mobility. Move sideways through the ball, full vertical stroke. I'll hit low shots, especially wide serves, to opponents with a Western grip as it seems they need an extra step and have difficulty getting under the ball. Is it a good idea in order to hit your shot to change to a more Eastern grip?
Any chance you could do a new video on short balls that fall midcourt and bounce shoulder or higher with Anna, a basic tutorial, turning to the side, getting racquet back, footwork, etc, especially when crushing them long.
@@IntuitiveTennis Thanks, the last 2-3 minutes of the video above would be a great lesson to show, recognizing short ball, approach footwork, spacing, not running through it, you cover it briefly but would be good to get a comprehensive lesson on approaching from baseline and using placement and using power to put those away.
I am a little surprise both you and your student approach with open stance. I really have a hard time getting the spacing right with open stance when approaching, thus having to turn side ways to have a little more wiggle room. Would much prefer open stance if I can for better angles. Any tips on getting the spacing right with open stance?
This shot is a little bit like ping-pong hit. It's my best shot maybe because of I'm faster to net net than to sides. I think that for down-the-line hit Shamir needs to go not so close for the ball because of then always he passes the ball slightly to center then along the line.
The shorter the ball the “wristy-er” the hit . Percept 97H doesn’t help … too much of a racquet at this level . I undestand the will of the coach letting the player choose the stick he likes but there’s no way taht this racquet helps Shamir at his level more than feeling “stable”

Master and apprentice! I am HORRIBLE at this shot.. (Need to lose some weight too) so these tips are extremely helpful.

Great video! Please do this for the backhand side also
Hate when pickleball lines ruin the tennis court
I saw painters tape used for lines, which I appreciated. Easy cleanup, no permanent ugly lines making it hard to call serves for tennis.
@@TheBCninja I have seen non painters tape, leaves gummy substance on the court. Pickleball is the worst.
Slowly on the tenniscourt will dissappear 😢
En general he has to bend more on his knee to execute better the short low balls
Any game that has a 'kitchen' is for women only

Shamir is so cool
Sometimes the forehand slice can be your best friend.
Shamir is looking really good in those rallies! How far is he from 4.5?
He was 4.5 in the earlier videos some years ago, I feel he is close to that level. Glad he overcame the injuries.

Nike needs to name those the Shamir model shoes.

I also struggle with this
Great video
❤❤
However, I remember you telling Shamir to finish the swing on the same side.
What’s the difference?😊
Depends how low the ball is, same side can help lift the ball and keep it inside the baseline

yep this is tricky shot
Shamir preparing for “vs Ema: Rematch of the Rematch”.
I do too, thanks
Deceptively tricky shot
0:15, that is the rich man's laugh

I'm using percept too, what string and tension you use samir?
Watch the

yo i just posted about this on reddit the other day, i got rekt by low short balls like this
Wasn't Shamir a 4.5?
Poor guy was demoted! 😢😂
Shamir is a loyal Yonex customer 😮
I just hit it like Rafa whilst running and hope for the best 😂
Poor shamir demoted to 4.0 hope he reaches 5.0 one day you can do it
Classic shot. Becker would hit low, short and soft down the middle, come in and dare opponent to pass him.
I just lost a match because of this shot. 😢
why not just push the ball somewhere?

You should grow a moustache
Shamir talk less and breathe more.
