  • Bagur Navile Tunnel is the longest water tunnel in india, constructed between 1979 and 1990 is located between bagur and navile village of Chennarayapatna taluk of Hassan district, Karnataka.
Length of the tunnel is 9.7 km, 75 to 200feet Deep under the ground.Water is supplied from Hemavathy basin to Shimshabasin using this tunnel.Estimated cost of this tunnel is 50Crore.
The water tunnel created between Bagur and Navile in Chennarayapattana taluk of Hassan district is the second longest water tunnel in Asia. With an intention to supply 25 TMC water to Tumkur from the Hemavati dam, a channel was created in 1979 from Gorur to Bagur in Chennarayapattana taluk covering a distance of 50 km. However, a 10 km stretch in the midway was elevated and therefore a plan was chalked out to create a tunnel from Bagur to Navile to facilitate the supply of water. This tunnel has been dug to a depth of 150 ft. under the ground, even as the depth is about 300 ft. at some locations. The tunnel runs for about 10 km from Bagur and opens near Navile village. As a result of creating this tunnel, several drought-stricken villages are now getting water.
