As an equipment manager I am taking care of all helmets and pads of my Team. But for developing my skills and knowledge, I'd love to work there!!! Just great!
way back in my padded years (last was 98) my school used discarded yet still within expiry limit equipment bought from other schools, and each of us had to recondition and recertify our own helmets and pads, all done at home with whatever resources we had. Part of our preseason duties consisted in deconstructing, "sanitizing", sanding (all by hand), repainting, applying decals (for which we had to pay), and plasti-dipping peeled facemasks. As for shoulder pads, some had to pay a seamstress and some were helped by their parents to replace/repair damaged foam and sew the tears, also we drilled out worn or corroded rivets and replaced them with fitting hardware store bought aluminum rivets, and less skilled or resource lacking teammates even replaced rivets with screws and nuts dipped in lock-tite. as a result our equipment looked all but uniform, all helmets had different sades of white, decals were not uniformly applied and facemasks were a variety of colors...but then again when you pay for your stuff the coach can´t demand much....
Are there different levels of reconditioning? We get our helmets back every year and the just put a sticker in them. They are never buffed, hardware is loose and still broken and they look exactly the same. Just curious if there are different levels you have to pay for to get more things done to them.
Is there a reason why college football teams and nfl teams use the revo speed classic as opposed to the revo speed with the overliner? Is there any difference in the two products other than the overliner?
cakmirraco5star bc they had the old ones before the new ones. do research. fyi they don't use new helmets right away. and it's how it feels to the player
We understand - though over time those scratches can decrease the protection offered by your helmet. Not to mention that getting your helmet reconditioned at least every two years is part of the "proper care" statement in the Riddell helmet warranty.
A helmet cannot be sold if it is not certified, so as long as you buy a Riddell product directly through Riddell or through one of our retail partners then you have NOCSAE certified equipment. You do have to get it re-certified AT LEAST once every two years though.
How do you take the padding out in the inside of the speed flex helmet ????? It’s stank and dirty and needs to be clean how can I remove it to clean it ????
It depends on what parts you need replaced. We generally tell people to expect $50-75 unless they have damage to parts like the liner - then the cost goes up.
In-season those make sense - even if you shouldn't be hitting with the helmet - because of the nature of the game. But reconditioning between seasons is more than just a buff & shine on the outside. Also, not getting your helmet reconditioned at least every two years violates your helmet's warranty.
Hi my father recently passed 😢& left me his semi pro helmet 🪖 it’s in pretty bad shape @ I’m looking to get it reconditioned. What’s your contact info?
So I am curious how to tell the helmet shell production date on the VSR4s? Previous models had a dime size crown date code represented in numbers but on the VSR4s that I have seen, the crown date code is still there but instead of numbers, it is designated in letters. Any help would be appreciated.
Can you add cardinal to the list of colors that a helmet can be in the build and buy a helmet section? I would like to buy a helmet but it isn't in my high schools color.
Do they do this in to highschool equipment because at JHON T HOGGARD our stuff is REALLY OLD and rundown looking, and how can I order q helmet from you guys
If you already have the proper liner for your existing helmet then our Consumer Services group can walk you through installation. If you need a new liner then you can send the helmet in for reconditioning and they will add/replace the liner with an additional service charge. Email us @ ConsumerServices@riddell.com for more support.
While some of our customers have found ways to make that work, we don't recommend it. Each helmet was designed, tested and NOCSAE certified for use with it's own specific liner/pad system - after market modification of those elements becomes a potential protection issue and also violates your helmet's warranty.
Please email us at consumerservices@riddell.com regarding the service you received with your reconditioning order - we'd like to get to the bottom of this. One note regarding your chin strap - reconditioning policy states that all chinstraps, visors/eyeshields & mouthguards need to be removed prior to shipping any helmets - these items will not be reconditioned and Riddell Sports is not responsible for their return.
I sent my speedflex that was brand new and never used(bought the wrong color) in to get reconditioned and when it came back it had a different facemask and parts that were clearly used and some even not functional. Not cool when I paid $500+ for the helmet.
schutt helmets are used by my team and we had 1 conucssion this year. tell your coach to get some new and safer drills and stop being an idiot. wer also went 9-1
So many concussions and traumatic brain injuries under the Riddell brand. It’s time to let motorcycle helmet companies like Arai and Shoei design football helmets were they use real scientist and state of the art technology.

You can't mass clean the helmets with over liners sine you have to hand wash them, waste of time lol
cakmirraco5star It's just personal preference really. I've seen many players use the regular revolution speed

I like the old Riddell RK helmets.

Ho long would the while process take for reconditioning and a new color
in the reconditioning they also repair air leaks?
If you buff the shell in order to remove dings and scratches, wouldn't the helmet shell itself become thinner over time?

Yes, all helmet models can be reconditioned and we are rolling out face mask repainting services this year.
Hi my father recently passed 😢& left me his semi pro helmet 🪖 it’s in pretty bad shape @ I’m looking to get it reconditioned. What’s your contact info?

There are several. We match up the paint job to an individual team's color combination.
how much does it cost to reconditiong?

I want to paint my helmet crimson where could i get it painted?!?!
can u get a single helmet reconditioned?
I have a riddel revo speed helmet how do I send it in, and can they paint the helmet
The biggest difference is the shell material - the Youth helmets have an ABS plastic shell where Varsity use a polycarbonate material.
Can a helmet still be reconditioned if it has been painted with aftermarket paint?
Cole Henry yes, unless the paint was not certified. if you or someone else spray painted it, it won't be
