My 16 yo asked if he could show me a song, then played this for me. Needless to say, tears ensued. I asked what the song meant to him. He said, “It’s relatable. We struggle sometimes, but I appreciate everything you do for me. I just love you.” (He is in music theater, writing a musical for his Capstone project.)
Days like this are a soothing balm for a struggling mom. So thank you for being the method by which a teenage boy can communicate to his mother, in a way she can hear it.

I grew up poor, I self studied software development in my bedroom throughout my twenties with no degree. Now I’m in my thirties making good money working in the industry. My mother has been very supportive throughout my journey, and I only now realize I don’t have any recollection of my twenties but waking up and coding in front of my monitor. It only hit me how hard the journey was, and I cried the first time in my thirties.
