Discovered this in highschool I'm 28 years old now and still love it. Always have been fascinated with India in general to the point I think I must have been born there in a past life. I'm a little swedish Mexican mix girl but this song is so beautiful I had to learn every word to sing along. Her voice is amazing I could never get close but it's beautiful. You have access to all the information of the world at your fingertips in one of the most fluid languages humanity has created in this era. All you need to do is pick a place to start. don't fret too much about how far back you go, our history is so long most don't even bother with the majority of it unless their career is focussed on culture. The Bollywood gods are always ready to back up your efforts as you forge your path to your destiny. Feel the supportive fireworks inside of you and trust your intuition, you'll end up at a documentary or film that will be exactly where you can begin your research. I was lucky cause now that I remember who I was, I can literally pick up where I left off. And with the internet, I can help inspire others more than ever!! Ngl, this lifetime threw some curveballs I was not expecting, but its a Kali Yuga, I should have known better by now lol

You mentioned the music directors,the actors and much more but didnt say a single line about the lyricist Late Nusrat Badr sahab. I think the lyricist/poet should be given the deserving credit. It is well known that the novel has been written by the great Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyaye.
Getting a decent word for word translation is seemingly impossible. I wanted to get a basic idea of how Hindi grammar, syntax, etc work but ran into problems immediately. E.g. - neither "Mausam ne li angdaayi" nor "मौसम ने ली अंगडाई" make any sense to google translate. And a lot of the words in the song (whether in Hindi or transliterated Hindi) don't even show up in online Hindi-English dictionaries.
