We hope you enjoy this exclusive look behind the scenes of our life running this incredible remote island resort in the Solomon Islands. We feel very lucky to live such a unique lifestyle and for so many reasons we feel it important to share how life can be done a little different!! We'd love to hear what you found most interesting in the comments below. Leana via, Jase & Katie
Hi love it ..thinking about a trip there in a year but we want to hit a few other islands any idea where to start? We'd like to stay maybe three days with you and tour around some of the other islands... Besides the obvious water sports we would like variety of hiking rivers
It's a lot of hard work, but rewarding i am sure, my favorite part is all of it, but especially Jases' relaxed interractions with the staff, they seem to be the Best staff anyone could have! and seem to take all the tasks on in a very relaxed manner, no panic or stress, ( They may do, but work hard not to show it ) Fabulous!!
Thankyou for you reply guys! I only wish i was as amazing as you!!! And all of your staff, it must be a wonderful life, but at times hard too. God bless you all!!🥰🥰🥰 BTW your children are so awesome!!! I hope and expect you are as proud of them as we all are! Oh god! i wish i was one of your children!! lol🥰🥰
Thank you for sharing! I’m new here! My first video was the first episode of this season! Then I went back and watched the previous seasons! Y’all are on my bucket list! We are big divers 💙
Oh my goodness that scenery. Just gorgeous. I admire your hard work running your island. And Jace interaction with that little girl. So sweet. And that earthquake you are all so calm. Id love to see some of your gorgeous sunsets please. And more what you feed the guests and yourself on the island. Pictures. Thanks again for another great vlog. ❤❤

As always, loved the video ❤. A huge day for all of you most days but you are so lucky to have that environment and your outlook on things only enhances each day. 💕
For sure Belinda!!! It’s all about that glorious blue water and stunning reef with all the creatures!!! Today was Jase’s first day off in a few weeks and we did mantas and a MASSIVE Chaila to dive shop snorkel with the kids. It was unreal! So lucky to call this place home 🫶🏼🤿
Watching this took me back to our visit in 2012 - and such total appreciation for what it takes to run your resort. It all appeared seamless to us, outstanding food and gracious and lovely staff and visits at meals. I can see the standard is held in great esteem still under your management. My heart yearns for a return to Uepi with every watch of your videos. Fingers crossed it won’t be too much longer til we can be there again. Speaking as an American - I could so use a gigantic dose of calm and peace at this point in time. Thank you for sharing so much of your life. It’s a delight to watch. Blessings to your family and staff.
Ohh thank you so much Mary Jane!! It means so much knowing that you’d love to come back again. Our staff and morale here is as beautiful as ever!! We love what we do and hope to see you back here away from the madness of the “real world” soon!
This was so interesting! You wear so many hats you two! I don’t know how you do it all…teach me 😂 I wannabe this level of productive! Another awesome video my friend 🩷 what a beautiful unique life you live.
It’s so many hats hey!! But I guess a lot of it jsut kind of happens in the background to our life priorities. Thanks for the love my friend… very glad to have a buddy who lives an equally unique life 😊❤️🫶🏼🌴😎🤿
Thank you! Thank you for sharing your life with us and thank you for respecting the privacy of your guests 🙏. Th Hopefully Nan and Grandad have a wonderful holiday. You certainly need to be 'Jack of all trades' don't you? And oh my gosh! Isn't she just gorgeous 22:34 it's wonderful that staff can have there children with them, I realise it's extra work to arrange, but the interaction for your kids is also a benefit. Who has the English accent for Ophelia to mimic 25:00 🤣. Thanks again for sharing your incredible life ❤️
So many benefits for us all having Maeve on the island. It’s a bit of a unique situation for Mirriam to have her little one at work and living with us but we really love it. Haha yes Ophelia’s pops of English accent from Mollie 🫶🏼 which is so lovely too. Thanks for watching and leaving such a kind comment 😊
Wonderful photography. I found your channel 2 weeks ago and im watching every episode . I love the dynamics of your home and mixing tourist with your daily running. The staff seem happiest ive ever seen..it's a hard but rewarding life.😊
Welcome to the fam 🌴🤿🏝️😎 glad to hear you’re enjoying the blend of life, work and family! It sure is a rewarding and wonderful life that we feel so lucky to live and share with you 😊
Being a guest at Uepi is one seamless day after another. Wonderful food, wonderful adventures, spectacular sea life and superbly comfortable accomodation to relax in. I meant to check the brand of pillows because they are the dreamiest pillows I’ve ever slept on. All of this fun and adventure for us with no sign that you are all working so hard behind the scenes to make it happen. Loved seeing you give the bears a cuddle Ophelia. Sending a Margie cuddle to them over the ocean from NZ.
Aww thanks Margie! We sure hope your next visit to Uepi will be filled with adventures together with us and the children. Those bears are living a VERY loved life here in our home. Thank you so much for your support and kindness!! We’ve honestly had some crazy BTS days here and always hope that our guests feel looked after not realizing the madness that can unfold when running a remote island resort 😊
I really loved this video. It brought back many memories of when I was an education volunteer with the Peace Corps in the Republic of Kiribati. I lived with the villagers there, so I really liked when you talked about your interactions with the villagers you employ. I also lived on a very small atoll island, Maiana, and every 3 months we were flown to the main island to stock up on supplies, mostly canned fruit and toilet paper! We had no electricity, so had to plan carefully. I can't imagine how daunting it must have been at the beginning to figure out supplying your resort. You guys are doing such an amazing job as a business and family!!
How cool!!! I follow some folks living in Kiribati now and it's such a beautiful but VERY remote place... much harder than our life here. Though I do think over the years it's been about finding solutions and conveniences that fit our life and how we access the things we need. Such a shock when we go back to mainland Aus and have the reverse culture and convenience shock!! thanks so much for the lovely comment and support!
You guys are the best! Thanks for sharing. The resort is phenomenal and we had a great time when we were there. You staff is fantastic and always with a smile. I look forward to seeing Molly and the school video. Keep on living and sharing the dream!
Love this episode. You guys are amazing and i love seeing what you guys do at the resort. Love to you and your family and staff. Keep going and sharing your life with us it is absolutely amazing.
Well that looked like a tiring but fulfilling day... you must go to bed exhausted some nights... keep this video's coming... very enjoyable... and Cheers for sharing...
Ohh yes for sure!! Some days are very long.. and we fall into bed thoroughly exhausted 🥱 but wake up on sunrise to do it all again. No tv here so helps us get straight to sleep at night 👍🏼
I'm in awe: it's so very impressive to watch you both/all as you manage your days, juggling your family, staff and guest timetables and responsibilities. All of it is also such a unique privilege, as you regularly acknowledge. Though much less intense than your experience, we use to have Japanese people homestay with us in the UK as a business for one or two weeks at a time, and had our regular 'routines' with each group in (a few) similar ways, met them at the airport, took them all over the Cotswolds area here, so I really can 'get' the sense of strong responsibility that you feel in providing a great experience for your (paying!) guests, even though most of it is enjoyable as it's happening! We managed that pretty successfully for nearly five years until our little children eventually needed their own bedrooms. 'Gambatte neh!' ('Keep Battling On!' in Japanese)
wow so interesting to hear of your unique experience in a similar yet very different context.. I think doing something a little out of the box really sets you up to appreciate life right?! It takes a certain type of person to do the job well and enjoy it for all its benefits too. Thanks so much for watching and commenting :)
Love following yallz journey. Although I live in NY, I was born on a small island called Palau. You guys remind the island girl in me to wave like the ocean with a smile. Thank you for sharing all these amazing moments and I hope you get a chance to visit Palau🇰🇿, where you can swim with the jellyfish and more.😊
@@TheIslandLifeofUs Let me know if you guys ever need anything specific from here in the states. I do not mind to sending any specifics that may be needed. From one islander to another islander. One Love! ps. Hi Arlo, Philly and Darwin!
Great video guys! Captured some of the daily variety well. If you do another one maybe add some time stamps in at various points to give a sense of the daily battle rhythm. Would also be interesting to map out how much you walk in a day like that with a step count or even a visual tracker overlayed on a map.
I loved this video. It was so interesting seeing this look behind the scene. It looks like an extremely difficult operation to keeping everything working.your staff is incredible and I’m so impressed with how positive everyone is especially Jace. Excellent Video. (Was wondering though how many guests you usually have and if there are any other activities besides diving and snorkeling)
Thanks 😊 we are 6-14 pax in 6 beach houses and we have stand up paddle boards at every house, sit on top kayaks and sea kayaking available, bush walking, bird watching and relaxing 😌 available too!
Amazing, I really enjoy spending time with you and your family on that beautiful island. I would love to forward the resort information to my boss. He is always looking for the wow factor for vacations.
Is this resort own by your parents? I’ve watched a few of your videos but haven’t seen the full story . Perhaps do another question and answer video and share the story of the island .😊 This is another beautiful video!! Love watching you guys !❤
We’d love to share more details! It can be a lot to share in a public space though.. one of the reasons we’ve been working towards starting a Patreon so we can divulge more 😊
Hi!! We have some incredibly diverse coral reefs here so our primary activities are water based, SCUBA, free diving, snorkeling and we also have stand up paddle boards, kayaks, bush walking, village tours, beach picnics etc. In the time between experiencing the beautiful environment, you can unwind and relax in the beach house!
running such a place definately looks like a lot of work, trickling throughout the day especially keeping the visitors busy.. but is it work as such or just doing what you love ( your passion)... great video.. 👍✨🩵🐠
Just seeing the clip of your M & D heading off in the boat. At least get them to sit on life jackets. I banged around the Western Province in boats 14 years ago doing IT support for everyone and always took my own life jacket. Stuck a few hundred metres out in a channel with a strong current with no life jacket is not good .. leana hola
We collect and filter rainwater here on the island. We have 3m annual rainfall being a tropical island so usually we are just fine for water but worst case we also have desalination as back up 👍🏼
I can take care of the kids, I can clean, I can do a lot of things, also my husband works with air conditioning , and all that refrigeration stuff. We’d love to help ❤
Love the videos, but the way you kind of blur the page to do the writing it kind of isn’t something I enjoy. I don’t know if there’s another way to transition, but maybe don’t make it blurry?
