the depth and passion of their connection makes Angel and Buffy seem like one dimensional puppy love...real love can overcome much and that's what they had, despite both wanting to not love each other, it was too strong to deny..such an amazingly beautiful portrayal by both actors..though I wish she had been less abusive to him when he first loved her, verbally and physically, was hard to watch
Spike went threw hell to get his soul back. He did it all for Buffy. That seems both sweet and sad. Spike loved her more then Angel ever did only she would never let herself truly love him back.
This was one of the top 5 scenes from this series, and the fact it came so late in the series speaks to the quality (for the most part) that 80% of the show was written and acted.
Spike as a evil soulless monster went and got his soul back because he loved her so much and couldnt stomach what he almost did to her. Angel loses his soul and he tried to kill her Is there any question which one of them is better for her.
I think Spike was never truly evil. Even without a soul. Raping is something that unluckly men with a soul do. No excuse for that. Never. But forgiveness exists and in the end he earned it. Too bad there wasn't a happy ending for them. But that makes it even more epic.
