When he did this song in New York it was the highlight of the entire evening. The whole part of the concert with traditional instruments, dress, dancers in traditional costumes and Dimash wearing his heart on his sleeve was just stunning. Some fans caught Dimash up close and personal on this song on fan cams. You can see the tears in his eyes when the multi international crowd was singing in Kazakh with him. It was absolutely incredible.
Hello, I would love to see you react to the Dimash guide by Lilasi. It's not music but information and pieces of interviews with Dimash that gives a clearer idea of who he is and will make you understand even better why we dears love him as much as a human being as we love his music.

Greetings from Greece. Dimash sang it also in The Singer where he was as usual brilliant and so sweet due to his young age. I do believe his is incredible in everything but he is even more magical in his folklore songs in his language. He feels them more deeply. Plus they are more beautiful and unique.

Isn't it funny, how different journeys led us to the same artists. Mine started with seeing Angelina Jordan at AGT on telly. Loved it, and searched for it, wanted to see the performance again. And thus began my journey into music. A few clicks later came Diana Ankudinova, another few clicks, and there was Dimash, and don't ask me how this led me to GLS and Nightwish, which turned out to be my most listened to band ever. 😎

There are many who love his music most when he's singing in Kazakh, myself included. You feel it, because he feels it in his bones.
A very special song that Dimash sings ever since early on. Jet in this version the Dears are missing and they are very important for this song.

I love everything he does but I admit that his traditional Kazah songs are my favorite. There is something mythical in his interpretation, something impossible to describe. There are several versions of this song but the one he did during his Bastau 2017 concert is by far my favorite. If you haven't seen it, I highly suggest you do so. .

The back story to this song is so sad. The man was taken prisoner. He missed his partner so much. He was taunted by a lie that she had found another and this was so distressing to him. He could not believe she had forsaken him. Its a wonderful folk song.

Daididau is such a beautiful and tragic song. The composer was imprisoned and his captors lied to him and told him that his wife had left him. 😭 So he poured all his pain into this song.

Right to day I commented at another reactor that I like the Kazakh songs of Dimash most. They are different. Dimash doesn’t have to pay attention to the lyrics and the right pronunciation of the words and can focus just on his voice and how he wants to use it to convey the song. I think you hear the slight difference in his voice and the songs sound more intense to me.
It’s kind of funny that you found Dimash through Nightwish. It’s a dream of some Dears to hear a duet of Floor Jansen and Dimash. Both are brilliant singers. Once I read a comment: „Dimash is the best singer on earth and Floor is the best singer from earth.“ Wouldn’t it be amazing to hear a duet of them?
Dimash & his godfather dame up with the arrangement for this song when Dimash was just 15! This is a favourite with the Dears as Dimash gets us singing the chorus & he just loves to have all the Dears from many different countries & religions all singing in his language. Its magical. In some of his early concerts you can see how emotional Dimash gets when the audience sing his beloved Kazakh folk songs with him.

Daididau is a sad protest song. In places where they cannot go on the march against acts of governments, protest songs take the form of sad songs to move people towards empathy with that suffering the unfair act so as to be able to make it know and not letting them forget. Magzhan Zhumabaev was a Kazakh poet and writer part of a group of Kazakh nationalists who wanted a new national government independent from their Russian overlords. He was arrested and convicted for the 10-year deprivation of liberty. To break him psychological and emotionally his captors lied to him that his wife, his love, to whom Magzhan called “Daididau”, had run away with a lover. So he wrote a poem “who will I tell about my sorrow and pain”. Finally Magzhan was executed by shooting on 1938. That´s why Dimash was so moved singing it.

My favorite version is from the USA concert. Before performing he speaks to the crowd about how thankful he is that they have come to the concert. What I love best is the look on his face when the audience starts singing along. Have you reacted to Quaragym-ai yet? He sung it in an empty theatre with just a pianist. They were both students of a college professor called Kenes who had died from covid. They perform as a tribute to the professor. The song was written by Kenes. Dimash struggles to get through it. It’s stunning. He sings it again on his digital show put on during covid, but the first version was just that tiny bit more heartbreaking as you see the picture of the professor on the screen behind.
