I loved your video. Please, also show us a little bit about the book you are holding. We would like to know the dimensions of the book, page quality, etc. In doing so, you will provide us with precious information about the edition you are holding. Thank you once again for your videos.
It’s a MacMillan Collector’s Library edition. They are tiny. They are my favourite editions, particularly as I love the thin paper. It holds up well to highlighting unlike other editions (like Penguin Modern Classics).
I read it last summer and completely loved it! Definitely one of my favorite classics now. I highly recommend the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical adaptation if you are interested, it is very different from the book but stays true to the characters I think and the songs are fantastic! I first heard it in high school and that's what made me (10 years later) read the book 😄
Thanks for the review! (spoilers) What did you think of the resolution of Count Fosco and the Brotherhood? Was it too rushed for you or did it make sense?
I’ve just finished it and was, to my surprise, after abandoning the Moonstone out of boredom, gripped from the start. I was incredibly arrogant going in, thinking that, because it had been serialised, it would be drawn out and wordy and that the “first sensationalist novel” would be predictable and simple, but, boy, was I wrong on both counts. All through reading it, I made numerous predictions, almost all of which were wrong. I do think he relied quite a bit on coincidence to make the plot work, but I don’t care. It worked.
What a remarkable novel. No author has since come up with a villain like Count Fosco and his strange fascination with the wonderful Marian.

Armadale and No Name are just as good as the Woman in White.
