No, Tekken 6 was just like this. If King had you in a string combo and started in his crazy grapple moves...you were done. If your skilled enough to sidestep or block you would be okay. DOA has a different taste, no spam in corners, You can counter combos and do some interesting grapple moves that can turn into different strings. Hell, even MK skilled based than this. More entertaining to...

No Rage just causes more dmg, but damage taken is the same
