Call Lazydays Knoxville on a Wednesday to put a deposit on an Rv. And told the salesman an rv inspector would be there on Thursday to inspect it. And he told me that as of Monday they no longer allowed outside rv inspectors. I said, Thank you very much ! I will not purchase an rv without one. And they lost a sale.

Bought a used C-Class Jayco 31 from a south Baltimore dealer, paid cash. 2018 Ford 450 Super Duty chassis, 2019 ‘house’. LOVE IT! Horrible dealer. Horrible service dept. Salesman lied about stupid stuff, misrepresented the warranty. Great rig, use it A LOT. Just crossed 50K miles. There are many YTbrs like the couple from Vancaskeys who bought an (rv) van from an Arizona dealership and suffice it to say, they've named their van "Mr. Lemon" They've resorted to just fixing some of the problems themselves because the dealership is so hard to deal with. (no pun intended) The losses of the dealerships is cuz of greed and poor quality, ur right.

I don't know which is more insane. RV manufacturers that build coaches with spit and staples or buyers who think that an RV is a wise purchase. Until RV builders learn how to construct an enclosure that won't come apart in 6 months, they will always be in court fighting buyers who claim they bought a pig in a poke. If your that hell bent on getting an RV....rent one first, that should help cool your jets.

    • @kerrykerry5778

If you buy a new RV in North America, you end up signing a brutally comprehensive agreement with the manufacturer that hold them harmless for just about everything AND includes an ironclad arbitration clause. IOW, you ain't going to court, since you already agreed not to, no matter how bad they are screwing you. Manufacturers don't spend much time in court, since you gave away 99% of your legal protections when you signed the contract.
For more info. on this, see Steve Leto, a well regarded lawyer, who has a fantastic TH-cam channel. He truly thinks that ANYBODY who buys a new RV in North America is an idiot, making a mind-blowing mistake. He goes into great detail as to why you essentially purchase a piece of shit on a "where is, as is, it is what it is, get over it" basis, and anything done to rectify any of your displeasure is at the whim of the manufacturer. It is actually pretty stunning to learn.

I once owned an RV, a 5th-wheel toy hauler that could best be described as a rolling trash bin. I bought it "new" from a dealer in 2008 and it was heavily discounted, I assume due to the ongoing financial crisis. I paid cash, I am a boomer and learned not to finance toys. Of course, I also bought a dully diesel, a Ford F-350, to tow it. The build quality of this Thor trailer was so bad that things started breaking inside a month. The dealer was no help, I was now the enemy. Overall, a horrible experience. I parked the trash bin and waited out the market until 2013 and finally sold it, Nowadays I ride my Honda Gold Wing and stay in 2-3 star (Super 8, Hampton, etc.) hotels. The hot water is plentiful, I get forty mpg instead of six. Honda dealers honor the warranty w/o discussion, not that you ever need it.
As I explore our big country, I see field after field of towable RV's and sometimes even motorhomes and i always wonder why? Why so many unsold units and who floorplans (finances) these units? For me, never, ever, again.

I canceled plans to purchase after watching TH-cam videos opening up my eyes to the poor build quality control and the reports of bad treatment by dealers once they push you to take delivery and drive off the lot. What good is an RV that must spend weeks/months at the dealership for remediation. I wanted a 23 or 25 foot Airstream and learned that they are now owned by Thor and quality has taken a dump as a result. I'm retired now and had dreams of exploring America. I even purchased an SUV with 8700 pound tow rating in anticipation only to be sobered by so many TH-cam videos testifying to issues with customer dissatisfaction. Whereas my dream is dashed, I'm grateful for the honesty and candor of others who took their time to share their horror stories via the internet so that the rest of us would not fall victim to the shady industry from manufacturers to dealership chains.

    • @KylesRV
      @KylesRV 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

It isn’t exactly breaking news that Thor owns Airstream. Thor has been owned Airstream for over 40 years. Airstream is the company that launched Thor. Just remember that negativity sells on TH-cam. Don’t believe all the negative hype. There are plenty of good quality RV’s on the market.

I would love to buy a 45' diesel pusher production coach and can well afford it; current market conditions are not a concern. My issue is that I don't trust the entire industry from dealers, manufactures to parts suppliers. I have watched the horror stories of camping world (Dealer), Lippert (Parts suppler), grand design (manufacturer) and so on and have come to the concussion that these companies collectively are on the same path of customer last, once you purchase and hand over the payment then you are on your own. If I am going to spend nearly a million dollars, I want to know that everyone involved has my back and until have that assurance I will book my travel at resorts where I know for certain they do! Seems the resort industry and RV industry has been on opposite paths for years; the resort industry cares about the user experience and the RV industry could care less. Just my opinion from what I see.

They wouldn’t do anything for the customer even though it was LazyDays fault. They had no training for technicians and would hire anyone with a pulse. A little known problem is that after 2-3 years, a lot of manufacturers will only honor the core warranty of systems and structure. Cosmetic issues, roof leaks due to a lack of documented inspections and service, fading colors, broken trim etc... are then not part of the warranty on a "new" rig.

My wife and I were truly in the market and planned to purchase Q1 of this year. After visiting numerous dealers, we simply had to walk away and make other plans. Until quality of build changes significantly, I believe it's silly to sink one dollar into anything so poorly made. As a proud American, it's a shame to see the lack of pride being put into these products. HORRENDOUS items and i'm a bit frustrated with everyone saying "that's just part of RV'ing". Really, accepting poor quality, poor service, constantly breaking items shouldn't be "part of anything". How about, let's do better. If a consumer accepts inferior cheap products, that's what manufacturers will make. I sure hope we're at a point where the RV industry is waking up and trying to improve. Rant over....

To you 2 lovely people---------------->what you are seeing is caused by multiple inputs.
People who pay attention and themselves RV see the prices, the quality, and say no. They see the price of fuel and cringe. And then they see the price of camping unless they own their own lot. Travel is a joke for the middle class as far as RVing. When you travel on the road and either get happy at 70 bucks a night, or stay at a Flying J or comparable, you have to asses what you are doing.
The RV industry as whole, has priced themselves out of the market, and with the quality issues, everyone laughs.
Let me tell you Izzy and MJ------------>I have a permanent site in a Yogi. I have neighbors all around on basically 5 sides, and only 1 of them says that they will buy another RV when theirs dies. The rest of us hope we can sell our lots; and if people are dizzy enough to buy in to this industry, maybe at a profit.........but if not, we got our use.
Just for your information, 4 of us as couples are middle class, 1 is kinda wealthy, and the couple who is financially challenged; well they are the ones who would buy again. Tells you who they are pandering to, doesn't it!

💰🔥💰🔥💰🔥👎👎👎👎⚖️⚖️ think about it when is the last time you’ve ever heard of an RV dealer that actually took care of their customers when was the last time you seen an RV dealer do a complete pre-delivery inspection on the coaches that they sell before they place them on the lot for sale. I’ve gone up a couple of big ones in court and guess what the attorney that represented those RV dealers was not happy that I was on the opposing side. I even caught an RV dealer submitting fraudulent documents to court as evidence regarding a case against them. The document had signatures on fabricated documents, and I prove to the judge that those documents were fraudulently submitted to court as evidence with forge signatures on them trying to win the case against them.
Consumer should never go to an RV show to look at the RV guess what there’s a good chance you’re gonna leave after you sign a contract not before you sign a contract to purchase a pile of junk I think everybody wants to buy an RV should buy a used one for the individuals that have the documents to prove they’ve taken care of the coach so they need to sweat for a long period of time the American RV need to stop buying from RV dealers for at least five years

It is truly interesting that just back three to four years ago when COVID was upon us, people still wanted to go on vacation. Since hotel rooms were questionable, RV's made it the choice of many. Us veteran RVers at the time were worried about finding camping reservations due to the influx of new RVers entering into the arena. Some of us knew though that a good portion of this new influx would quickly realize RVing is a lot of work. Most people going on vacation want to pack a suitcase, get a ride to the airport, hop on a plane, rent a car and veg out at a hotel pool with full service. Rving is certainly not that. RV Sales and shipments had to be affected after COVID was over and people wanted to have a carefree vacation without work.

Hi guys, thanks for the reminder to check if I was still subscribed.... I actually had been unsubscribed somehow.
    1) I would definitely be interested to hear what steps the manufacturers are taking to ensure they are selling their RVs to reputable dealers. Because this is definitely not happening.
    2) Also, when there are so many unreputable dealers out there now, are the RV manufacturers going to take steps to sell them direct from the factory/manufacturer? That would certainly help mitigate losses due to buyers not wanting to put up with the unreputable dealers. I personally found one unreputable dealer recently in NH when I had attempted to walk through what I thought was the Brand and Model RV I wanted to purchase. I even called in advance and the salesperson with whom I had previously coordinated a day/time, didn't know where the RV was on the lot when I got there, and didn't have it pulled out of its spot so all of the slides could be opened! He didn't seem all that concerned that he wasn't prepared (this was almost a $200k RV)! I left with absolutely no interest in returning!
    3) Even the newer, significantly more expensive brands are experiencing quality issues (the Brinkley Model G 3500 was the RV I thought I wanted to buy - but am now having second thoughts as a result of my experience at that particular dealer (and also saw a few quality issues just stepping in the RV even though the slides could not be completely extended). What will it take for the RV manufacturers to wake up and start fixing their quality issues? Their losses will continue to grow as buyers' and owners' experiences continue to be communicated to the public (thank goodness for that communication - I have really learned a lot)!
I still want to sell my house and purchase an RV to work remotely, travel and enjoy new experiences before I retire. I'm sincerely hoping that I either win the lottery so I can work directly with a custom RV manufacturer, or can just afford to buy an RV regardless of the issues, or the RV industry finally wakes up and smells the coffee and starts building quality RVs again! 🤞🤞🤞

Shocking but not surprising. RV prices have increased dramatically over the past few years, interest rates are much higher, and the widely publicized lack of quality all conspire to impact sales. I have to imagine Lazy Days isn't alone, that the other big chains will be reporting similar losses (CW?). It's the smaller mom and pop RV dealers that I worry most about, the big chains may have the financial wherewithal to survive an economic downturn, the smaller dealers maybe not so much. We could see a consolidation of dealerships, which may not be good for the consumer. And if the RV pipeline is experiencing a slowdown, manufacturers must also be impacted. Hard times for the RV industry, but for all goods that are dependent on disposable income.

Bought a Jayco(6th one and last one). Graphics were bubbling . Was told it is not part of the bumper-to-bumper warranty. Had other issues that I fixed. Pretty disappointing.

I was recently shopping hard for a used travel trailer. I looked at several 4-5 year old Jaycos. As a previous owner of several of their products, I was stunned. I saw two very lightly used, one owner units that were literally falling apart. Wow, no danger of me buying another one.

It is only going to get worse as people learn that even the companies once known for top end RVs are producing crap. More and more reports of people with brand new units having serious problems and manufacturers ignoring them and/or failing to fix problems. Many reports of people whose warranties are expiring, and they have yet to be able to use it. I would not buy new right now.

I have no sympathy for the rv industry. Profit above quality and service will ultimately kill this industry. Consumers have finally woken up to the fact they have been screwed for years. We can only hope the quality manufactures don’t price themselves out of the market.

The Inflation Rate does Not Include Fuel, Rent and Food. If you add them in the real inflation rate for the Biden years is closer to 50% than 5%. Most people don't have money for what is a luxury item for them.

I knew old man Wallace when he open the small original Lazy Days and he was a top notch guy. I was a wholesaler and he still was very fair with everyone. That attitude carried over when he created the huge expansion. When the investment company took over, the bottom line was all that mattered and now you can see it in the poor sales and service. Stick with good, reputable family owned dealers and stay away from new RVs.

When the product you sell is flashy garbage it’s still garbage until the industry decides to sell quality. They will continue to go down by the way it reminds me they weren’t too kind to the consumer during the lockdowns were they?

I can foresee a future where RV dealers have to be less greedy and sell their current stock at vastly discounted prices or they will go bankrupt. We are in a very difficult situation worldwide and people are buying properties for far less than the cost of owning an RV. You can buy a Chateau and a small village in France for $500,000-$1,000,000 and the rental income will be completely offset any mortgage. A 8-10 bedroom home with every amenity and a pool is about $400,000-$500000. You can buy a cottage with land for $100,000 all highly desirable and the rental income will be fully repaid in 3-4 years. Basically you can become a multi millionaire just buying good properties in both France and Italy for a fraction of the price of an RV. It’s all happened in the past few years and it’s definitely affecting the market of the RV dealers and manufacturers throughout America. Spend $200,000 plus on an RV and your expenses start before you leave the lot. Add that to your depreciation and it’s a recipe for how to loose your money the fastest. People are wising up and are currently in Europe buying properties that fund themselves and they are becoming seriously rich in the process.
I would love an RV however due to the lack of responsibility that dealers take and the ever increasing cost of owning a decent RV guess what I’m doing? I’m off to France to view several properties all under $500,000 and each one with an income far higher than any loan or mortgage. People are looking for investment opportunities and vacation homes due to the political situation in America and diversity of their quality of life. Sorry guys but this is exactly what the industry is up against. Americans are already pushing up prices in the south of France as they are stunned by how cheap the properties are. With the Olympic Games about to start and foreigners flooding to France and booking holidays in Italy it’s going to affect the economy of the RV industry drastically.
    Good fortune my friends 🤍🕊️
