There is something so special about their ability, to tell the songs story, allowing us to listen with a new perspective, and hear & feel emotions, we may not have heard from the original artist 💖💖💖 Not only their voices, but their delivery is also their gift! *IMO, no other group, can build up a song, like Pentatonix* They are masters at pulling on our emotions!!! 💗💗💗 *They are individually so talented, however, when put together, it is truly magical* 💗💗💗 Thank you for such a thoughtful reaction 💗💗💗
YES!! You are on a ROLL with all my favorites 😊! Keep it up: Amazing Grace, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Can’t Hold Us, Coffee in Bed, Popspring 2016….💜
Yes, that was perfect Italian that Scott was singing. I didn't even know that he knew the language, let alone so beautifully. WOW!!! They all hit this one out of the park. I fell in love with this song all over again.
Yes, it was Italian. Pentaholics will listen to their Christmas music all year long. When you get there - O Come All Ye Faithful, Dance of The Sugar Plum Fairy, Mary Did You Know, Carol of The Bells, O Holy Night and on and on and on!!
Firm believer that Kevin's arraignment of "O Come All Ye Faithfull" show you their talent and skills. Avi Kaplan and Kevin know how to work together, especially since they shared an apartment when they first got to LA. Check out Avi's music as well.
Funny you mentioned "The Chronicles of Narnia"! I remember reading the whole series by C. S. Lewis as a kid. Until you mentioned that, I agree, the whole winter forest vibe does remind me of his books, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Always love your commentaries!
Another great reaction! The ending: Many think Mitch carries it through to the final note. He doesn't. The final note is Kevin's lovely tenor. If you listen carefully, you can hear it. It's hard to say I have a favorite PTX song, but if pressed, The Prayer would certainly be in the top 5. Keep them coming, love watching you react to these incomparably talented people!
This song was written for a 1998 animated movie called "The Quest for Camelot". It's sung in the movie by the mother of the heroine, praying for her daughter, who is setting out on a journey. Celine Dion co-wrote and recorded a different version in English and Andrea Bocceli recorded an Italian version that both appeared on the movie soundtrack. Dion and Bocceli then recorded a bi-lingual version that they both included on albums that year. in 2008, Dion recorded another duet version with Josh Groban that became a hit and multiple artists have done versions, solo and duet.
You can see some studio behind-the-scenes of recording this and other songs from their Christmas album, Evergreen. The video is called "Pentatonic: The Recording Of Evergreen." Fun video to watch and see how they record and interact.
Hello Saeed, I dropped everything when I saw your thumbnail for PTX The Prayer, I was so happy at the thought of you reacting to this. PTX's cover of The Prayer is Pure Pentatonix Perfection. It is a superb piece of musical arrangement, stunning solos, perfect harmonies, beautiful videography and a great message of hope. So glad that you enjoyed this. Mitch starting on the first verse with his beautiful counter tenor, the ethereal sounds and the notes that he hits and holds and all sprinkled with runs and vibratos; Scott with his operatic voice, singing in Italian; Kirstie with her sharp belting and that stunning vibrato; Matt steady on the bass; and Kevin driving the beat with the drums and snares. The solos, the duets, the call and response. It is pure mastery. Sorry that I am four days late on this - I have to check my notification settings so that I don't miss your PTX reactions!
Hey, hope you are well. This was truly amazing. You described it perfectly! Thanks for watching and have a wonderful day. (Ps one more reaction to PTX planned for 10pm CET)
They published this on their 2021 Christmas album, "Evergreen." Most pentaholics think this should have won a Grammy. Unfortunately, it's the publisher's responsibility to submit songs to the Academy, and whoever it was at RCA who should have done that was asleep at the switch. It was never submitted so it was never even considered for nomination. And if I sound angry about that it's only because I am. Isn't that a gorgeous suit Scott is wearing? Do you notice that he ISN'T wearing a scarf, or gloves? That's because they aren't actually in a snowy forest; this was filmed indoors, on one of the most beautiful sets I've ever seen. Yes, that's a Mitch slap all right. Either Mitch or Kirstin could have sung the lead; they have much the same range and on occasion they sound very much alike. But Kirstin's real forte is belting out those high notes and Mitch's is ethereal, angelic sounding parts, which made Mitch the better choice to lead in "The Prayer." Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli each recorded solo versions of "The Prayer" for the 1998 film, _"Quest for Camelot."_ Dion's was in English and Bocelli's was in Italian. Later, they released a duet version on their albums "These Are Special Times" (1998 - Dion) and "Sogno" (1999 - Bocelli). Source: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Prayer_(Celine_Dion_and_Andrea_Bocelli_song) Obviously, Pentatonix chose to cover the duet version. And wouldn't you know that Scott would be the best choice for Andrea Bocelli's part, when Scott is the member of Pentatonix most likely to forget the lyrics (according to everyone in Pentatonix, including Scott)? No, he doesn't speak Italian; he had to learn this by rote, and he worked very hard to get the pronunciation right. According to people who do speak Italian he succeeded.
@@SaeedReacts. It also looked cold in the official video for "Hallelujah." Neither of these songs is inherently a Christmas song, but each was published on a Christmas album. (Pentatonix always includes at least one non-Christmas song per Christmas album.) So to make the songs seem more seasonal Pentatonix makes a point of making them look like they were shot in cold weather. For "Hallelujah" that meant wearing heavy winter clothing for the video shoot, even though it was August in a very hot desert. But for "The Prayer" they could wear comfortable clothing because the set was doing all the work of making it look like Christmas. Considering the logistics of publishing a Christmas album you can ALWAYS assume that the video was shot in the summer. There are one or two songs (I don't remember which, off-hand, but I think they were genuine Christmas songs) where the official video includes footage of Pentatonix playing in the snow, having a snowball fight. This was much less successful visually than the set for "The Prayer"; fake snow just doesn't pack the way real snow does.
This makes me chilled to the bone. Love this. And as a Christian it has so much meaning and the way you do meditation is always positive and makes the world a better place. TX for this. Greetings from South Africa
This song is in their video/documentary named "The making of Evergreen" It show's their process in producing songs. The entire album had to be made in 2 weeks. It's truly an amazing work of love for them all. I know you will love seeing their love and respect of each other and the people they work with. Thanks for a wonderful reaction. ♥
This Pentatonix performance is so beautiful that it is tear-inducing. They are incredible. Thanks for the reaction. Most Pentatonix fans listen to their Christmas songs and watch their Christmas videos all year round. "The Prayer" is not really a Christmas song. They always put non Christmas songs on their Christmas albums.
There is a Behind the Scenes video for The Prayer if interested. Kirstin talks about bringing the Great Outdoors inside the sound stage. Kevin said that there was too much snow on his head. Christmas is year round for Pentaholics. They just have so much music. "Amazing Grace --My Chains Are Gone" is year round, but the location is closed due to CA rain and slides.
They always give passion when they sing, but when they sing to God, they seem to push it a little more than the normal passion. You can not only tell that they genuinely mean what they are singing, they make you feel what they are singing...lol Do not know if you checked it out yet, but "Mary Did You Know" is another crusher.
Indeed it was a Mitch-slap! It is Christmas all year long with PTX! Pentaholics listen to their Christmas songs all year! Just thought you should know. When you hear their Christmas versions, you won't want to hear the originals that are played all season long on the radio.
Now that you reacted to The Prayer, you can now look at “Pentatonix - The Recording Of Evergreen”. It shows how they created their Grammy nominated album, Evergreen, that includes The Prayer.
I would like for you to react to Forestella. Forestella is a classical crossover male quartet from South Korea. The group was formed in a competition called Phantom Singer 2. As you like Dimash, I believe you will find Forestella’s talent amazing as well.
Thanks heaps for the great reaction bro, one of my favourite songs. Please check out Marcelito Pomoy “the prayer” live on the wish bus. He is from the Phillipines and is so unique
Not religious here too, and same beliefs and practices as you. Prayers are powerful, for me are a conversation with someone powerful. This song hits it
I'm really enjoying your reactions. So thank you. If you want more Mitch and Scott duets, check out their early side project, Superfruit. They did comedy vlogs, but they also made beautiful, amazing music together for about 4 years, including putting out an album called Future Friends. It's all so good and sometimes really, really funny.
I can’t stand Christmas music during the Christmas season, because I’m a Scrooge, and it feels like the same 10 songs over and over again. However, for some reason I don’t in the least bit mind Christmas music in July. In a time where Christmas ISN’T in every store, every house you visit, every street you drive down, Christmas music is genuinely enjoyable for me. I say make a summer month a Pentatonix Christmas reaction marathon!
I don't do religion either, but ptx has made me listen to religious music. Someone can appreciate music while still shunning religion. And you got to hear Mitch the rare counter tenor. This song doesn't even do his range justice. Comes closer tho. I think in all honesty we haven't heard Mitch's true range yet.

Mitch is a gift 1:25
So good!
Scott is the ultimate! Italian it is!
Watch Scott's live choir version of MARS. You'll see what that man can do!
Complete vocal masterpiece.
💯
Mitch’s voice just doesn’t seem possible, does it? ❤
Mitch went through tough times through Middle/High School because of that voice. Now he makes $$$$$$ because of his special Counter-Tenor voice.
We all remember Shawn Stockman telling Mitch that he had one of the "prettiest voices" he had ever heard. What an understatement!
other worldly😇
Amazing voice! Love it!
It’s a fact that everyone’s favourite song is whichever one you are currently listening too loll

Enjoying this journey ! Thanks for the recommendations.
The original "Anchor" is fire too!
Their wall of sound. No one but PTX can do that.
So good!
Mitch is the master!! 🩷 Soothes my soul!
💯
Love this one sooooo much! Absolute masterpiece
💯
Not religious but one can appreciate the craftsmanship and the angelic tones of Mitch no matter religion.
Definitely!
Your face said it all. Glad you enjoyed it.
You are an official Pentaholic.
I really enjoyed it. Thank you! ❤️
Yes, that was perfect Italian that Scott was singing. I didn't even know that he knew the language, let alone so beautifully. WOW!!! They all hit this one out of the park. I fell in love with this song all over again.
Apparently Scott doesn't know Italian: he learned this phonetically.
I read somewhere that Scott hired a language tutor to teach him Italian! Don’t know if it’s true! He sounded AMAZING!
All I know is that he sounded incredible!
Yes, it was Italian. Pentaholics will listen to their Christmas music all year long. When you get there - O Come All Ye Faithful, Dance of The Sugar Plum Fairy, Mary Did You Know, Carol of The Bells, O Holy Night and on and on and on!!

So many to choose from. I love it!

Thanks so much!
Doesn't get much better than that... They are fantastic live. I have seen them 4 times. Finally got to see their Christmas tour.
Wow, amazing you saw them 4 times. They are incredible

Yes it was Italian by Scott. The original was sung by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocceli. As you learn Pentatonix don't do covers they do upgrades.
She also did it with Josh Groban. Both beautiful versions
That deserved a grammy. the end sounded like the end of a big movie production. another great one
This was amazing!
6:37 your face at the end there was the perfect expression for this song. Its incredible ❤
Beautiful rendition of this song.
You don't need to be religious to enjoy the message, sentiment and the music. Great job!!!!!!
