9:58 That can't possibly be Humans that made the first Fortifications in the 4th Millennium, so long back that the M designation for Millennium probably hadn't been introduced yet. I doubt even Humanity had invented even the crude early version of the warp drive without the Gellar Fields that needed Souless Men of Stone to pilot them. I seriously doubt that a sleeper cryo ship or an O'Neill Sphere type generation ship could reach a place so far flung as the Eventual Sabbat Worlds even if they left in 2100 after Mars was colonised and it somehow was capable of not disintegrating after around 2000 years in the void I doubt you could reach an area of the Milky Way nearly on the opposite side of the Galaxy even after that long. Even if you did; why would you go there instead of somewhere closer? Unless it was the ship falling into a stable Warp Rift it was probably Aliens who made the fortifications.
Arch. How did chaos manage to capture that fortress world intact to use it against the imperium? This is the part I never understand. Chaos seems to be able to conquer fortress worlds easily only for them to be an impossible obstacle for the other side. Surely chaos had to take the world in a fight and if its that defended it should gave taken decades and lost most of its defences in the process but uts almost like it was handed to them
It probably was handed to them. Some Fortress worlds are conquered from within, corrupting important officers to create an opening. Other worlds are conquered by Chaos then turned into Fortress Worlds after the fact.
@@robertnelson9599 Could of also been sieged into submission, fortress worlds are not self sufficient an the chaos forces had like over a 100yrs to conquer the system before this crusade.
@@lokensicarius9347 id imagine a fortress world in 40k being able to last 200 years of siege.one of longest siege in history was 12 years in the medieval ages. and was not an entire planet mind you.
@@lokensicarius9347 that makes no sense though. Sieges are typically battles of attrition. So it's weird that most of their armaments would still be intact, especially since compared to a city in our time, they have an entire planet worth of resources with techs like algae farms etc. to sustain themselves. Even if chaos corrupted from within. It wouldn't be a peaceful transition and there would be some level of civil war depleting armaments. It's just lazy writing and finding an in universe reason to compensate for it, while we have to do that often, proves difficult.
God damnit another Sabbat Worlds Crusade episode, that I will have to put off listening to. I was really hoping for Vrax. You got me into Gaunts ghosts and I only just started book 5... now I have to show restraint to avoid spoilers xDD
How did that fortress-world fell to chaos with its defences intact. It must have required a major infiltration campaign taking many years or an outbreak of don't worry about it.
Maccaroth strategy was everything his general accused him off. Reckless dash through contested systems almost had seen his entire crusade destroyed. If not for overwhelming advantage in personnel, ships, vehicles, training, organization, logistics. Imperial guard and Navy would had been destroyed many times over by now. Especially by Maccaroth foolish dash towards the most fortified point when he is being surrounded. Talk about vain glorious fool...
Those mad dashes were what helped the Crusade make major progress and make it work in the long run, leaving the Chaos forces reeling and trying to take on his forces. And to think that, while the Ghosts faced hell on their section of the Crusade, THAT WAS THE SECONDARY FRONT. I can't imagine how bad the Primary Front was.
Who are these "Vahedwak" fleets Arch keeps mentioning? Is he just butchering the pronunciation? I'm trying to look up for stuff about them but come up with nothing
Can we hear about units that aren't the tarnith for a change? Kinda tired of the plot armor and focus they're getting when there's hundreds of other units.
