Your weather in North Wales is very similar to that of Northern Arizona except the rain. The temps are very similar. So I really gain a lot from your videos. This is my 2nd year having bees. Wintered 3 colonies and getting 2 more today. I’m retired military and love this hobby. And yes I have been to the Goodrich castle at Ross on the Wye.
My local mongrels never fail to go into swarm mode themselves, pretty early in season, so they normally dictate to the beekeeper when to split. 🤣🤣 and usually all at once. 🙈🙈
One of my colonies has a frame almost full of capped drone brood, larvae, capped brood on the other frame, 2020 queen seen. Should I be worried? In the south of UK.
just to ask if there is any news from Ukraine? Did our donations get there? Oh and I am down to an apidea with two mini supers from last year just made a box for the mini frames to allow them to migrate up into an abelo 3 frame nuc. Amazing number of bees in the little tower. What began as an experiment may be the saving of my beekeeplng being as that's all I have left.
Yes. He contacted me to say thank you. The German Bee Journal have also contacted him and are fundraising. I updated in the pinned comment on the video. Exciting times for your bees. See how many you could build it up to :D

Thank you from Central California.
I overwinter Queens in (doubled up and insulated) mini nucs for Spring disasters/splitting.
Thanks Lawrence, useful timely advice.
Good advice. Going to be doing my first splits this year in Northern Ireland

I would love to be able to plan all of this from the armchair! As you say, I go when they tell me they are going.
I’m happy to wait until the bees are ready 👍 They always know best 🤣🤣 🇬🇧
Brilliant video
Any recommendations on where to get good queens from? And roughly how much should we be paying for one?
I was going to re queen my small colony, but having watched this video I wont bother now. It has to get many times bigger.
I do the splits after honey flow
Love this, common sense bee keepin
