- Happy Friday, lovely friends! Oh what a wonderful September it has been so far 🍂 I love how the mornings are getting cooler and cooler, the tips of the trees are beginning to change and the wind shares it magic by sprinkling the leaves all around the forest floor. In this video, I continue to celebrate the arrival of autumn by doing so many of the things I love: painting, reading, and even making some taper candles! Near the end of this video I also share a small (I tried to keep it small) collection of some of the autumn themed or atmospheric picture books I have collected over the years as well as some new ones I pick up from Powell's Books! I hope you enjoy this longer vlog and seep in the coziness & comfort September has brought me so far ✨ As always, thank you so very much for being here 🧡

The pumpkin caramel sauce recipe from @hannaoliviaway :
• 1 c sugar
• 4 tbsp butter, sliced up
• 1/4-1/2 c heavy cream (depending on how thick you want it)
• couple big spoonfuls pumpkin purée
• heavy sprinkle pumpkin pie spice
• dollop of vanilla bean paste (or extract or powder)
• sprinkle of salt
first - put the sugar in a saucepan - alone. i know it seems weird but go with it. start it on medium heat, stirring pretty consistently. it will start to form lil clumps - keep stirring. then it will start to melt, turning kinda liquidy - keep stirring. you want to keep going til it’s all liquid and the lil sugar crystal clumps are dissolved.
then add the butta. stir stir stir. once combined, slowly add cream. keep stirring. once that is combined, remove from heat and add in the pumpkin, pumpkin pie spice, vanilla, salt.
store in a jar, keep in fridge. should last a week-ish!

I grew up reading Redwall (the series is long) I still will reread them. They are very fall feeling. Never read them when you are hungry. The way the author writes about food makes you wish you were sitting right there at the table

😂 I laughed at your squirrel story. I would pay to get a photo of those fat squirrels. That would make a beautiful and realistic painting of a squirrel munching on one of your pumpkins. I loved the postcard btw. It is definitely one of my favorite prints of yours. I love that cute fox so much! The sticker was adorable as well. Mine got here so fast! Hope you have a great week! It finally feels like Fall here. It was so hot in IL last week. I think we hit above 90 degrees. This week are in the low 50’s.

This video was so nostalgic for me. I remeber making bees wax taper candles as a child with my mum and dad. Every time there was a power cut, well into my teens those candels would be the ones we burned.
(I lived in the country side in New zeland so we had power cuts a lot)

How do you plan your shots? Do you create a list?
I make a general layout for the video in general, but nothing as detailed as shot for shot! I usually just film in the moment, and try to get as many differing angles as possible for variance!
