Drax and Mantis are so good together - a great comic relief in an action movie that isnt overdone.
At what price? Drax in the comics was a construct whose sole purpose is to destroy Thanos. Mantis... is just there. Making them alien is a good idea; but making them jokes is not, especially with the brand synergy.

Fun fact : Dave Bautista is the highest paid actor in Hollywood history. He's been featured in all of the more than 25 movies marvel has produced, in every single scene, the only thing is that we couldn't see him.

Dave Bautista himself admitted on many of his interviews that he is a socially awkward person.
Maybe he was not acting at all but just pretend. Because there seems to be a genuine part of dave in drax, something that cannot be replaced or mimmicked.
Makes sense. Whenever he cut promos in WWE he wore sunglasses, not just cause it looked cool and fell in line with his character, but because he had a long standing fear of public speaking and the terror would show in his eyes, which the sunnies would cover.
