Basically, the Mega Drive version of Aladdin made Disney give the license to Virgin instead of Capcom. The reason was that Virgin did hand drawn animation, and while the Capcom made SNES version of Aladdin had far better backgrounds, Aladdin himself and all the characters looked much better on the Mega Drive. You can tell this game has the same kind of hand drawn animation.

I can't be alone in finding the Monstro stages a bit unnerving? First time I played his stages, I was like "Oh mother of Pearls! This was designed for kids to play??". FYI, I emu-ed on my Raspberry Pi console. Still a fun game though.
