I can’t believe only 4 years ago I was a beginner guitarist, and because of you Stevie I started playing guitar properly and looking into certain types of guitars and genres and such, all I can say is thank you! I love guitar and it’s literally my life at this point, ur the goat Stevie 💪
My first real axe was a Beast (son of beast), technically my second guitar. I also played it at a church, my drummer buddy I was in high school with invited me to do some songs with him so I did. I had fun, but wasn't playing stuff I was super into
@HarleySLA church music can be awful. But some of it really can be great. I think when it comes to church and worship music, sometimes they feel you can't do flashy/skilled stuff because it takes away from the message of the song. I totally have this, because then musicians are bored out of their minds in the songs.

It was actually WAY better back then cause you had to listen to the song over and over to figure out the notes sometimes one at a time which trained your ear and developed your style….
@@nicolemichlovsky2505 I see where you're coming from and how it was probably more rewarding to figure it out on your own by ear, but it just doesn't beat the amount of modern day guitar tutorials being a much faster and efficient way of learning guitar. And you can still develop your own style by learning from TH-cam, guitar lesson apps and things.. You just have to keep in mind to let loose and play what feels uniquely comfortable/suited to you, rather than just strictly copying how another person plays.

Honestly, as someone that has played bass for 20 years but is just learning guitar now, the two instruments are so different in every way other than physical resemblance that the skills only kinda roughly translate to each other. To anyone that wants to play guitar, start with a guitar and don't think of bass as an "easier" guitar and if you wanna play bass start with a bass and don't let people get ya down about it being "easy" because the instrument in reality is just as complex as guitar but in different ways.

Its as heavy as a Les Paul and the neck is longer than your "instrument" and so fun to play because you can play with it many different ways. As long as you match the tone of the guitar/guitars and in time with the drummer anything goes. But you have to pay attention to what you are playing and why. You are rythem and provide the groove between riffs on a stringed instrument aka "guitar". Its pretty simple but music theory and understanding it goes a long way.
Correct! I don't have my first guitar, but I do have the first *new* guitar I ever bought. It's an Aria Pro II Bobcat from 1982 or thereabouts. I used it so much the frets are wobbly and I eventually sawed through the whammy bar pivots. Eventually I'll fix that.
Maaan, I would love to see a video in which Steve just fixed that old guitar of his with brand new pick ups, new tuning knobs, new potentiometer, new saddles, etc. And them proceed to shred. I'd watch that video a couple of times too.

Loog has taken a very old style of home made guitar called a cigar box guitar and upgraded it. Yes you can tune it standard tuning, but it plays just as well in open chording. You can be playing songs in 5 minutes. Perfect for beginners.

I have a guitar kind of like this. But it has the highest FOUR strings of a guitar, and it's tuned up a fourth (GCEA). Of course, it is so small that they need to make the first string tuned an octave higher than it otherwise would, lest the first string be too thick to sound good, so it is generally annotated "gCEA". But nobody calls it a "four string guitar," everybody calls it a "ukulele" for some reason.
@@IsoMacintosh Tenor guitars are tuned in fifths (CGDA). This is what you’d get if you took the lowest string off a baritone ukulele. That is why this instrument kind of confused me, as there is already an instrument that kind of does this. Still, the tenor guitar is pretty fun, too. And if somebody bought me one of these three-string things, I’d probably have a blast with it.

Dude, there was a way worse beginner guitar before your day. Back in my day I owned it. 1985 and the body was about 1" thick, the pickup was top mounted the bridge was like and upside down ashtray and sucked BALLS! It had this burst paint job and kind of I guess a country design. It was given to me by a friend of my mothers. But I truly believe it was meant to be a weapon in a bar to break up fights from drunks after a rodeo? Not sure. But your first guitar is killer! I'd mod it today. Let me rad it out for you. Ill make you love it again.
I got a yamaha pacifica beginner guitar in 2003 and it's awesome, sounds good and stays in tune even though i ripped it apart to paint it and put it back together

Well, sweep picking is not that important to beginners, but palm muting and power chords are. The 3 string thing will deform the beginners perception. Also tabs won't be ok. These are my thoughts.
I agree to a large extent. Also think learning guitar before ukulele for similar reasons. One you learn guitar, uke or 3 string is a cake walk. Wish I had learned piano first. It really builds the brain for operating the hands independently. As it is I actually did drums first, then guitar, then key boards a bit. Didn't get a uke until Dec 2022, was playing tunes inside of 5 minutes. - Cheers

Removing three strings from a guitar to make it "beginner-friendly" is like removing two wheels from a car to make it "beginner-friendly".
I mean children learn to ride bikes long before they learn to drive. Remove two wheels, the engine and that big cage and you have a bike.

As a guitarist, I consider easier to not use the three lower strings than to remove the 6 and the 1 as for the Ukulele.

Dude, there was a way worse beginner guitar before your day. Back in my day I owned it. 1985 and the body was about 1" thick, the pickup was top mounted the bridge was like and upside down ashtray and sucked BALLS! It had this burst paint job and kind of I guess a country design. It was given to me by a friend of my mothers. But I truly believe it was meant to be a weapon in a bar to break up fights from drunks after a rodeo? Not sure. But your first guitar is killer! I'd mod it today. Let me rad it out for you. Ill make you love it again.

I got a yamaha pacifica beginner guitar in 2003 and it's awesome, sounds good and stays in tune even though i ripped it apart to paint it and put it back together

a balalaika is tuned EEA i think but you can just do that with this one and it is

Well, sweep picking is not that important to beginners, but palm muting and power chords are. The 3 string thing will deform the beginners perception. Also tabs won't be ok. These are my thoughts.
I agree to a large extent. Also think learning guitar before ukulele for similar reasons.
One you learn guitar, uke or 3 string is a cake walk.
Wish I had learned piano first. It really builds the brain for operating the hands independently. As it is I actually did drums first, then guitar, then key boards a bit. Didn't get a uke until Dec 2022, was playing tunes inside of 5 minutes. - Cheers
