In Drishti IAS Current News Bulletin, we bring to you a summary of news events that happened last week. Recently the Home Ministry has made an official announcement on CAA ‘Citizenship Amendment Act 2019’. The central government can do this before the Lok Sabha elections to be held in 2024, These days, protests by truck drivers are in the news across the country. This protest is taking place against the provisions given in the 'Indian Judicial Code'. This legal framework makes changes to the punishment for 'hit-and-run incidents'.
In other section, Recently, the Central Government has declared an organization called 'Tehreek-e-Hurriyat' as an illegal association. It has been declared 'illegal' under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, 1967. Gujarat's largest 'Surya Namaskar' performance has been included in the Guinness Book of World Records.
