If you get an error where it tells you there is no valid file found in the directory all you need to do is check the box under Add a source directory that says (Scan sub directory's)

im havein the "the client has a pbo that is not in the server" for the mod i made. did update for meta. its published and shows up as a mod in the list for the server correctly. i verified the mods are exactly the same in my server as they are in the !workshop folder. i added it to the start file in txt editor as i did previous mods that work. im not sure what i did wrong? its a local only test server and i dont know how to use dzsa for local so ive been launching through steam

so repeat the whole process with the new pbos your adding .. so simply take your server pack + the extra mods make new keys ... then use publisher to 'update' your mod with the new pbos :D
Quick question mate. I play on a server and I want to start an offline lan server using their pack as their building is slightly different to vanilla and I want to try some base build ideas. I've tried adding it like a normal addon but the server fails to load. I sort of expected this as I'm assuming there's some sort of protection to prevent people stealing other peoples work but I just want to use their base building style offline. Is this possible?

yeah repacking big mods isn't very convenient anyways as it would take double the space on your hardrive if you already have it.. if i were you i'd repack small mods like under 200 mb
If i want to edit a PBO file lets say for example change a edds image. I extract the PBO edit it, what do i do next, do i create another pbo with the folder that i unpack? Then change the pbo to the actuall mod that i wanted to edit, then publish?

its good for mods you have created yourself, or have had created for you , it also good for mods you don't need to update with every update and very useful for creating map packs ;)
My opinion if I ever make a mod Is I wont outright stop anyone from repacking...But I don't understand why you would because DayZ is designed in a way that the mods will auto update in your workshop that you can just drag the updated mods over to your server and it makes telling what mod is out of date hard to know if you packed them all into one package. Maybe to make updating easier but the problem with packing is it means that your forcing users to download all the mods for your server as a separate package that can really only be used for YOUR server which can create duplicate instances of mods wasting users who play your server some space when they may already have the mods singularly installed in some situations. And worse yet not only duplicate instances but also without manually updating the pack users can only use the version you have installed in the pack instead of the server alerting you when you join that a mod you have on the server is out of date. Another problem with packing is it puts the person who made the pack responsible for creating the Manifesto for what mods are installed and there have been cases quite a few in fact where people are lazy and don't tell you what mods are in the pack defeating the point of having it because the mods list will only say the server pack is the only thing in the list. And because DayZs client auto updates any mods if a server owner adds a ton to a pack your client will update that pack using up a lot more of the end users space on a pack that is only used for a singular purpose where as the mods independently can be used on multiple servers that use the individual mods like your suppose to imo. So my overall rating of doing this is a 1/10 I wont stop you but a harsh ribbing and a long winded explanation of why you shouldn't do it will be handed to the point where I can understand why many disallow repacking because of these many posed reasons because I see no reason you would need to repack the mods into your own pack. And before someone says its a scary long list Id much rather have a comprehensive manifest of what's on the server even if its a long list instead of a mystery box pack that could have physically anything in it without you knowing what's in it or even knowing just how big it is without first downloading it.

eactly any mod update wont effect your repack .. this can be useful though if the modder removes something you like in a future update ;)

Anything repacked remove from the command line and replace with your pack .. or you end up with 2 copy's of the mod .. and thankyou for the kind words

What do you do when it says "Could not find part of the path" When trying to create the keys for the PBO?
ensure you have them in the correct place , although that sounds like one of the mods may have a scripting issue
Does repacking reduce the load times in the game? Would it be benificial to do it for an singleplayer only scenario? Or should I keep mods separate?
no it does not increase performance of the server in anyway, for a solo / single player experience i can see no reason to repack

simply update with the publisher .. its the same process but in publisher select the current mod on the left and upload the new files

how are the bisign files generated in the addons folder? do i just leave pbos?
4:24 when we use ds-utils we create bisign files and a key ;) we move them just afterwards into the addon folder ;)
Is there anyway to generate a types file from the pbo?
not really generate, but you can pull the types names from a pbo using pbo manager and copy/paste another types structure and replace name ;)

no simply update through publisher .. it updates the meta that contains the timestamp , but it doesn't require to update the key
