i think the problem that's stressing when it comes to sun's character is that, if we ignore obvious writing problems and focus only on them as we see them in their universe, we're only seeing her through how ongsa views her: the pretty popular girl who so nice and can do no wrong whatsoever. for 10 eps straight, she was constantly put on an unfair pedestal and everyone kinda jumped her the moment she stepped off it for a second and ignored everything that led up to it. so when she does ANYTHING outside of that, it's instantly seen as wrong to people. and her breaking up with ongsa instead of the other way around makes sense, because she said it point blank: she was lied to, by everyone, for months and still forgave; ongsa made decisions for her, for their relationship, without ever asking her even when sun constantly was going out of her way to ask how ongsa was feeling about things or giving her explicit confirmations; and when she finally did make a decision on her own (whether giving up her study abroad is good or bad doesn't matter, she still decided that for herself in the moment), ongsa still tried to override it by saying she HAS to go and basically said sun didn't know what she chose to be happy about. it can be seen as a "dumb" reason to break up, but it makes sense and is valid for sun to be the one to do it because she's ALWAYS the one between them that starts the tough conversations.
and also, because i know episodes start to mix together a lot and it might get lost in memory, by time sun outed ongsa, it had already happened about three other times beforehand. there were accidental ones, like aylin saying it outloud and chareon overhearing, and sun accidentally mentioning aylin and luna at dinner. but chareon outed tinh to ongsa and ongsa to tinh. aylin outed ongsa and technically sun to luna. then luna and alpha outed them both to ton and mawin. the only reason most people aren't calling those for what they are is because they're trying to disguise them as "well, they were HELPING sun and ongsa get together so it's fine!" when really, it's not. it's all outing, whether it's to friends or parents, it all still happened; people just took it more seriously when sun did it because, again, the whole put on a pedestal thing, and because she was hurt/mad when she did it and everyone will always view that worse than supposed help. 'cause, technically, sun is the only one who gave a semblance of "i wronged ongsa, let me apologize" while everyone else just got away with it.

Actually I agree with all of that. Sun definitely wasn’t shown a good portion of the time we only see her through ongsa and ongsa loves her and sees her as perfect so Ofc we see her as that too. And obviously she’s been amazing about a lot of things concerning ongsa but I have said before that sun actually talks to ongsa about things when she notices ongsa is uncomfortable or anything. Whereas ongsa doesn’t tell sun she thinks for sun and tells her friends or someone rather than telling sun first and talking about it.
I do think a lot of us don’t see the scenes where someone gets outed as bad which is because they try to make it not bad and they also try to make the sun outing ongsa scene not bad even though it stands out the most so that’s why it gets the most hate and talk. They were all bad but they made it that way for the show. I do wish they didn’t but it is what it is. It’s definitely dumb that we just forget about the rest tho and make sun the only bad person.
They have so many good lessons in this show but that one is really not visited. Like I hope younger people don’t see it and think outing someone as a friend or partner is okay to do.
