    It has been brought to my attention that I made a huge mistake. I must have misplaced a comma on my data sheet I made for the ringworld. I repeatedly say (and its even in the thumbnail) that the ringworld is 30 million times the area of earth. It is actually *only* 3 million times. My apologies for the error.

      How dare you act human and make mistakes?! “This aggression will not stand!” 😂😂 I LOVE YOU for posting this! I hope A.I. makes a full movie of these books. I would also love to see a series about “The Amber Chronicles” by Roger Zelazney

    I started reading Larry Niven in the early 70s when my wife (who was an avid reader of science fiction) left some books behind after taking everything else in the apartment (including the tv) when she left. I was never much of a reader up to then, but, being board, I started reading some of the books she left behind - including some Larry Niven Known Space collections. What can I say, I LOVED them. I loved them so much, I actually went to a book store (that's how we got books back then) and bought every Larry Niven book I could lay my hands on. I noticed at the back of the books that there were many more of his books out there so I started ordering some form the order forms at the back of the books (again, that's how we got books back then). I have since become an avid reader myself and my house is full of all kinds of books, (mostly science fiction and also Terry Pratchett), but, Larry Niven has always been a favorite of mine. Oddly enough, though, I had never come across another Larry Niven fan...until now. I LOVE your videos (I have watched them all) and look forward to more. Thank you so very much.

      Slightly OT: your story of how you started reading Niven is a familiar one. We Boomers (sigh.) The decade of the 1970's was not kind to young marriages.

      I know this is an old comment but I'm sorry you had to be introduced to Niven that way. I was introduced in 1978, at the age of 14, by my hippy uncle who was a huge scifi fan. Glad you got the same joy out Niven's work that I did.

      Omg baby boy. I wish I had known you back then.. I would have made you a hot toddy and sat right next to you reading those books! I would have also asked you to read The Amber Chronicles by Roger Zelazney with me! I still love to read, but haven’t found *anyone interesting* these last two decades. By any chance, can you suggest a good read for me? (I live in Las Vegas - If you’re anywhere near, let’s meet at the library and have a latte and talk about books!)

    I found a copy of Ringworld in a second hand bookshop years ago, and have read it several times. Amazing book, love it. I'm going on holiday over Christmas and New Year, I'll take it with me and read it again.

    This is such a great video. I've read Ringworld some 6 years ago, and now i wanted to jump into the rest of the series, but discovered i don't remember much of what happened in the 1st novel. This was perfect to catch me up to speed. I wish every book had such a good plot summary.

    I just finished the book for like the 3rd time. And still I found this synopsis quite illuminating. You present the plot in a nice way that I get a little different interpretation and the graphics are a nice touch. My only complaint is that I think his name is Louis - as in "Loo-Wee". But that's probably irrelevant.

    Dude your stuff is great. I'm a Niven and Vance addict and though I've read all the RW books several times as well as the Protector books and othe KSU works, I really enjoy your synopses. You might do some Vance when you get a chance as he is incredibly inventive and very funny.

    Fan art never depicts Puppeteers as I imagined them. In my head, they're always plump, fluffy, and soft. Every artist draws them like 90s dinosaurs. No body fat, no fluff.

    As a reader from an early age, I've been a follower of known space and other works of Larry niven since the beginning from first published to the most recent, I got to say if they had made ringworld instead of star warts, people would have been more thought provoked.

    The summary is very much appreciated, but as a critique of the video - the Klemperer rosette was 5 stars, but in the video you present 5 planets in multiple scenes.

    • @SciFiSecrets
      @SciFiSecrets  ปีที่แล้ว

      "Klemperer described rosette systems as follows:
      Such symmetry is also possessed by a peculiar family of geometrical configurations which may be described as "rosettes". In these an even number of "planets" of two (or more) kinds, one (or some) heavier than the other, but all of each set of equal mass, are placed at the corners of two (or more) interdigitated regular polygons so that the lighter and heavier ones alternate (or follow each other in a cyclic manner).[1](p 163)"
