Wow your journey was so nice. The first place you visited is House of Sampoerna Museum. I made the video too about it. Anyway.. Enjoy Indonesia, there are still lots of great places to visit.
Oh you don't do the free city tour provided by House of Sampoerna? That's the only reason people visit the museum, to get on the free city tour by bus provided by House of Sampoerna. And that's the copy of the original monument of Surabaya, which is located in front of the City Zoo, the ones by the river is not the real thing haha. My suggestion for anyone travelling cities that's not Indonedian major tourist area, like Surabaya, get a local guide to take you around. They will probably take you to places more interesting than the ones usually listed on the internet. Surabaya is a city for Gastro tourism and Shopping tourism, so that's the only two things you should be focused on when visiting Surabaya, other form of tourism seems lacking, so whenever you go to Surabaya just shop and eat, try for famous local restaurant, don't waste your time visiting monuments because it'll be just it, something that you'll see only for 5 minutes then you'll have to go because the sun's too hot. If you want to visit something noteworthy just go to the Mangrove Forest (where you can traverse the river delta by boat), otherwise seek for local cuisine or soend your time shopping.
I feel very ashamed of some of the bad sidewalks there, even though I am not a resident of Surabaya but I am very embarrassed by that, which shows the poverty side

Including years in Middle East and 8 years in Europe especially The Netherlands. You haven't seen the other side of those big cities around the world the media hasn't shown you yet. That's why I decided to go back to this "Emerald of Equator". Surabaya and surroundings the whole East Java, in fact, are part my childhood memories as well. Me and my friends in 1999 represented our private boarding school through our marching band to perform on independence day ceremony at Grahadi. Ive been all arround capital city in SE asia, and Surabaya is one of the best city u can compete, Surabaya is even better than Jakarta for that matter.
Came to know this beautiful city when my wife and I had to take a ferry from Bali to Surabaya during the Mt Agung eruption. Since then we made it point to detour to Surabaya every time we visit Bali.

They dont call you bule if your foreigners like me who is live in the U.S. for a long time or growing up here with yellow skin in my case. If you dont look like " bule" they know your foreigner and will not call out " foreigner" either. Keep up with the great video and also nice angle on every shots. 😁
OMG you should’ve looked for the pedestrian bridge to your left from Grahadi, instead of jaywalking like that, very dangerous. But you’re not the first, I’ve seen a lot of tourists jaywalking like that. So there must be something that makes it not easily understood. Should be a homework for the local government. Might lack signs.
Mohd Roos yeah, I landed at 12.00 and saw everything that same afternoon and evening. Flew back to Jakarta the next day. It was literally 24 hours on Surabaya.

Mohd Roos I cant remember exactly,. I got the hotel to book me a bluebird taxi and told them where I wanted to go. It was maybe 300K.
