Was a rock DJ back in the Sixties when this came out. Was a big Easybeat fan here in the States.

George young was older brother of Malcom young & Angus young (AC/DC) I think he also was his young brothers producer.

The song didn't chart in England and the US because the censors didn't like the line "discovering someone else in your bed".
It's agood song though, and probably would have charted had radio been allowed to play it.

Turns out this was the inspiration for Dio and Sabbath's Heaven and Hell...at least the title.

This is the third single from them that is just not good enough. A perfect but unfortunate example of how excellent musicians/singers will, nevertheless, commercially fail when the material is substandard. Compare this to The Who in the same period. Great, much better songs than this, also played and sang by great musicians/singers, and even they had trouble getting going. Also, think of the Kinks' and Animal's singles. This was their competition and a high bar it was, to be sure.
Except for Friday OMM, they didn't chart high enough to create a sufficient buzz. Such a shame. I guess Friday OMM was an outlier. Another one or two as good as that following it up and they would have become superstars.
'For all sad words of tongue and pen, the saddest are these, 'It might have been'.

I don't pretend to agree this and other tracks were up with the best I feel they hit the UK scene too late . If they had started the career over there and not in Aus they would have assimilated smoothly They do have a unique and powerful catalogue

Do you know how much money and management fire power the who possessed compared to the Easybeats money was a constant struggle more guidance was needed they were teenagers in a rough and tumble market with little support and I'm bloody proud of them

@@lindsaykelly2224 You have every bloody right to be proud, mate. I like their stuff. This song is not terrible, it's good, but not in the same league as their competition of that time, that's all. They were great musicians and singers, I understand that they were fine people as well, just not great writers.
The Who and the others I mentioned all also had hard times getting going and in the beginning money was always too little and too hard to come by. That Townshend and Davies were brilliant songwriters and their bands recorded mega hits was what took them over the top and eventually got them the funding and publicity that they (and the EBs) deserved.
The song is the thing. Without great material, nothing, or very little will happen.
Please don't get me wrong, I always was and am a fan, and I wish that they had succeeded in the Britain and in the States, etc., but as you said, the money wasn't there for them because those who supply such did not think the hit songs were there, the great FOMM, notwithstanding.
They were the proverbial "one hit wonder" in the States. Such a pity.

@@Glicksman1 crazy things happen their song writing was getting better with every track and then they got to London and out of the blue they sacked the Stevie from the proven team because they felt the lyrics were too simple for the big time please listen to I’ll make you happy and sorry and tell me they made a mistake yes please include Harry but don’t break up the team that got them to the UK
