Hello sir nice video, however, I got the 360x waterforce version and I have a problem with it which I can't control either the rgb or the rpm of the fans, auros engine doesn't read it for some reason i have it on normal SATA cable with multiple headers but I got nothing but the aio connected and, I have downloaded the latest auros engine software 2.1.4 including rgb fusion, as for the firmware 1.6 or 1.2 for some reason it says device not connected I'd really appreciate your help thanks in advance...
@@woluqa649 I will have to read the manual to get your some information on that, since I don't have the device, I am guessing and the other would be the manual, the X and Non-X variants of these are VERY different, I would HIGHLY recommend to read the manual, I will do that later today to see if I can help you. Was there any settings you updated in the BIOS to force it to use the USB Header rather than the CPU_FAN header? I have seen some other videos where that was the case?
@@FallenKun this video is on the Waterforce 240, not the X. CPU Fan error means you have to tell the BIOS that you are not using the cpu fan so you tell it to ignore the rpm's for the Cpu fan.
Great video! Although the only thing I don't understand is why every review like this glosses over the actual plugging in the device to the motherboard, which is arguably the most challenging part of the install. Like where did you plug it into? I know you said USB but aren't these supposed to plug into CPU_Fan or CPU pump or something? So much time was spent on the actual mounting which is really the easiest part of installing this, just some feedback but otherwise really great video!
Thank you, but I thought I went over it pretty well. You can't plug a USB header into a CPU Fan header, it went to a USB header, like it was supposed to. If you like, you can check the unboxing video and see all the cables, but I went over everything pretty well, the fans go into the fans, and they stop there, the cable goes through the sheathing to the pump, the pump, has 2 connections,.. 1 for power and the other is USB. The USB is controlled through software and PWM within the BIOS. Mounting is easy when you've done it before, I cover from A to Z, to help people that don't know how to mount and people that don't know how to connect and people that don't know how to connect. Another thing is many confuse with the X240... but this is just the 240. Thanks again for your kind words and I hope my reply helps affirm the video for you.
I understood that you could put gift or images or even the real-time temperature of the processor, am I wrong? or am I talking about another version? If you could guide me please.

well, I am not sure which fans you bought and if it was good, being that the fans that come with liquid cooling units are usually pressure optimized, where as regualr case fans are not, so they may not cool as well or die quicker. If you are struggling where to play in the fans, maybe this splitter from my amazon affiliate link will help: geni.us/AH88T
So just to clarify, after all the cablers are connected together and then to the pump/aio, the only cables that need to be connected are to the USB header and Sata Cable for power. So nothing else needs to be connected to AIO/fan headers or ARGB headers?
@@billybobs1705 I am using push, pushing the air through the radiator our the top of the case. To suck hot air out of the system as heat rises, pretty sure I mention that.
@@ferdinandschnitzler6022 Yes, the only different was the X version has an additional connector. A SATA that powers and connects the screen. Just don't do like me: I had the radiator fans plugged into the same splitter as my case fans when they didn't need to be. It created a power loop and would let my PC fully power down😂
The one at the end just hangs there, so you can connect more, I left it along because it was irrelevant for the task at hand. I show you how to install the Aorus Waterforce 240. With aRGB cables, you connect one to the end with power, the board or the pump, then you cant connect on end to another fan to give that one power for aRGB, and the next fan for power for aRGB and the next and the next. So yes, I explained and showed you what the RGB cables I connected.
@ThisBytesForYou so is I'm assuming the one from the radiator into fan 1, then daisy into fan 2 and fan 3, then that last one on end of last fan is to another fan if you wish ? It's not clear which way the chain is going. You have said one at end, but one at end could be radiator or last fan.

The X (this is not the X) allows you to apply various useful designs on the cold plate to tell you the temperature, rather than gauge if off of color like the non X (this one), kind of cool. The X supports more Intel CPU's, Intel 2066, 2011,1366,115x,1200,1700 while the non X supports only Intel 2066, 2011-3, 1366, 115x, 1200. The Bearing Type on the X is sleeve, while the non X is ball bearings so the X supports very slightly more airflow, the X has a range of air pressure, while the non X only has 1, but it is higher, so that is a plus on the non X. The X has a higher life expectance than the non X, and the X produces less noise. The Installations are slightly different as well. All in all the X is better, but AORUS sent me the non X to review, and thats OK of course, I need to test them all. I hope that answers your question.

Sorry bud, that is the Waterforce 240X, this is the 240, confusing on Gigabytes part I know, this one does not display GIF's and I have not reviewed the one that does.
@ThisBytesForYou I installed the x360 version of this one yesterday and I see that you also dont have the option in the Aorus Engine to change the display of the CPU cooler LCD display. Normally next to "pump mode" there should be an option to put the display in "Enthusiast mode" which allows you to display the temp and several other features on the display. I have spent many hours searching for a solution to this and found nothing (except the fact that you need to have a 5-pin SATA which I have, and that you can not have any other device connected to that specific SATA connection on the PSU which I don't). I was wondering if you have any input on this subject?
@@ThisBytesForYou Apologies I saw that you touched this subject in your video. I indeed have the normal 360 version (I was under the impression I had the x version), which explains why i cannot display the temperature. In any case thank you for solving my self created problem :p

Looking at putting together a new system. Plan to get the X version for being able to play gifs on the screen. Only one I can find that I can put on micro SD card rather than the same few second clip over and over. So anyway. I am not a fan of their lights. I really like the Corsair ones. Can I swap out the fans for those? Not sure how it affects it or understanding all the connections yet. Been 10 years since I built my last system. Lots changed. Not sure how it works with the coolers software. Confused on how or if the software for the cooler knows those 3 fans are for it. So is it possible? Thanks.
It should, but I don't recommend it, because you want to make sure the fans you are replacing them with have the same or better static pressure, that are made for liquid cooling, looks are nice and all, but you want your unit to work well. Make sure you get a 360, instead of a 280 and you are doing right getting the X, much better.
@@ThisBytesForYou I've spent a good amount of hours researching. I think I decided to go with Corsair. The more I look and read the more issues I hear of Gigabytes software issues. Lack of customization, and various other issues. Also 1 less piece of software ill have to run since I'll be using Corsair RAM. But thanks for your help. Now I just have to decide on the right CPU.

So, what I recommend is an Arctic Freezer II 360, with the fans they bring, I wouldn't recommend Corsair for RAM, as for specific RAM, it would depend on what CPU you want. hey i have a question. so my AIO cooler (h100i elite capellix) is completely managed by SATA power, using iCUE to manage the fan speeds and what-not - not managed by the BIOS. but i have a pump tach cable that i must connect to CPU_FAN, i have a z690 tuf gaming motherboard which does NOT allow me to disable the q-fan control. the only thing i can do is set curves, profiles, and choose between DC or PWM. what should i set the pump tach cable that's plugged into CPU_FAN to? DC or PWM mode? ive been trying between the two, been reading some forum threads. people are saying put it on PWM and it works great on PWM but i dont get why because it's only a 3pin cable. should i change it to DC since its only a 3pin pump tach cable? leave it on PWM? been really scratching my head at this. PWM works flawlessly but i notice my temps were a few degrees higher so it had me worried.
yes, its powered by SATA power, it's supposed to be. As per the manual, the only time you would connect to the cpu_fan header, would be if you are using the commander core,, you haven't said you are, so I am assuming you are not? Are you using the Commander core?
@@jeffwidjaiwdjawd2331 in advanced mode, under monitor, you would set the cpu fan speed to ignore. Under QFan, set it to DC since its a 3pin cable and you should be good.

When I wanted to start the computer, it gave me the error that the CPU FAN does not detect. I opted to connect one of the fans to that port, but the computer has blue screened me many times. Any solution? Thanks and great video!
This cooler does not connect to the CPU fan header or pump header. It only connects to your motherboard via USB. That's it. This is done to force you to use their shitty proprietary software to control the pump. Some motherboards will not run unless you have something connected to the CPU fan header.
It's not to force you, it's the way it was designed. All boards will run without something connected to the CPU fan header, unless it's an extreme budget board that has no header control. At that point, liquid cooling isn't helping no mater what.
i set the fan header the liquid cooling unit was connected to to PWM so that it can regulate itself, I thought I showed that. Thanks so much for your kind words.
I think about this watercooling for my ryzen 5900x but i have installed be quiet Lightwings for my Case, can i use them instead of the original Fans for the watercooling? Now i use arctic freezer sports 34 duo for cooling the CPU but it is sometimes really loud, will the watercooling be a better Option?
water cooling should be nice, you can use your own fans, but the Waterforce fans have higher pressure which makes them better for liquid cooling, pulling/pushing air through the radiator, the be quiet fans will make more noise and maybe die sooner since they will be doing more work. The stock fans in the Waterforce would be best for you. Also, you commented here, there on facebook, you saw the video here and commented here, like you should, where you can see I help everyone, but then within the same minute you commented on facebook, don't do that, thats so much extra work for nothing. Keep everything here
@@ThisBytesForYou why would the Lightwings die sooner? I know be quiet use the same on their own watercoolers...but i didnt know that i can use them on a gigabyte one (i have gigabyte mobo and gpu). So it means i can what ever Fan on any cooling System
because they will need to work harder, since they have less static pressure than the Gigabyte fans, so they will have to work harder to dissipate the same amount of heat. If you want to use them go for it, you asked what my thoughts were, so I provided them. They both use a 4Pin PWM connection.
@@ThisBytesForYou i will use be quiet lightwings high speed, they are made for watercooling because they have a high static pressure and they are more silent as the original fans for the cooling, thanks for you thoughts^^
I'm honestly surprised this cooler worked out of the box for you. I've sent the 240 back, as the LEDs didn't light up, the cooler wouldn't turn on at boot, the software caused blue screens and never detected the Motherboard or AIO. This cooler caused thermal shutdown on 4 occassions, with once happening overnight while I was sleeping. The fans turned off in the middle of the night and overheated the proc. The fans either ran at 100% or not at all.
I wonder if maybe they developed issues in the manufacturing process later, as you saw, zero issues here, it ran great, for a 240 at least. Sorry you are going through that my friend. That is really horrible, turning off at night, insane. This is the first Aorus liquid cooling unit I have reviewed, so it left me with good impressions, but that kind of scares me.
@@ThisBytesForYou That's what scared me as well. Not only did I have an issue with the cooler, I had an X570 Gigabyte board that was DOA and wouldn't boot with a new AM4 and was failed the low-power state BIOS update(or posting to BIOS) so Gigabyte hasn't really left a good taste in my mouth. I'm glad it works because it looked damn good. Good luck to you!

Is it fine if I just plug my Lian Li fans which are on the AIO into the Fan Hub which Lian Li provided with the fans. Appreciate your help
you should be able to use what ever fan you like, and the reason you don't see a cpu fan cable is because it utilizes USB to control the pump and then utilizes PWM to control the fans. @@ThisBytesForYou I have AORUS WATERFORCE COOLER 240 AIO. Also I have 12900K and it is important to have fine tuning on all fans because of very high CPU temperature, thanks.
Yup, been doing this for a very long time, it is always important So that I can help, please list the manufacturer and exact model number of the following components: 1. Motherboard - manufacturer and exact model number 2. CPU - manufacturer and exact model number 3. RAM - manufacturer and exact model number 4. Video Card - manufacturer and exact model number 5. Power supply - manufacturer and exact model number 6. Case - Manufacturer and model number In this case, how many fans do you have in the front, and are they blowing in or sucking out, in the back, how many fans do you have and are they blowing in or sucking out, and on the top, if you have space for it, how many fans do you have and are they blowing in or sucking out,
@@ThisBytesForYou The only way to control the operation of the aio fans is to connect them to the fan headers on the motherboard (2 fans using a Y splitter). In the Aorus engine software itself, this cannot be done, but certain profiles can be selected, but it is not efficient enough. Then use the bios fan control on the motherboard OR the Aorus SIV application and Smart Fan 5 advanced settings to regulate the fan speed. For my 1200k processor it was necessary to make an undervolt adaptive offset -0.05V in the BIOS and set the CPU Core volatage to 1.21V. In this way, the Cinebench 23 does not exceed 91C in 10 minutes of operation, in which case the Aorus Waterforce 240 cooler may be enough for 1200K but high overclocking cannot be done to achieve maximum results with 12900K because a cooler of this size cannot efficiently cool this processor. If pc case supports then in case of high overclocking should consider Artic freezer II 280 or 420 or custom loop (240 and 320? as far as I saw on youtube they can't support very high overclocking). Thanks.
@@davor1306 That is correct my friend, BUT your over all case cooling and fan placement have a HUGE affect on this, which is why I asked. you don't need to for AIO's (All in Ones), they are usually filled with fluid. When you buy a custom liquid cooling unit, you have build it up and add your own liquid. AIO's are very friendly and affordable, usually will not spill and work really well, but don't cool as well as the custom loops. Custom loops cool incredibly well, can run a higher risk of leaking, cost a lot more and are difficult to assemble. I hope this helps.
yes, and I go over that in here, th-cam.com/video/3l8qjtl6z7s/w-d-xo.html although, I will be doing a 690 build, very soon, liquid cooled too, stay tuned my friend: th-cam.com/video/sWtYzYybpOg/w-d-xo.html

Problems: 1- only the pump is working. 2- the coolers only turn if you disconnect the usb from the pump. 3- the leds do not work. 4- lcd screen does not turn on.

Hey, can you explain me which cable you mean with the end at 8:29? Is it the one from the radiator or from a fan because i have the waterforce X 280 version and i've got a problem with the fans. I cant change the rgb on the fans. In the rgb software it also shows me that i am using the 240version but i can change lcd panel and the fans rpm. I started with the one from the radiator then connected it to fan 1 and then fan 1 to fan 2 so that the end is at fan 2.
they would all come from the radiator, there is no ARGB cable on the pump. They sadly always show the 240 version, as you can see in the video, so you need to install AORUS ENGINE and RGB Fusion 2.0 if its not included in the package, you have change the pump speed, then change the fan speeds afterwards, I go over this in the video.

well the Auros has more rear USB ports, I like that. The Unify looks sexier and has right angled ports, sata and USB 3.0, as well as a heatsink fan. Aside from that, they are basically the same. Which company do you feel more security with, MSI or Gigabyte/Aorus? I have reviewed MSI boards in the past, many boards and they are nice, I have not reviewed any gigabyte/Aorus boards though.

so you want to make sure you don't kink up the hoses, as that will stop proper liquid flow. Having the tubes lay on the card adds to gpu sag, because typically they don't gently lay there, they push down. Also, if your card gets too hot, it could end up heating up the liquid, just make sure you have proper system airflow.
Couple of notes: The sticker on the copper plate leaves residue that can act as a heat insulator, which is bad for temps. Worst case scenario use a grinder to remove it. The thermal paste provided is crap. Use a different one.

Wait,... what are you trying to use RGB fusion on? You have 4 pieces of RGB software, potentially, in order of importance. MSI - Mystic Light RGB Gigabyte - RGB Fusion Gskill - Trident Z Lighting Control ZOTAC - FIRESTORM Are you trying to control something other than the gigabyte software with Fusion? Mystic light can control just about everything, other than the Graphics card and the Gigabyte software. Gigabyte makes awesome hardware, but the software is not so great.
so the issue I see is that gigabyte causes all other RGB software to have issues. I recommend completely uninstalling RGB Fusion, and all the gigabyte software, if any time the uninstaller asks you to restart,... restart your computer, do not skip a single restart, when you are back in windows, continue uninstalling. Once you are done with all the Gigabyte software, then uninstall all the MSI software, and restart when it asks. If you use FIRESTORM from ZOTAC or whatever other RGB software from them, uninstall it the same way too. Once you are done, reinstall the MSI stuff, restart when it asks you too then test, make sure everything works. When you are done there, reinstall all the Zotac stuff (if msi Mystic sync doesn't control it, if it does, don't install it, if it does, install it), then restart when it asks you too and test your RGB, make sure it all works. After all that install Gigabyte control center, make sure it works, restart if it asks you, it "should" install RGB fusion, test it.

So one of the fan's cables is not connected? I have the Waterforce x240 and been struggling with that cable

Can I set cpu temperature in cooler display????? If this possible then why you skip that part of this cooler???
no, not on this model, the X model you can, that is why I skipped it, makes sense right?

I have the 360 but I used Lian li fans instead of the fans that come with the radiator but I’m unsure what to do with the pwm headers
well, I am not sure which fans you bought and if it was good, being that the fans that come with liquid cooling units are usually pressure optimized, where as regualr case fans are not, so they may not cool as well or die quicker.
The video clarifies it all, also realize this is not the x

You haven't explained what rgb cables you connected.
Is the one on the end the last fan or the radiator ?

Sorry my friend, this is not the X, they are different
So whats the difference between the first aorus aio liquid cooler 240. Then this new one waterforce 240?

Do you have this version or the X version?

@@mikecarter8880 Gigabytes software is horrible, their hardware is great, but it's hard to change the mind of some people (you don't have a cpu in mind, you only cared about the GIF, to me, your PC will be more for looks than performance), so sometimes I don't waste my time.
So, what I recommend is an Arctic Freezer II 360, with the fans they bring, I wouldn't recommend Corsair for RAM, as for specific RAM, it would depend on what CPU you want.
What is your budget, and if you would like my help, provide the specs of the parts you have come up with, then tell me do you want my honest opinion or will your guard be up the entire time? What do you plan on using your PC for?

hey i have a question. so my AIO cooler (h100i elite capellix) is completely managed by SATA power, using iCUE to manage the fan speeds and what-not - not managed by the BIOS. but i have a pump tach cable that i must connect to CPU_FAN, i have a z690 tuf gaming motherboard which does NOT allow me to disable the q-fan control. the only thing i can do is set curves, profiles, and choose between DC or PWM. what should i set the pump tach cable that's plugged into CPU_FAN to?

Hello! I recently installed this cooler on my computer, but at no time did I connect a fan or water pump to the port called "CPU FAN". When I wanted to start the computer, it gave me the error that the CPU FAN does not detect. I opted to connect one of the fans to that port, but the computer has blue screened me many times. Any solution? Thanks and great video!
so.... did you watch this video, I show you were to connect everything.
What did you do in bios? Great helpful video though!!
i set the fan header the liquid cooling unit was connected to to PWM so that it can regulate itself, I thought I showed that.
@@ThisBytesForYou i will use be quiet lightwings high speed, they are made for watercooling because they have a high static pressure and they are more silent as the original fans for the cooling, thanks for you thoughts^^
good stuff my friend, let me know how it goes.
Any idea why changing the fan modes doesnt do anything for me? Zero RPM or Max, doesnt change the fan speed either way.
did you follow the information on this video?
Good luck to you!
eeeek, maybe check this one out, the liquid cooling in this system is awesome, but Arctic always does a great job, its AM4 as well, a complete AMD system: th-cam.com/video/XCggwcWdWsI/w-d-xo.html, actually using a X570S AORUS Master motherboard.

The whole software is inefficient and it is very difficult to control the operation of the fan. Looks like I'm going to have to connect the fans to the CPU fan header. I will still try to install all three software from the video again. Thanks for the video, but in my HW info the fan speed does not change depending on the CPU temperature. In this case, how many fans do you have in the front, and are they blowing in or sucking out, in the back, how many fans do you have and are they blowing in or sucking out, and on the top, if you have space for it, how many fans do you have and are they blowing in or sucking out,
@@ThisBytesForYou The only way to control the operation of the aio fans is to connect them to the fan headers on the motherboard (2 fans using a Y splitter).
@@ThisBytesForYou I have both programs.
I can change everything. only the rgb from the fans won't change. I saw a video and in the rgb software it was showing waterforce 360.
@@KingEspada98 did you download and install the latest from the X 280 support site, not the 280, specifically the X280, there is a difference and make sure to uninstall the old versions.
@@ThisBytesForYou yes, i even updated the firmware. Maybe the other rgb software are causing a conflict cuz i have icue also installed. I will deletet all rgb software and then reinstall aorus engine.
@@KingEspada98 oh oh oh oh oh, yes, RGB software does not play well with other RGB software. See if the icue software can control it without the Gigabyte Auros RGB software installed.

so you didn't watch the video?
@@ThisBytesForYou I watched the video, I just wanted to make sure since I'm new to building PCs.
and then about the plug, what did you gather from my video?
that I need to plug it into the internal USB 2.0 port, also every time I turn on the PC it takes me to the BIOS and saying something about the CPU fan error so is there something I must disable in the BIOS?
ok, your on the right path, so yes, plug it in, and in the BIOS you need to set CPU Fan to ignore, since you are not using CPU fan, you are using an Asus board

when you download the firmware for your pump, inside of the zip, there is a a AORUS Waterforce X Firmware Update Instructions manual, it shows you how to do it. Download version F1.6: www.gigabyte.com/Thermal-Solution/AORUS-WATERFORCE-X-240/support#support-dl-firmware
I am having trouble with the AIO. All cables are connect properly and in the correct place but when I try to setup the firmware, i keep getting a "device was not found" error. How do I fix that?
sounds like you are using the Waterforce X, you have to use an MicroSD card which is on the pump itself.
@@ThisBytesForYou Yes I am. However, even then when I plug in the MicroSD card, I still get the same error. I cleared and formatted the SD to Fat32 as stated in the instructions.

Hello msi x570 unify or gigabyte x570 aorus master rev 1.2 😭😭😭😭😭
well the Auros has more rear USB ports, I like that.
Is it ok to have the tubes touch on the gpu backplate my new board moved the gpu up a bit and it’s touching
sometimes it's the only way, but if there is anyway to avoid it, without impeding liquid flow, or kinking the hoses, please try.
@@ThisBytesForYou can move the tubes without ruining the look of my Beautiful pc I have the 3080ti ftw3 and it gets home what damage could happen I’m using a Corsair h100i se platinum 240mm aio, noticing my coolent temp is higher then before
so you want to make sure you don't kink up the hoses, as that will stop proper liquid flow. Having the tubes lay on the card adds to gpu sag, because typically they don't gently lay there, they push down. Also, if your card gets too hot, it could end up heating up the liquid, just make sure you have proper system airflow.
@@ThisBytesForYou thanks for the reply I found a solution now there a few inches away from the card
@@nostalgiaholic4874 good stuff my friend
Couple of notes:
The sticker on the copper plate leaves residue that can act as a heat insulator, which is bad for temps. Worst case scenario use a grinder to remove it.
The thermal paste provided is crap. Use a different one.
Not a great way to review it if I use something different because not everyone will have something also, not everyone will have a grinder to remove any residue but thank you for your input.

Just picked that cooling system. It's was in use but in perfect looking condition. But as I flip the radiator in hands, it feels that there is some air movement inside of radiator - won't that be a problem? Because you don't want any air in your automobile cooling system :)

Wait,... what are you trying to use RGB fusion on?
You have 4 pieces of RGB software, potentially, in order of importance.
MSI - Mystic Light RGB
Gigabyte - RGB Fusion
Gskill - Trident Z Lighting Control
ZOTAC - FIRESTORM
Are you trying to control something other than the gigabyte software with Fusion? Mystic light can control just about everything, other than the Graphics card and the Gigabyte software. Gigabyte makes awesome hardware, but the software is not so great.
@@ThisBytesForYou i can control rgb fan with rgb fusion and i can control ram with msi center but rgb fusion doesn't work
so the issue I see is that gigabyte causes all other RGB software to have issues.
Cool thanks 🙏💚
