In this video we go over the on-court performance of the Puma Playmaker Pro.
Cushioning and comfort level surprised me with how nice and soft they feel on feet, and they’re very easy to break in. Traction did not perform well on a dusty court from my experience, and I was not able to get to hard and full stop consistently. Given the amount of space I have inside and some heel slippage, I’d recommend going down a half size for the best secure fit. Stability is below average, since the upper is too soft to be supportive enough for some players.
Let me know what you think about the Puma Playmaker Pro in the comments! If you can find a good deal on them later on, I think this is still at least worth trying as a pair of budget shoes with decent comfort.

I tried these, the red colorway, in a shop and I wasn't convinced. I was looking forward to them. They are big and clunky and don't seem to offer much stability but are very comfortable, both the upper and the midsole feel nice. Even though I have never played in a Puma shoe I feel the older models like Legacy and Clyde looked way better. Plus, Puma sizing is weird, I wear regurarly 10 US/44 EU in Nike and for Puma it's 8.5 US/42.5 EU (similar to Vans for example). Hope it helps people ordering online.
Can we appreciate how Tommy matches the socks with the same brand as the shoes on a consistent basis? It’s the small little things that show his showmanship!

When it comes to Traction to me Puma got it on lockdown 💯. The bottom of these reminds me of the Curry’s but there not foam.. if you spend a few more bucks on a better insole even though these ain’t bad, then you’ll have yourself a sneaker that feels like there better then most top tier Nikes But better. You can never go wrong with Puma sneakers for ball just add a better insole and it’s going to be a huge increase in everything from a little more bounce to reaction and comfort.💯
I got these in white with the blue translucid ruber outsole as black friday sale for 34 bucks (best colourway Imo but looks like it was only sold trough limited websites because I can't find it on puma's shop) and the traction is great even on dusty court ! (often the case for tranlucid rubber). Even if they are not supper responsive and not so light, they feel light on feet and comfortable because the sole is flexible (When you bend the shoe it folds in the middle contrarily to most basketball shoes who only have flex in the forefoot and all the rest is stiff). My only complaint would be that the forefoot roof is high so your toes have room to wiggle up and down which can cause blisters so definitely go half a size down or add a thicker insole.
Love your reviews Tommy, and I like the fact that you review budget models. I personally don't like to put 200 in a shoe made for 20 dollars

Also don’t feel that heavy thanks to the softness, I wish I had gotten that colorway then cause the traction does differ by colorways sometimes…
I like this shoe...its still clearanced out in some spots...I'd imagine that half size down and an orthopedist recommended insole would make it a very good shoe. I'd go with a white outsole.
@@jimmywarren01 Definitely. Also I don't think the colorway I'm talking about is available in the US (white with blue translucid outsole) I only see it trough the Zalando website (European shop). I'm not sure the white solid rubber from the other white models is any better than the black one from this video.
@@TommyLiu4 Definitely ! Also unrelated but would you pick the flow futur X2 or the new balance xy V3 ? They look like the best contenders in the 120 price range. Better court feel for New balance but better traction for new UA ?
@@blobpoop457 Oh I’d take the TWO WXY V3 for sure. Didn’t like the Flow FUTR X 2 much cause it’s unstable and traction was not very good on dust. Two Wxy V3 is one of the top 5 performers of the year to me. 😃

Thank you!! I’ll go with Clyde All Pro, Clyde Court, Court Rider 2.0, RS Dreamer and TRC Blaze Court. Uproar I like a lot too, I never had the Clyde Hardwood but man Puma’s been consistently delivering great performance basketball shoes for sure.

How’s torsion/ arch support? Traction doesn’t rlly matter outdoors imo, but having bad torsion is a deal breaker for me
Average at best, given the super soft upper materials, torsional support probably wouldn’t be sufficient if you value that the most. That’s true for outdoors as long as it’s durable, which I think this outsole should be.

@@juxyclips671 Umm I’d go with the first Giannis Immortality, but not the 2 cause comfort went downhill on them from my experience as the midfoot became a lot tighter.

I’ve got the same shoe but different color way and I only bought it because its on sale and got it for like $40 Aud haha. Yes, the traction was 100% rubbish when I first tried it on even on a clean hardwood court. No grip at all. But after few usage, on and off court the traction became good like 8.5/10. But then, it became so grippy that I’m breaking my own ankle because of the poor stability of the shoe. Anyways, it’s a good looking budget shoe and for how much I got it, so I probably shouldn’t be complaining 😂 I still use it sometimes though 😂

I already saw it here in Manila and I think it performs well. Question is, the rubber outsole can endure outdoor hooping?
👍 Durability I think it should be fine. I just haven’t used them outdoors, so can’t be certain.
@@TommyLiu4 thank you for that review for budget hoops shoes. It helps a lot for us to choose wisely and at the same time, being practical in purchasing shoes for hoops. Rising inflation rate greatly affect the ordinary people shoe purchases.

Tommy is the cushion still good for you? Weartesters only give 4/10 for cushioning
It’s very soft and comfy on feet but not responsive and also too flexible to me so stability and support are lacking. This pair, the traction got better actually and cushioning is still the same.
Only issue i have with these was the heel lockdown.
Yup that is one concern for me too. So I think going down a half size may be best for average-narrow feet.

Hey Tommy I’m a size 14 with really really wide and I tried the KD Trey 5 X and they were way to narrow. I’m thinking of buying the puma court rider 2.0 But I don’t know if they would be good. What would you recommend
Hey. Yeah the KD Trey 5 X is more like average-narrow width. The Court Rider 2.0 is wide foot friendly, you can also go up a half size to be safe but I’m not too sure if they have that size. Either way the Court Rider’s will give you a better fit than most Nike shoes honestly. 😃

Very skeptical for a 45 euros shoe, but it's pretty decent for the money. The profoam is too stiff, compared to other profoam shoes and not very stable if you're a big dude... traction I didn't have problems in a clean hardwood
I see. Yeah I think they’d be much better on clean courts. The shoe itself does lack stability for sure, so that’s definitely a concern.

I dont get it why puma need to have 2 versions of outsoles those are translucent and solid, they have differtent quality in the same model for what????? I got MB02 Phenom and ROTY,The traction on Phenom perform not good but ROTY is superb.
