Over the years, Paul has risen to the top of my cadre of favorites that included James Taylor, Joni Mitchell and other great singer songwriters. The beauty and delivery of his vast compilation of songs is only rivaled by certain ones by The Beatles who are not good comparison in terms of style. To truly get to know Paul's music, you have to spend some quiet time with each LP, and note the purpose of each note and lyric. Just great that he is still able to play.

1. Seeing the elite representatives of US government get a free gig.
2. Seeing my musical hero become old and withered.
I think your first comment is off the mark. It’s not about a free gig. This performance is one of the better traditions within government to share culturally relevant art with visiting foreign envoys and delegations. Sharing such treasures speaks to common humanity and brings nations closer together as they celebrate the real things that make life worth living. Mr. Simon has expressed such values his entire career (especially through his Graceland album that highlights the music and some performers from Africa during the time of apartheid in South Africa).

Why does is bother you that he’s old? I thought this performance was very affecting and i think he has leaned into a style of performing g here that suits who he is at the point in his life. I only think the audio is bad here and don’t like how the guitar is mixed.
