Myanmar's junta launches a nationwide census

Groups of teachers, volunteers and administrative staff in Myanmar go door-to-door in Lewe Township, Naypyidaw, collecting information for a nationalwide census. The junta launched the endeavor despite swathes of the country remaining outside of its control, as rebel groups urged people not to take part. The military, which seized power in a coup in 2021, has long pledged to hold elections when conditions permit.
