The CDU/CSU faction in the Bundestag has accused Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) of withholding the desired Taurus cruise missiles from Ukraine for party political reasons. “Once again, the Chancellor is prioritizing party interests over Germany's foreign and security policy interests,” Florian Hahn, the defense policy spokesperson for the CDU/CSU faction in the Bundestag, told the Augsburger Allgemeine on Tuesday. The Chancellor's decision is aimed at securing the support of the left wing of his party in the upcoming election campaign.
