  • One of the most beautiful things in the worship of Our Lord at Mass is music. Marian Postulant Austin explains how sacred music, the song and the language of the angels, is a gift from God that gives expression to the soul and dignifies ritual and worship. Then hear from "Floriani," a talented group of men who believe in the importance of fostering a rebirth in sacred music.
    Watch Fr. Chris Alar, MIC, and the Marian Fathers and Brothers from the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy on our weekly show, "Living Divine Mercy," airing on EWTN every Wednesday at 6:30 pm EST, with an encore presentation on Mondays at 9:00 am EST. Through teaching segments, Bible and St. Faustina Diary excerpts, as well as real-life examples of people who are living Divine Mercy in their lives, you will learn why Jesus said Divine Mercy is mankind's last hope of salvation! Many thanks to you, Fr Chris and Novice Austin for this outstanding episode. Austin’s deep appreciation for his musical talent and knowledge that it’s a gift from God was so evident in his verbal explanations and descriptions. It was striking to hear him, relate that he was told that “chant is the breath of the heart.” Austin is a wonderful blessing to the Marian community. I am thankful that God chose you and I pray for you Austin as you continue on in your vocation. I am happy for you, that you have entered the Novitiate, but sad that we will no longer regularly hear you beautiful voice on the live stream from the National Shrine. Thank you Father Chris for this very special episode. Also, it was great to have Father Anthony check in with us on our Lenten journey. I know I can do better, and I am grateful for the mercy of God, which gives me hope every day.

    My son is studying in St. Michael Choir School in Toronto Canada wherein sacred music is preserve and heard for years and during mass at St. Michael Cathedral Basilica in Toronto,Canada. In 1955, the school was granted affiliation with the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music, becoming one of six choirs and choir schools in the world to share this affiliation. Bis Orat Qui Cantat ( He who sings well, pray twice). Thank you Father Chris and Novice Austin for this episode.

    Thank you, father, for exposing many Catholics about the Gregorian chant is powerful for evil to disperse in the secret space. It is also glorifying our Lord as a beautiful prayer and reverence. God bless you, and your ministry always expose your parishioners as well as your followers, the beauty of our faith, so that we can become saints and give to humanity. Amen.🙏⛪️🌹

    Thank you Father Chris Novice Austin for this under standing of spirit of songs. I sing in my choir and our music that our director picks for us is so wonderful to sing on Sunday. There are times as we sing a feeling comes over me that I start to cry and when mass is over, I leave with a warm feeling inside and smile on my face. Thank you both and God bless you all.😇

    Good night to the Marians Fathers, I live in Mexico, and once my sister was taken sacred music at the Seminary, when her group finished the course, they have a complete mass using the knowledges learned. When I was there, I felt heaven on earth. I have never experienced another mass like it.
    I would like you to consider filming one mass of the liturgy cycle with all the elements of sacred music, so we can feel and experience the grestness of them.
    Thank you very much for your kind reading of this message.
    God bless you all . From Mexico with love and respect.

    I always say that Catholic Liturgy, with his prayers and hymns, transports man to heaven as if he was in the kingdom. That's why I'm proud to be a Catholic. May the Lord bless everyone who serves in Mass, priests, deacons, and people who all praise the Lord Jesus Christ.

    I was so pleased to see this on the music of the Church.
    I am also very proud and blessed that my grandchildren are learning this music and singing/performing at their school, St. J P II Classical school and Chesterton Academy in Green Bay, WI. They also have the same choir directors leading the choirs at St. Patrick's Oratory, Institute Of Christ the King Sovereign Priest's parish. It is so beautiful and keeping ageless Masses and hymns alive. When the students, (and I have to say, every student is in the choir, not like high school sports for instance, with only a few participating,) presented a concert at St. Norbert's College, the bishop's right hand man was heard saying that this gave him hope for the youth. They were honored to sing for Bishop Ricken as well!

    Thank you, Fr. Chris, for this beautiful episode on Sacred Music and to Postulant Austin for explaining it to us. It made me recall the Gregorian chants I participated in the monastery of the Carmelites as a nun. It was indeed so heavenly that one would constantly desire to spend one’s life chanting the sacred songs. The Mother Prioress once said: “ A heart of song is a heart of love, a singing heart is a godlike heart.”
    In our parish church, there’s a Gregorian chant on the first Saturday of the month for the anticipated Sunday mass. Some elderly people have already memorised the chant specially the Pater Noster. We’re so glad that the Gregorian chant has still a special place in the Eucharistic celebration in our church. All praise,honor and glory be to God forever.

    • @alwaysmisskaryn
      @alwaysmisskaryn 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Father Chris is the Provincial Superior for the Marian community in North America and Argentina. I believe that entails the ultimate responsibility for the day-to-day operations for managing all aspects of the community. He works very hours as superior. Plus, he maintains a rigourous schedule of Priestly duties, such as celebrating MASS and the sacraments, visiting the sick, daily prayer time, production of this weekly TV show. He works long days and always places the needs of the community ahead of his need to eat and sleep, We Marian helpers pray for his safety health and protection along with the other members of the Marian community.
