Hey Kip! Great video! Did you end up doing some popping with it? Didn't see another video and was eager to see how it finished up for you. Thanks again and great job man. Cheers
Kevin Tyler yes we popped several events last year.I had plans on making a video and lost some footage...Due to Covid-19 this year were on standby..Thanks for watching more videos coming soon..
@@BigFun4Life I forgot to ask you - was the 80 quart pot big enough for doing some events or would you go bigger next time? Got a line on an 80 quart pot for mine but thought I'd ask you first. Thanks for all the help and great video man! 👍
Kevin Tyler if your building your own 80qt is the way to go and will keep you busy at medium size events...I called several places to have a pot spun and I also called all the big manufacturers of kettle corn machines and the 160 qt pots average 2K plus shipping..Or you could just watch market place on FB or eBay for a complete used unit..Good luck..
@@BigFun4Life kip any updates on that kettle popper? I’m guessing you got into the business and been busy since. So far, is the money good? Was it worth it?
Sorry I did not,I did end up building it into a long arm build. But due to moving I had to let it go.Im hoping to do another XJ build very soon,so stay tuned.
I've just finished building my own popper. But, when I heat up the kettle, it smokes bad and looks like some sort of metal looking coating melts off. Anyone have any experience with this issue?
The kettle I have is a hobart style 80 qt mixing bowl. Food grade. I've looked online and these things are expensive! Luckily, I got mine used from a local restaurant that closed. But I'm just wondering what is with the coating.... to buy a new kettle is at minimum $400. How did you get yours?
Robert Burke I found mine on eBay under $200 shipped..You just got to keep your eyes open also watch Facebook yard sales also ..I’ve popped with it all summer and it’s perfect...
Thanks for video. I just built mine and with inflated material prices I did mine for $650.

I’m not sure what your kettle is made from. Some are just coated steel which I wouldn’t recommend Mine is sold food grade stainless steel...
