The fried ones is my favorite.
I've had the first type and really enjoyed it. I wish I could find it in the US. Next time I go to Taiwan I definitely want to try both of those other ones. They both looked delicious! :D

When I lived in Taiwan in 1973, the camphor tea smoked duck, the Mongolian BBQ and the grilled squid were great but my favorite was the stinky tofu that the man sold from the cart that came down our street. Every time that I heard him coming I would run out on the balcony and flag him down. I have had a couple pretenders in the US but they don't even come close.

Do people smell cheese ? It doesn't smell nice either. nothing fermented smells nice actually..may be a few have no smell or faint smell but even yogurt has a smell

Oh so much protein in one episode :D - i'm a fan of the deep fried ones, but i do know culturally stinky tofu had some soup in it - very different from the Hong Kong one's ive tried :D - definitely game to try this ^_^, there were also a black stinky tofu but i think that is in china?

Gym socks and baby diapers is exactly how I would describe it! Haha I passed by a stall in Jiufen (when I visited Taiwan last February) and it was the worst smell I've ever encountered in my life hahaha
Damn i don't think i could eat those when it stinks so bad haha.
First time, I couldn't eat it. Now, HAVE TO eat it whenever I see stinky tofu! Hot pot one is my favorite, better than the deep fried ones.
Better stinky tofu than HSIEN (SE)TAN LOONG (AH LOONG SALTY EGG... AS STINKY AS WET SOCKS) OR WANG BA TAN (KING OF SALTY EGG).
I had the first fried type with a sweet sauce/cabbage and another kind: a block of soft tofu smothered in a sauce. I loved the first one, and was fine with soft one. If I lived in Taiwan, I can see myself getting addicted to that fried kind.
I can happily have black pudding (literally my fav) but stinky tofu.. scares me!

In the past i used to eat very much chicken blood or pig blood. I liked eating it but now after years i can't find myself to eat it. It kinda looks creepy to me.

I think most Asians are use to the "stank" of tofu. Personally, I have eaten many things that stank that I have enjoyed. As my good friend Herman says "There are two things in this world that smell like fish and one of them is fish!"
I think i would try all 3types of stinky tofu..if food i am adventurer coz i luv food..
I would try all three. I've tried stinky tofu before n the taste is good better than it smells. But if I had to choose out of the three I would try number one just because I like fried tofu.
Those two are so funny!
when i was in Taiwan i had the first stinky one that was crispy. i loved it. the soup one maybe not try. i prefer fried and crispy over soggy tofu. :P
the after taste is actually garlic in the sauce, the tofu itself is actually very mild.
