I think that From Software sometimes lacks a lot of the originality that it had when they started, I think when you have a great successful series that breaks the market and innovates there is no way to come back when they make you the de facto "everything is as hard as your game"
I think that's a really great point. They have no reason to innovate now, and when they stray even a little bit on something like Sekiro, they still won game of the year and it sold well, but there were a lot of people wanting them to stop that and go back to the Souls style. I think they have enough good will to break away now, but they almost have to keep pumping out Souls like games. Elden Ring is one of my favorite games of all time, we can pause on that and do other things for a while and I'd be totally OK with that
@@AbandonedSaveit's nice that they made a new Armored Core at least, showing they're willing to dip back into some older IPs while doing something different from the Souls formula. Certainly with the way the industry has gone most AAA developers can't afford to be as experimental with games like they used to be. Hopefully they feel comfortable enough to balance out their Souls-like games with some different games.
I think sometimes we make responses purely from an emotional standpoint without applying any context to it. FromSoftware had a working formula, which they successfully implemented multiple times and needed to in order to increase their budget for further ambitious and unique projects. The time they made this game, they most probably were still trying or perfecting their formula in order to make more money to create more. That's just the basics of the business.
No, it's literally people want more of the same they like and hate when devs do more creative shit. Nevermind this game was made at a time Japan tried to do stuff with the Xbox, a system for Americans, but Microsoft's Xbox division fucked up so much for the American market for Japanese games, the xenophobia present in the Western market for Japanese games being weird and only.letting a few in because it looked close enough to an American game is the main issue. They had to name their new game Elden Ring just so anyone would realistically play it for a long time based on the interview with the companies head dev on it explaining why they are making a game like this that is also reusing assets and concepts from multiple other games. There is a reason people are unironically thinking they will add Armor Core bosses or Kings Field bosses. Nevermind the bigger reason is focusing do to financial instability.
I bought this game randomly on Steam years ago. Didn't know it was a FromSoftware game (at the time, they weren't a hugely known company). I enjoyed my time with it.
Thr game was during the height of Naruto arriving in the States. This was referred to the low-budget option. As said during banter: "Even Naruto doesn't believe it."
@Abandoned Save There are cast member who were in Ninja Blade, Steve Blum, Kelly Hu, Yuri Lowenthal, and Stephine Sheh. Also, did you know you can get extra costumes and emblems if you speedrun the stages?
This game is from the era I was skinned and using a PC 😂. I remember I got a version that didn't work so I never came back to it. I'm on a wave of nostalgia now and replaying a lot of games that I can buy now. Nostalgia ain't cheap nowadays 😂
Isn’t this the game the other team at FS was making when Miyazaki got directorial control of Demon’s Souls? lol it was seen as the bigger, better game within the company lol
Yeah it came out around the same time. As far as I know the major devs on this game didn't go on to work on the Souls series either. I still think it's fun, but you can't compete with Miyazaki
This is what i call a SWORDMASTER not some punny swordmaster, these big heavy swords that look like metal bar and used as bat club. Ninja Gaiden devs probably were not so much happy about competition.
This game shouldve been a shoo in for backwards compatibility. But it was looked at as competition for ninja gaiden. Imo. Game was fantastic. I still got mine
Sorry but this reminds me of Ninja Gaiden 2. I loved the first part of the series but Ninja Gaiden 2 was such a pain. I figure Kings Quest was by far much more fun than this right?
It's delisted so you had to own it from before that happened. This is emulating the PC version. I would have played it on 360 but I apparently lost my copy
Devs need to spend less money on each game and stop trying to make everything appeal to a wide audience. A $200 million game has to, but if the budgets go back down and they don't risk bankruptcy with every release they could take more risks on character design and gameplay. This is why indie games feel so fresh so often, I think
@@AbandonedSave Definitely. The good thing is it's already happening. AAA games designed by commitee instead of "artist thinks this design looks badass", and generally most AAA games are flopping one after the other. Again and again, that 1% of indie games with meme budgets and low quality art (but not low quality artstyle) with quality gameplay, make more profit AAA games with 5+ years budget. Sure its the exception of indies, but there are like 30 indies released per day, meanwhile you have like 30 AAA released per year lol tl;dr: You are correct. The good thing is the market is already correcting itself.
Remaster so I can play it, we don't have ninja gaiden 4, well a new one is coming out, we rarely get any good ninja games. Like tenchu, Shinobi and others
Hey there, good video and script but some constructive criticism: you could work on your delivery. You sound a bit bored and if you want to get over with it quickly. It might be because you obviously read and don’t improvise. This is fine and you‘ll be getting better at sounding like speaking freely but you should definitely avoid it while being on camera. Keep it up!
Could you check out a PS3 game called El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron? It’s an OG god of war clone about Enoch from the Bible, narrated by Steve Blumcifer that I think you will like and dislike for the same reasons as ninja blade.
@ dude, nice! After I left that comment I saw that there was a rerelease for switch this year tho, it looks like they didn’t fix the couple little problems here and there. It’s not really a sleeper hit anyway, but it tells a pretty good story in a really cool way and that’s always been enough for me to finish a game.
They didn't explicitly mention God of War in any of the interviews I saw, just Hollywood movies, but yeah, I'd say God of War had a hand in this games ideas too
Generic af Ninja man takes on Resident FromSoft Gaiden May Cry - Revengence. Seriously though his default design is so lame. Even giving him like some weird oriental robe would have done him wonders. Either that or just throw him in a chicken suit and commit to the bit lol
Aaaaaaaaahhh the good old year of QTEs. I loved this game so much
Sometimes I miss them, QTEs can be fun. But they were so overused back then people are probably gonna reject them forever
Skateboard-riding a missile, flying a bike, battling a giant snake-like creature, oh Devil May Cry 3, so many fond memories
Wait a minute...
I really need to play that game...
@@AbandonedSave also from the PS2 era, so there's a good chance you'll enjoy it:)
I loved that game as kid so much
Great to see it covered
It was a lot of fun to revisit!
Holy hell, I had no idea this was fromsoft, thanks for the content man!
Glad you liked it! I played this game back in the day and had no idea who they were until many years later!

But this is a ninja gaiden/asura's wrath clone 😅
The only original thing they ever did was invasions

Ninja Gaiden called….they want their EVERYTHING back!
Ninja Gaiden at home
Exactly
Im sick of these comments they play completely different from each other
Ninja Gaiden, if it was good
I bought this game randomly on Steam years ago. Didn't know it was a FromSoftware game (at the time, they weren't a hugely known company). I enjoyed my time with it.
This was a great game. So underrated
This was Asuras Wrath before Asuras wrath, it was so ridiculous
Legit my fav from soft game. Wish they continued this
You see the vision
Hell yeah, Ninja Blade! I made my Japanese Xbox 360 account to download the demo to this one.
When the ninja first jumped from the helicopter, I thought you were saying ''this game jumps right into........cuties''. Good times.
Oh but isn't Kuroh an absolute cutie lmao
Dude I been singing this games praises for years I love it
This game is becoming hard to find in North America.
Yeah I wish I still had my copy. Gonna have to hit up some second hand stores to find one
Thr game was during the height of Naruto arriving in the States. This was referred to the low-budget option.
As said during banter: "Even Naruto doesn't believe it."
I burned my allowance playing this in cyber cafe circa 2012, best game I played that year.
0:53 Yes, I do :)
Echo Night was the first PS1 games I played. Been a fan ever since
I played the original Armored Core but I had no idea what a game dev was back then. They've been killing it for years
@Abandoned Save There are cast member who were in Ninja Blade, Steve Blum, Kelly Hu, Yuri Lowenthal, and Stephine Sheh. Also, did you know you can get extra costumes and emblems if you speedrun the stages?
I did not, that's a decent feature for replayability. I like that
Wow. Another FromSoftware game I've never heard of. Neat.
Wish it was more accessible for people to try
The Devs at Fromsoft must've gotten really depressed to go from this to Souls games forever.
That game made my wait for my 360 to finally play Ninja Gaiden a LOT more tolerable.
It really is a great time. Somehow I've played this twice now, and never played any Ninja Gaiden other than the first one
I'm dying with laughter. This game is nuts.
It's wild lol
I was terrible at ninja gaiden and this game made me feel better about it 😂
Haha it's definitely much easier
that stupid way to die.. I did it to don't feel bad LOL
Lol it told me to push the button so I did
This game is from the era I was skinned and using a PC 😂. I remember I got a version that didn't work so I never came back to it. I'm on a wave of nostalgia now and replaying a lot of games that I can buy now. Nostalgia ain't cheap nowadays 😂
It's really not 😆 The PC version is fucked up so I'm not surprised it didn't work. All aboard the nostalgia train
I loved every moment of this game.

I think you meant Kingsfield, but I actually have no idea as I havent played those games. But I still love Ninja Blade!
i remember when i was very exited for this then dropped it after an hour.
how did you get this on steam? i had to use an emulator to play it because i can't find it digital
It's delisted so you had to own it from before that happened. This is emulating the PC version. I would have played it on 360 but I apparently lost my copy
@Abandoned Save About FromSoftware, they made The Story Of Hero Yoshitsnue
Interesting, I haven't heard of this game. Might be a good candidate for a video if I can get an English patch for it
Larvae can one hundred percent be pronounced both ways. The narrator is correct, and so are you.
I have only heard it the one way, but I was totally willing to be wrong lol
i loved ninja blade iv been hoping for a new one
Who knows, maybe FromSoft will dust it off now that they're done with Elden Ring content
5:18 The modern audience, ruining games since 2015 at least.

Nice Title bro, the algo just sent me this. Keep it up!
Thanks for checking it out! Shout out to Victor Cruz, the fantasy football god
I fucking love this game
Lowkey hoping theyll revisit this game.
I un-ironically called this FromSoft's best game until Elden Ring came out. Now it's second, maybe third behing DS3
I'd personally put Dark Souls 1 and Armored Core 6 above it as well, but I really do love this game
Remaster so I can play it, we don't have ninja gaiden 4, well a new one is coming out, we rarely get any good ninja games.

Thank you! I'm trying to improve as I go and sound more natural. I'll focus on that for the next video

I do have that game! Not the remaster but the old one. That's not a bad idea for a future video, thanks for the suggestion
@ dude, nice! After I left that comment I saw that there was a rerelease for switch this year tho, it looks like they didn’t fix the couple little problems here and there. There is an hd remaster available on steam. This looks dope actually thanks
13:38 😂😂😂🤣
That's perfectly normal motorcycle physics, what do you mean lol
@25:26 No. +1 sin.
this was definitely inspired by god of war
They didn't explicitly mention God of War in any of the interviews I saw, just Hollywood movies, but yeah, I'd say God of War had a hand in this games ideas too
@ i saw the plane thing and stand corrected
looks like sekiro to me
Discount Ninja Gaiden
KUPO!
This game was so fucking good
I remember playing the demo. This game was fun.
Man I loved this game. It was absolutely peak I've replayed it a few times
The todomes get me hyped every time
As someone who was surprised to learn Dark Souls was made by From Software... yeah, I am very aware of the Armored Core series.
I played Armored Core 1 and loved it way before I knew what a developer even was. FromSoft has been great for a long time
Generic af Ninja man takes on Resident FromSoft Gaiden May Cry - Revengence.
Seriously though his default design is so lame. Even giving him like some weird oriental robe would have done him wonders. Either that or just throw him in a chicken suit and commit to the bit lol
The outfits you can unlock I suppose add something, but they're all ugly as sin lol
Dudes who were born in the 2000s dont realize videogames were actually creative once and not just remasters
Lol awesome game
This game was terrible, even for its time, aged like milk too, not to mention it’s a blatant ninja gaiden rip off
False
Horrible take.
It was very good not terrible
This was a cool game. Way better than Shittiro.
I still have my original copy 🥷🏿🥷🏿
Wish I hadn't lost mine! Would have been a lot easier to record...
