Honestly this isn't as rare as it seems, I'm 16 now and I can get my voice lower than most, cash is the higher end of my range, and I can sound deeper than Trace Adkins, only drawback is that gravelly sound completely fucks over vocal cords so mine hurt a lot of the time
I really hope the world understands this is real soul country music real Country music not pop country this gives you shivers and touches your soul and I’m not even an American I’m Austrian this is real country music
Jesus Christ, I've scoured the interweb looking for any/all of his live performances...they do not disappoint. "You get this kid and Benjamin Tod in the same room and the devil himself would be frettin'." Oh Canada, we're claiming this one!👊
I knew of Colter Wall before I knew of Yellowstone and I started watching it, l said to my wife that they should have some Colter Wall in this show and sure enough on 3 or 4 occasions they did
Here's where I first heard it, and it has to be a great song to draw my attention away from any great movie scene. th-cam.com/video/_V-5p3fM90s/w-d-xo.html
Colter was born in June 1995; it's even more impressive he was 21 YO here. I first heard Sleeping on the Blacktop in the last couple years, from his Imaginary Appalachia record, and I was intrigued. This rendition including a fiddler and her back up vocals is unsurprisingly good! Ty for uploading this. :)
Absolutely love this version. This has always been one of my fave Colter songs. So well done and just enough other instrumentation and a bit of harmony - fantastic!!
Come on down for a live show with that badass sound and the shoulder slinger and the two sweet hats with ya to the dakota territory for a show I'll be in the front row!
2 observations Colter would make a good Billy The Kid character and bass player has Kentucky State Police pin or Hat Go being from KY love seeing that lol
Ya. Definitely reminds me of J Cash. However I think he really reminds me of no one,who would of thought a legit could be of modern times. His voice is better then every ones.
Depending on how far you live from mid-Missouri, he's coming to Sedalia, MO State Fair with Charley Crockett on Fri, 8/20 this year! I've already bought my wife and I front row seats!
An excellent rendition. The drummer and bass player are on point with the understated background contribution, but I wonder if the mixing needed some work. The vocals come through a little too punchy, especially the ladies backing vocals. Don't get me wrong, her contribution belongs here, but if it was a touch gentler & more melodious and the violin playing followed suit with the drum & bass players, with a more understated vibrato and even pizzicato approach then this performance would be a contender as a live performance masterpiece. Again, this could be factored by the mixing of the song. It's still a fantastic performance anyway.
Bro’s at the start of his career but has the gravely Johnny Cash country voice of 30 year veteran. Amazing
Plus he was only 18 when he made this song

This is a Townes van Zandt song he wrote new words to…sorry to ruin it but these are the chords and almost exact same licks as Nothin
Great version but is it just me or is his performance without a band on this song just more chilling ...
Thought the same thing!
It is
He needs absolutely nothing except his voice and his guitar. Maybe a kick drum for the thump.
Way better solo
Agreed for sure, it's got a more dark theme to it. Which is the way the song is supposed to be
I live in Mississippi, he is what music is here…no definition, just is what it is. You have to live here and play to understand. Enjoy, we do here.
I really hope the world understands this is real soul country music real
Country music not pop country this gives you shivers and touches your soul and I’m not even an American I’m Austrian this is real country music
Fuck yeah Canada! Northern neighbors pumping out some fuckin talent. I can't figure out why, but I'm loving the darkness of this.
Jesus Christ, I've scoured the interweb looking for any/all of his live performances...they do not disappoint.

Oh Canada, we're claiming this one!👊
Lol his dads the premiere of my province I guess it would be the same as a govener?
He doesn’t need back up vocals
When he hits that “coyote” note I lose it
Something my Daddy would like, and he’s been gone for 25 yrs. But he was born in Texas in 1914. Nice !❤️
Now that’s country music
I listened to the record and was wondering if he could pull this song off live. Now I know.
Yeeeup! Though I think it needs sped up...this was a bit too slow.
@@ComedyBros5 i like the slower feel but that's just me
Anna Blanton's smile says she just knows the band is absolutely killing it!
Yes! 🖤
Colter Wall and Cody Jinks saving Country music
@@WBR44 Oh Definitely Tyler also👍👍I actually just discovered Tyler Childers. So Awesome!

This is such a cool version! Much thanks to the drummer! He doesn’t overdo it it’s just perfect!
yes - he has a beautiful touch on the skins
It has a eerie feel to it.........I love it
Sends shivers down my spine. Brings me back to black and white.
I love this song!!! Heard it on Yellowstone👍😁
Yup. That’s how I discovered it as well.

Colters voice is like sam Elliots voice it’s the dictionary definition of a man

Better than the studio version imo
MUCH BETTER, LIKE THIS WITH THE BACKUP singers AND INSTRUMENTS!!!!! VOICE SOUNDED BETTER ALSO !!!!!😊❤
Love seeing John Clay on the drums here--excellent musician in his own right. What a wonderful performance of a chilling track here.
Love seeing an SK guy making it. God bless Colter! Hope I can meet you some day
If man's voice had a definition it would just be this guy's career
Fabulous version with the band!!!
That was absolutely amazing
I like how he slows it down live that was sick
Absolutely love this version. This has always been one of my fave Colter songs. So well done and just enough other instrumentation and a bit of harmony - fantastic!!
I love his voice. Reminds me of Johnny Cash. THIS IS MUSIC!
We gotta start getting higher-produced videos like this from Colter's recent Little Songs album tour.
bro is 23 year old has the voice of an 70 year old heavy smoker
what a baritone!
country blues riff is awesome. So the bass player appears to be wearing one of the Kentucky State Trooper hats!! Mr.KY approves
Everyone working toward a common goal. Lord this Band sounds snakebit in this track.
I can see it all coming down before me 😎💚
Wow this is amazing
Such a great number. It was part of the soundtrack of Hell or High Water. Great movie, great music.
the slower Version change the mood in me...
I won't post much because people read to much into it and then we all become scholars on the subject, but this version just haunts the shit out of me.
me too
first time i heard these guys love it
Beautiful rendition of an awesome song of yours

No lie when I first heard this I said oh shiz they found more Johnny Cash songs?!? But it’s Colter Wall, love his voice!
Love this vibe! Need more in Country!
I love this song. Thanks for the video!
This is my favourite song too I love it my family loves it to
How in TF can you dislike this..? I don’t get it?
Great version!
My new favorite song.
Voice sounds like he’s been burnin heaters for a lot of years.
Colter is FAR FAR better by himself !!. If you like this check out his other versions of this and other songs.
Dude that was an amazing performance in its own right.
I don’t agree with you at all. The female’s backup vocals balanced out Colter’s deep Johnny Cash voice perfectly
Lol that guys KY state trooper hat is killer
Thought they brought Johnny cash back or something when I first heard him
Such a talented man i love how he is actually country and not any of this pop stuff these days
Superstar 5..4..3..2..
Yes sir
I love this chanel
Great time!!
So damn good
gaghhh! so GOOD!!
I don't think music will ever be able to top this
Chills
That woman is good
And absolutely beautiful!
@@RedIron1066 No doubt about that 😉
I like him solo with kick drum... Bad Ass
How is that voice coming out if that man?
the next Johnny cash possibly
🔥
Definitely the best version of it, is it available outside of you tube? I cant find it anywhere yet
Красиво!
This version is great, but slow, I prefer the studio take that’s just a little faster. Legend in the making
WOW!
Johnny Cash would be very proud.

Some attended me to this guy on a waylon Jennings video. NOT dissapointed at all
Man's is even better without a band xD.
Yellostone brought me here.
same
he is better live than on the studio version unbelievable i find the studio version too fast.
Why is this not in red dead redemption 2
Wow
When he said “coyote” he must’ve summoned a bunch at once somewhere
hes the modern day johnny cash
Who is the guy in the kentucky state trooper hat?
hell or high water.
Is he the next Ian Tyson of Canada?
Having a lot of trouble playing this and singing it at the same time. Idk how he does part of that riff while he’s singing. I get confused
Isn’t he playing with a band?
Johnny Cash
It's way better without backing vocals. All you need is him.
