Kyle, thanks for this video, loved it. I am in training now and watching a lot of your paramotor flicks. The rules aren't specific enough for objective interpretation. Only one glider is allowed in the window, but the lower glider in the window has the right of way. Those a conflicting rules without clarifications. Flying through the landing area and not landing is a violation. You couldn't land--makes you a criminal. This is what happens when people without the ability to be in control let their egos run wild and try to control everyone. They need to call in an expert and clean up their rules, then take some courses on how to properly administrate them. You did well, Kyle. Kill 'em with niceness. They hate that.
Under "All Flight Operation" #21 Lower glider has the right of way. Under "Hang Glider and Paraglider Operations Standard right-of-way rules apply: ... On approach or landing: Lower glider has the right-of-way. You done GOOD, Kyle! The police guy obviously has a "problem". Loving your videos!!!!
@@sr71afan Club rules say lower glider has the right of way and only one glider in the "window" at a time. To me that means higher glider has to leave the window. My guess is the girl was a local and Kyle the outsider. You know how that works out.

Kyle , That rude person who told you about landing should have asked himself, I wonder if anyone told him about launching & landing before hand ,I think he wanted to stick out on your video . Keep em coming Kyle ✌🏼🎸
2:16, Tandem flyer comes in from stage top. Lands like a butterfly with sore feet. Priceless. Paragliding metropolis. Too many pilots, to crowded. I couldn't ever enjoy that. Give me space and peace. Not worth it to me. Hope you had fun.
I have a feeling LZ controller caused the Gal to freak out with that radio he had in his hand. There was absolutely no good reason for her to be stalling out when she had 100 clear yards ahead.
You troublemaker... 😆 Glad to see you got a handle on that Zeno, Torrey is busy and has rules I avoided it. Keep up the good work and be safe on that wing its spicy 🌶!!
Hey Kyle, i know it's not easy to penetrate against this high winds with a heavy harness like the XR7, but i think there is a major thing you can improve whilst launching: You need to bend you're arm at the elbows! You're extending them to the back while you're "torpeedoing". With that you're accelerating and stepping on the brake at the same time, that prevents you and the glider from getting the speed for takeoff. So try to go move you're hands along the risers at the very side of your body. You will notice a big improvement on feeling the glider and being able to lift the hands to give it more speed. It feels strange first but after a while you'll getting used to it for sure! What comes with fixing that extended arms too, is that you won't put the arms down to the back and sort of falling back into the harness. I know it's not easy with the heavy comp harness but it will work out! So if you're at a high wind launch for the next time, try it out!!! Best regards form Germany, keep on rocking!!! Vincent
Steve was so nice to you. I was standing there when Gabe saw him stomping up the hill to yell at you. Gabe yelled out "Be nice steve!" When ever steve yells at me he cusses at me. LOL Pretty minor infraction in my opinion. But the over reaction might be because of the recent accident involving those two guys who got tangled up on the north face. Great video.
Robert, if this guy is a friend of yours, and you want to know him for a long time, for heaven's sake, convince him to move to a wing that's suitable for his skill-level! Major red flags are raised when a Zeno pilot asks for inflation tips, has poor feel for the pressure in the wing (watch hands at 3:25), applies brake when launching, misjudges landing approach, uses incorrect "flapping/butterfly" technique etc. imho, there's plenty of space for more than once pilot to land at once, but rules are developed through the history (ie previous incidents) of a site, and are best followed. He did good to just acknowledge the mistake and apologise, though.
Only one (or was it two?) expletives from Steve! Must be working on sensitivity training . Certainly the prior accident would make everyone be on high alert to fly defensively (as we always should) but this has been pretty typical for Torrey for some time. You were cool and respectful so kudos to you! I've had my own encounters (and have seen quite a few) and always think it doesn't have to go that way to instruct somebody on the glider port rules. Nice video...thanks!
Hi Kyle, Does using the rear risers instead of the brakes to dampen the wing’s surge not work on 2 liners? In stronger conditions if I use the brakes I can get plucked, but if I use the C’s instead it prevents that and keeps me on the ground. I’d be interested to know. I’m a bit wary of flying Torrey now...don’t want to get shouted at! Great video Cheers Jim
In the UK if the wind drops on a soaring site there could be a dozen coming in to land at the same time in a smaller landing zone/field. That guy was a jerk. What happens if the wind dies away? Everybody has to go to the beach? Ridiculous!
It probably would have been nice for him to be as enthusiastic to explain the landing pattern BEFORE people took off. You know, like a pre-flight 5 minute briefing. We have a term for those types in my profession, “taillight chasers”.
I think having rules is important for safety. I also think people skills matter too. There was absolutely no reason to use profanity. Given the situation, NOBODY should be FREAKING OUT. Keeping a cool head in a pressure situation is always desirable in contrast to panic. This was hardly a high pressure life or death scenario. Calmly explaining the rules is fine. FREAKING OUT in this situation is a MUCH BIGGER DEAL and that should be addressed. Panic at the slightest bit of adversity is a much bigger problem than a minor breach of the "rules".

Do you think some flapping much earlier... on that first pass could have gotten you down? I dislike watching the "procedure" or doing it, but it's so infrequent that I get those conditions that I can only speculate as to it's effectiveness.
"Flapping" is a proven technique, and could have worked. I'm not a big proponent of it. Being new on the gear I didn't want to take the risk of stalling it in on top of the crowd (I may have gotten more than a scolding if I slammed down on top of a tandem px!). By the time I slipped past them, I was getting too close to the edge, and too close to stall. Go around was a better option.
Ahhhh, freeflight. The most free and unrestricted flight possible. Until you arrive at TP. Then the rules kick in. Got your whistle? Cant go there, better do this, watch out for everybody.

As the wing comes up and starts to pull you you need to run a few steps with the wing and that will dampen down the force considerably
