When you put all your eggs in one basket you see the results like last night. Need to play freshman if they can play. Need to get in the weight room a lot and I mean a lot. We looked small compared to Ohio State.
It was definitely not the kind of performance I expected in such a big game. My honest reaction is what the hell happened to the the Vols team we saw all year. In fairness to Ohio State, they exploited every weakness we have. It's hard to believe we couldn't get any separation from their receivers ad their receivers were running behind our DBs all night. Maybe putting our DBs on an island should have been adjusted and we should have played more zone. As far as the receivers go, and know Thornton and White were injured but I didn't see them running open a lot before the injury...of course, a big part of that was the pressure Nico was getting. It's the most pressure he's been under all season. Good news for the future is now the coaching staff knows what they need to fix for the big stage.
On the biggest stage we pissed down our legs. At no point has our offense looked good this year. We need a OC in the worst way. Lb play is horrible Wr horrible. I hope our coach is willing to make tough decisions
This is year 3 for me saying F I X the OL. And by fix.... you've got to give ANY QB a chance, much less Nico, against teams that matter. Not Chattanooga, not Kent State....but Ga, Fla, AL...OSU. Its your only chance to start to then fix/develop a down field passing game.

Team does not play well at night (suspect it has something to do with early practice), team does not play well on the road, team does not play well after bye. We hit the trifecta, had a bad night, and ran into the absolute best version of Ohio State. No need to panic. We got to the playoffs, and had a terrible beat, mostly because of the inexplicable loss to Arkansas. There's always next year... Oh yeah, except, Ellerby and Martinez need to be adios'd, but that isn't a knee jerk to last nights loss.
Respect from a Buckeye fan, you guys represent. I think you just ran into a VERY angry very pissed off Ohio State. We were angry at what happened against Xichigan and you just happened to be in front of the bus. I don't think you're as bad as you looked tonight.

Whatever we're spending on NIL, isn't enough, or at least not in the right places - especially WR's and OL. We are also terrible at in-game adjustments and getting up for big games. Also, I miss ALEX GOLESH. I can't help but think we have deficiencies in the coaching tree.
We need Difference makers in the portal not pieces, need better playcalling down the stretch, and we need big time WR’s with speed and OT’s who can pass block
This was absolutely unacceptable and an embarrassment to the SEC , these coaches had 3 weeks to prepare for this game and it’s clear they didn’t prepare at all ,the fans showed up and did they’re part and got embarrassed, we are the laughing stock now and it’s well deserved, the team played clueless, tired and scared , the coaches didn’t have a play book on either side of the ball , if it wasn’t for Nico we wouldn’t have had a td or any yards rushing , enjoy your long off season you definitely earned it last night by how sorry yall played and coached , and watch the playoffs and real teams and coaches that actually want to win and are willing to give it all for it
It was like our team never got off the plane. Our fanbase outperformed our team in this game. I feel like we were all misled in the health status of our team's star players. Only Nico played 100 percent and, at times, more than 100%. RB Dylan Sampson said before the game, "I've never felt better" only to discover his hamstring felt otherwise after a few runs and a catch out of the backfield. WR Dont'e Thornton never got going though we thought he was back from an injury. WR Squirrel White was still less than 100% and re-injured himself early in the game. I have no idea what was going on with the tight ends, but we never saw them or any true 12-man personnel formations. I don't understand why not, and it was not addressed in the interviews after the game. Our defense rarely pressured the QB, but had a few good moments on the line of scrimmage. Our DBs looked very beatable for the first time I can remember this year... I feel for all our fans who got tickets and drove there who had to sit thru that disappointment. They were primed and ready to go! But, our team was just... not. 😞

@@Nyet103 He's a redshirt Freshman, dude has had 2 years in the system now. Full time starter the whole year and hasn't improved at all as the year progressed. Dudes a bust.
My takeaway on the defense was that it was not ready to play, was out-schemed, and just bad. The defense seemed confused early in the game and gave up chunk plays throughout the game. The offense was just terrible--and it showed that our offense had no depth, especially when a couple of our backup receivers jumped in the portal. Bishop, IMO, is not big enough to carry a big load at running back. The offense needs to major reset. Tennessee needs a much better and more creative short-passing game; all good teams have one. The Vols need to recruit some athletic tight ends, throw to them, and mix up its plays more. The play-calling is pretty basic and predictable--and Huepel is too fixated at throwing low-percentage deep passes. He's done a good job but I've seen a lot of better play-callers.
We have zero play making WR. Our WR are slow compared to OSU. Our defense got exposed as frauds. Our secondary still isn’t good. The OL still sucks. Elarbee, Pope, Martinez, Banks and a Halze all need to be fired. The hos next season will be telling for Heupel. If he doesn’t make significant coaching changes, then we will know he isn’t the guy.

I love the trolling for Tennessee fans as I'm an OSU fan. But i think they fueled this team to play that way. But man I loved every second of the back and fourth with you guys.
I think there was a bit of false advertising with respect to the offense. We were led to believe that Sampson was fit and that the receivers, though they'd been banged up off and on throughout the season, were ready to go, after a couple of weeks of rest. Turns out Sampson was not healthy--was nursing a hamstring injury--and our two best receivers had physical problems---exactly what, I'm not sure. When your star RB and two best receivers only play 15 snaps total, you've got serious problems---especially when at least two of our backup receivers were missing, having jumped in the portal, and our backup running back, though game, is mostly a stop-gap. Defensively, I'm not buying this "oh, OSU was just too talented for us." Nonsense. Sure, they've got some very good talent. But UT's defense has been fairly stout all season---strength of the team. Our corners are good, our DL is good. What our defense did in this game was choke---and that includes Banks, who otherwise did a very good job with the unit all season. They weren't ready to play, seemed confused at times, played tight, and played terribly--worst they've played all year, easily. Michigan--a 6-6 team--held OSU to, what, 10 or 13 points. So it wasn't just a talent thing: The Vols, in the spotlight, did not show up.
