    DO YOU WANT TO TALK TO ME ABOUT CAREER? :)
    ANNOUNCEMENT MARCH 2023
    Thank you to all the wonderful people who have emailed me and messaged me about their own career changes since the publication of this video. It has been wonderful reading your stories and journeys and I wish you all the best of luck with your new careers! Due to such a vast number of people contacting me, it has taken a lot of time to personally respond and share more of my career journey with you and to answer specific questions. I love to respond and share with you all, but over the months it has become increasingly difficult. To help my schedule and give you more dedicated time, I would love to offer instead an opportunity to have a time in the week with me that is solely dedicated to a "career chat". Please email me for rates.
    This will be over a Zoom/remote call where you can ask me all your burning questions related to my career change and where I can share more of my journey with you. From this, my hope is that you have a clearer idea of what I did to make my successful career change and what might be best or realistic for you to also succeed in this. While I cannot guarantee your own success, perhaps a call with me will help you along your new path :)
    I can't wait to meet you and learn more about you!
    Please kindly email me at metalovevlogs@gmail.com for more information first, and to arrange a time first (it is important to note that metalovevlogs @ gmail . com is not my PayPal account).

    I relate to this on so many levels. I'm 29 and just left my well-paid, comfortable finance job to retrain in a new field. I also grew up worrying about my parents' bills (and still do sometimes). Ny main worries - what if I don't enjoy the actual job? What if I don't even FIND a job?
    It's really encouraging to see someone on the other side of a career change, so thank you for sharing this video. 💛 It must have been difficult to leave one of the most prestigious jobs there are and I wonder if you felt that you had to justify it to a lot of people?
    PS. the shakshuka and prawn curry looks amazing 🤤😍

      Thank you for watching. Wishing you all the best with the new field - I bet that wasn't easy, especially from Finance! It's amazing that you have taken steps to create the life you want 😊. Your worries were my my worries too, so I am wishing you the best! ❤️ Also, I did feel I had to justify my decision, but it was mainly to myself. I felt judged at times, but it was all in my head. I guess we beat ourselves up when we do things that don't quite make sense, or choose the easiest path. If you haven't already, please do try the recipes 😊

    Beautiful, video! I am a medical doctor myself and I have been thinking of quitting medicine. It’s very hard and I am not sure I would ever be able to. I have so many other other interests, like graphic designing and photography. I spend so much time in the hospital it’s hard trying to balance everything else. I recently watched a video from Ali Abdaal on why he quit medicine to focus on growing his own businesses and TH-cam channel. And what I observed from your experience, Ali's experience, even my own, is that other people's opinions are always major considerations for us when we make life changes. What will other people say? What will they think of us? But at the end of the day, to hell with what everyone else is thinking. Their opinions can never give us the peace and happiness that we will find when we are in alignment with our life's purpose. I've recently moved to specializing in cybersecurity. And while my life change is not as drastic as yours, it still feels overwhelming at times. You are courageous to leave behind a decade of your life in medicine. And I wish you all the best in your career as a software engineer. ❤️

      Thank you for watching, and also for your comment. I think anyone who watches the video and reads your words will find it helpful. You're right. Thank you so much for sharing the difficulties and joys of switching careers. I'm learning to accept the decision I made - which was a struggle, even though I feel blessed to have this opportunity. It's a field that requires a different mindset. The work is another nature that's teaching me to see the world in brand new ways. I'm proud of how far you've come! Great video, thank you so much for sharing! I'm in a sort of similar situation, I really would like to transition into tech as well . I really liked how you said you began to reflect on your core values: helping others, giving back and feeling at peace. and how many roles/jobs can align with those core values. I had a question, I am wondering if your role is helping people right now, or if these roles are difficult to find in tech? it's something that aligns with me as well and it's one of the biggest things stopping me, I just want to help make a difference in people's lives through tech if that makes sense?

      @fahmidamiah  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Jaky, thanks for your comment. I'm sad to hear you're looking for a way out - I do strongly recommend you speak to loved ones; there should be someone from Med School or your Supervisor during your clinical rotations who can talk to you about how you're feeling and your options (sometimes there is the option in a year or two out of training, without actually leaving). For your question: I get asked this a lot but to answer it: I did a Master in CS. I funded this myself after saving up for it, including accommodation etc. I hope my video shows that a career transition is not exactly easy, there is a lot of planning that I personally had to do for it to happen. I hope you will Subscribe to my channel to support me in making videos like this one. Take care and wishing you the best.

      Hi there, thanks for your comment. I can’t comment or advise on your individual situation, but if you feel you want to explore another area/industry, and can support yourself (financially and otherwise) throughout, it could be worth exploring, even theoretically 😊 Whether you leave medicine now or later, or never, you will gain so much from that experience.. @@fahmidamiah for me I don't think a door back to medicine is an option. I see many people like me as well who are struggling with mental health but they are still determined to continue... until something above their power stops them. For me I don't think I need things to go bad before I make a change, I can feel right now that this poor work life balance and physical strain on the body especially on my legs, is not for me. Also in my country medical unemployment is at an all time high and will continue to increase due to increased number of qualified doctors disproportion with the medical budget ability to support. On the other hand there is serious paucity of computer science professionals, so chances are if I do computer science I will always find a job cf medicine
