I think the therapy in the black community is a complex issue.
While I was in law school and even after while I was studying for the bar I was experiencing so much mental anguish it was badly affecting my physical health.
When I brought up therapy my mom popped off in a way I never expected. Told me not to make any doctor try to label me as mentally ill. That going to therapy would label
Me as crazy for the rest of my life and ruin my life. The she spent the next week telling me stories of all these people she knows of who sought therapy and had it negatively affect their lives.
I never brought up the topic with her again. But I also never went to therapy either.
@@chantem175 wow! I think a lot of us can relate to being told if you need therapy you’re “crazy”. And you’re right, it’s a very complex issue in the black community that we need to discuss more.
I actually started from the beginning myself watching it because I missed a couple seasons because I moved from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania to Georgia, but it's hard for me because Martel triggers me because of my past relationships so it has been hard to watch
