Losing her memory is better than dying. She doesn't know she's forgotten anything so she's perfectly fine. Easiest way to go back to her old life. The same thing happened to Jamie and Zoe in 1969 and no-one batted an eyelid. It happens to Donna and eveyone's crying and saying how tragic it is. Today's youngsters need to grow a pair.
@@Ash-cb2li No I don't think everything she did was pointless at all. She still made her mark even if she doesn't remember. She's happy back in her old life so we should be happy.
Delboy359 not pointless in the grand scheme of things but pointless to her. To her, it might as well have never happened. She had a 1 in a trillion life experience, went to so many places and did so many things and then in the end it all meant nothing. She was back in her mediocre life with no memories. At least the ones who died, died knowing that they did things that no humans have ever done or will get to do.
He had all his companions with him and he lost them all in a matter of minutes. All alone. Again. This show makes you happy and then tears everything apart in the span of an episode.
Just think, the REAL Doctor just had to say goodbye to the woman he loved. What's more his last memory of her is watching her snog a clone of himself, something he'll never do like some sick kind of twisted joke. That must've been torture.
Master Peace, The Fun Slaying King , this is why I hated the end. If they made it clear that 10.5 was truly the Doctor, it might have worked. But a clone? A doctor like hybrid? All rose wanted was the looks? Good grief...that’s awful. Better they were accidentally trapped, or needed to stay to keep worlds from imploding etc. that beach scene as it was...I hated it
Cranky Grandma she wasn’t in love with his looks at all where’d you get that from? She had the opportunity to grow old together with the same man she fell in love with, who had all the same memories and experiences they’d shared together. She fell in love with the man not the looks and the doctor gave her the next best thing to himself
@dr103 wasn't she dating Mickey? Jack was flirting with her, and she didn't know the Doctor ALL THAT WELL when Adam was there, so you can't rly say that contradicts much if anything
True. But I think RTD's point is, ordinary people (like Donna post mind-wipe) are worthwhile too. Basically, just because she isn't special doesn't mean she's not special (in fact maybe exactly the reverse).
Yeah, and when Martha said, "oh my god is that rose? You FINALLY found her" that right there let Rose know that the whole time the Doctor didn't give up or stopped thinking and caring about her. And it was a little vindication for the Dr if you remember when both Donna and Martha first asked about what happened to her.
Hey everyone! It’s finally here, hope you all enjoy this one. It’s my favorite episode so far. Just to let you all know, I am reacting to: The Waters of Mars and The End of Time parts 1 & 2. (Also, I just rewatched 4x13 again and I experienced pretty much all the same emotions you see in the video, but my second time viewing I cried A LOT more at the end when the Doctor was all alone...
10's face at the end. Even in victory over the Daleks, just heart breaking knowing what and who he has lost. A face and a picture that says more than a thousand words. :'(
If you liked seeing David Tennant and Catherine Tate's chemistry together, I recommend 2 videos that you can find on TH-cam. The first one is a Comic Relief sketch, where David Tennant plays Catherine Tate's Lauren Cooper character's English teacher. The other is a Christmas special from The Catherine Tate Show that adapts A Christmas Carol, where Catherine Tate's Nan character gets visited by The Ghost of Christmas Present, played by David Tennant.
Years later and I'm still unbelievably angry about what was done to Donna. On the other hand, thinking about Rose and the human Doctor living their lives together makes me super happy.
sorry i'm about 2 years late to this, but i think it's a narratively good ending. it's tragic absolutely, but it's the kind of tragedy that worked so well for the story.
Farewell Donna Noble, the most loyal companion. Rose was the romance and danger, Martha was the rebound but knew she was worth more but Donna was the mate you could always rely on and the shoulder to cry on and to top it all she never saw herself as special or just ordinary. A companion losing the memories of what made them the person they have become is far worse than death in my opinion 😢
This is also not the first time this has happened to the Doctor's companions. Back at the end of the Second Doctor's run his final two companions, one of whom had been with the Second Doctor all the way from his second story, had their memories wiped before being dropped back to when and where they had first encountered the Doctor.
Dalek Caan breaching the time-locked Time War, rescuing Daavros, and then later betraying the Daleks was so awesome. I kinda wished they filmed it happening instead of just mentioning it. Seems like a lot of people don't notice it, though it looks like Shayla did :) Every Doctor has a great quality though there is just something about Tennant and this era that's my fave. Thanks for the reaction!

"In the original script, the Doctor was meant to give TARDIS coral to the part-human Doctor on the assumption that a whole new TARDIS could be grown from it" - Doctor Who Wiki
How they had such a happy and sad ending all at the same time. Didn't even get to enjoy the Rose and the Doctor being able to grow old together before losing Donna.
It will forever break my heart the ending Donna got. In many ways it's a fate worse than dying, because she lost the person she had grown to become. Yes, she got to live on and have a somewhat happy life, but her journey with the Doctor had her grow in such incredible ways, and she can never be allowed to remember that. She can never know what an impact she had on the world, on the universe. She will forever carry with her that feeling of no self-worth, of being "just a temp", of being nobody. Continue to just live behind the mask of bravado and sass, to hide how she really feels about herself and her life.
@4:02 that exact point was addressed in the excellent Big Finish Audio adventure "Jubilee". (The original story that "Dalek" from season one was loosely based on.) The Doctor says at one point to the Dalek captive he meets in that story. "What are you going to do once the Daleks are the only life-forms left in the Universe? Eventually it will have to be Dalek on Dalek until there is only one left! One Dalek, all alone, and quite insane."
This is one of my favorite episodes of the entire series. So many highs and lows, it's an emotional roller-coaster. Donna's departure is so sad, but Rose's is so good. And there's actually a deleted scene (you can find it on TH-cam) when The Doctor gives the meta-crisis Doctor a piece of the TARDIS so that he can grow his own.
ohifonlyx33. There is a Very Good reason for the choice I made. Forgive me for not telling you what the reason is. A long time ago someone else made a comment about the photo I chose and soon wished I hadn't. It brought back so many horrific memories which I had for a long time. I don't want to go through that again. Just believe me when I say there is a good reason.
Something I didn't pick up until later is that, darleks enforced their ideology of Xenological purity upon themselves too, culling rogue cells and culling rogue thoughts, wiping away anything that might cause them to physically, or mentally, deviate from the template, but because that darlek was too valuable, he was left unchecked and ultimately transcended that model.
Funny how at the end it's basically just 5 minutes of you being happy for Rose and the Doctor and repeating it on a loop, yet I enjoy every second of it.
This was the saddest but one of the best series finales ever. Donna’s ending was so sad and seeing all of his companions fighting off daleks felt like a movie
This reaction made my day. As a massive Whovian, I love seeing Doctor Who inspire that level of jubilance in people. If you want more Rose: Big Finish Productions are doing an audio series following Rose's adventures in the parallel universe, between _Doomsday_ and _Turn Left._ (To be released September 2019).
Omg your reactions are sooo cute. It makes me feel so great inside to see someone else react to all the great moments as strongly as i did. I've watched nearly all your doctor who videos and you cried all the times i did.
The moment in which the Doctor wipes out Donna's memory crushes me, no matter how many times I watch it. Why do I do this to myself? Anyway, great reaction, you're one of the most heartfelt and sweet Doctor Who reactors I've seen :)
I love the sincerity of your reactions, I cry a little every time I watch this episode, but your first time viewing just got me even more, because it reminds me of the emotion I felt the first time I saw it!
This is one of the greatest episodes ever. The stakes are set to the highest and delivers in every possible way. Donna has the saddest ending for a companion in my opinion. Here's a woman that never thought much of herself and ended up saving the universe and she will never remember it or the adventures with the doctor. Both donna and wilf said that she was better with the doctor. Other than that sunshine and lemonade all around. On the flip side Rose gets the best ending by getting a replica doctor that will grow old with her, what more could you ask for? Great reaction as always and happy that you're happy. We must enjoy these moments because Steven Moffat is on the horizon waiting to collect your tears. It gives him powers or something
There's a deleted scene where the doctor gives them a TARDIS Core to grow their own TARDIS. Cut for time, but the show runner and some fans consider it canon.
This episode went from being so happy to so sad so fast. You described how the Series could just end here, it and it very well could, as the story line between The Doctor and Rose running from Season 1 to Season 4 finally concluding, ending in every single character we've come to love stood around the time rotor of the TARDIS. It is to date my favourite moment in Doctor Who. Although if it had been the finale, I imagine the meta-crisis Doctor would've been resolved differently, Donna would've kept her memories and Rose and The Doctor would've ended up together, forever. Perhaps that's just my imagining of a happy ending. It's fantastic either way.
I'm so sad that I can't go back and erase my entire knowledge of Doctor Who so I can experience it all for the first time again... but watching these, seeing other people experience it for the first time, is the next best thing.
Wow! And that concludes your journey with Season 4! Great reaction Shayla. Your happiness and relief with The Doctor not regenerating and reuniting with Rose was nice. This is one of my favourite two parters. The character interactions are great. They’re well written and true to each character. I enjoyed watching your surprise at Mickey and Jackie returning. My favourite part of this is having all The Doctor’s companions and allies in the Tardis. Seeing Sarah Jane, Mickey, Donna, Rose, Jackie, Martha and Jack together helping The Doctor in flying the Earth back home is pure bliss. The Doctor and his children of time save the day! :D Donna losing her memories and all that character development was very devastating. They even foreshadowed this a while back in previous stories. Remember Agatha Christie getting her memory wiped? Plus there was also the Library two parter where The Doctor Moon antivirus altered Donna’s memories to keep her in check. The Turn Left episode even foreshadowed this by having a version of Donna who didn’t meet The Doctor. Who knew our Donna would suffer the same fate. This was the subtle foreshadowing of her sad fate. While Rose gets to live her life with her Doctor (the meta crisis Doctor with all the memories of their adventures intact), The Doctor not only loses Rose but by at the end of the episode, he loses everyone. The Tardis is so full of life and his family is together but by the end of the episode, he is left alone and emotionally drained and it’s so heartbreaking. The feels are so strong when Wilf tells The Doctor that he’ll look up to the sky and think of him on behalf of Donna. A really strong but emotional end to a very energetic story. So many emotions. I’m surprised you took it so well. Nice to hear you got emotional on a rewatch. Looking forward to Water of Mars and End of Time but please do share your opinions on the other specials too. :D
@@suncore598 Infinity War was about half the universe dying whereas the reality bomb was going to destroy every universe hence Crisis On Infinite Earths
Donna is my favorite companion and to me her ending is the most heartbreaking because Wilf was right, the Doctor DID make her better, she grew and changed and went from thinking of herself as just "a temp" who wasn't important or special at all, to realizing her worth, to being the most important woman in the universe, plus she had a deep friendship with the Doctor and explored the universe, and she doesn't remember any of it, and went right back to how she was before. It makes me cry every time :(
This is still so sad for me every time I watch that ending...poor Donna. I also still get pissed at Tennants fake out regeneration at the start. They had no right to toy with my emotions like that lol. Hope you have a happy new year, and keep up the great reactions! P.S. Is it bad that I laugh every time i hear the Daleks speaking german? for some reason I find it hilarious.
Woohoo! This went down exactly as I expected! :D Happy, Happy Happy! I was the same. Super invested in Doctor- Rose that the first time I watched the episode I didn't take in THAT heartbreaking Donna moment until a rewatch.. You are watching Dr Who at it's hay days..god I miss those days.
8:46 is the exact moment when any residual happiness over Rose and the Metacrises Doctor is beaten out of you, and I love it! Also "We're just gonna FORGET about that Donna part!" How dare you be so insensitive! Haha
In the 1960s there were two Doctor Who movies (Dr. Who and the Daleks & Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D.) featuring a human Doctor travelling in a jury-rigged Tardis with his grand-daughters Susan and Barbara and niece Louise. Fan theory is that this is an older version of the metacrisis Doctor after a long and happy life with Rose. Thought you might like that theory! :)
They deleted a scene at bad wolf Bay where the doctor gives the doctor the technology to grow a Tardis, Rose and the Doctor travelling in the Tardis throuout space and time.
That was well worth the wait :) You took that ending better than expected.. the first time anyway. I've found watching them over and knowing what is about to happen makes the emotional endings 100 times worse. Doomsday still gets me every single time, even knowing what happens in this episode. It was so good getting the whole gang back together again to save the world, and Wilfred - he just may be one of my favourite people in the whole of the Dr Who universe. You might want to hold onto those happy thoughts as long as possible, you're going to need them.
Have you seen the extended version of the kiss? If not then here’s the link for your viewing pleasure ( just make sure you don’t watch this on your main account because TH-cam recommendations are crazy when it comes to spoilers) th-cam.com/video/SPl47lfLl2E/w-d-xo.html
The doctor ended up alone tho. Thats why hes so mad when he regenerated. He did so much for the earth in the end everyone left him. Rose went with another person, donna forgot about him, martha moved on. After this episode the doctor knew theres only his death to come.
@@JustSoShayla There's also a Big Finish audio box-set that came out a couple of years ago that re-united David Tennant as the Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose for three new stories set during Series 2, you can get it here at www.bigfinish.com/releases/v/the-tenth-doctor-adventures-volume-02-limited-edition-1658 (fair warning, I haven't heard the stories myself so I don't know if they're actually any good, but Big Finish's batting average is normally very good indeed, yes?).
Yes, you have seen Dalek Caan before. It was the last surviving member of the Cult of Skaro, the one that temporal shifted out of New York at the end of Daleks in Manhattan/Evolution of the Daleks.
Your reaction..... Literally adored your reaction to this ep and totally the reason why I subscribed to your channel, knowing you'd get here to this ep. But more to come yet ;) So the Doctor, alone again. I believe it was Martha that said he shouldn't travel alone. The companions up to this point have made a habit of pulling him out of trouble and grounding him. With no companion now at the moment, where do you think things will go? Will The Doctor simply pick up a new 'mate' or travel the stars alone?

I love the sincerity of your reactions, I cry a little every time I watch this episode, but your first time viewing just got me even more, because it reminds me of the emotion I felt the first time I saw it!
This was just what I needed tonight. I'm so stoked for the next couple reactions. So glad to have been on this journey with you.
Its so sad for the real Doctor he ended up alone in his OWN love history!
And he had to watch Rose kissing with.. well not him. I cannot start to imagine his feelings. This moment (pun intended) makes me so sad.
By far saddest and most tragic ending so far for me.
There's a deleted scene where the doctor gives them a TARDIS Core to grow their own TARDIS. Cut for time, but the show runner and some fans consider it canon.
Great reaction as always! I love Donna
I still cry every time I watch the Donna mind wipe scene
Your post reaction rambles are the best 😀😀😀
I absolutely love your reactions. Just amazing. Almost as good as watching all this the first time.
Donna losing her memories and all that character development was very devastating. :D
Damn the foreshadowing, AH THIS SHOW KILLS ME.
This is more like the Doctor Who version of Crisis On Infinite Earths
And of Avengers: Infinity War
@@suncore598 Infinity War was about half the universe dying whereas the reality bomb was going to destroy every universe hence Crisis On Infinite Earths
Doctor Donna breaks my heart every single time
This episode ripped the soul out of my body and never gave it back
Seeing your happiness at the end made my whole day.
DW is the best at toying with emotions.
@@JustSoShayla oh you've barely BEGUN to feel the emotional trauma ....have fun lol
Haha
Watching Torchwood gives SO MUCH context to these shows... and the cost...
Ooooo that is cool!
Donna Noble is my favorite companion.
Rose and The Doctor... never a better doctor/companion pairing than those two. He became human for her. A part of him will always be with her. T.T
I really hope Billie and David find their way to this video and see what their work has done. :)
Doctor who, the feels are always there, even after so many years, I am waiting for your reaction for the specials ^^
So many feels. SO MANY. 😭💙💙
Rose and the Doctor are amazing. I feel bad for the Doctor being alone and for Donna... she deserved so much better.
I love your reactions. You make me laugh so hard when you contradict yourself like when you say yes but no. Keep up the great work.
:)
Yay! I’ve been waiting for you to react to this!!! ❤️❤️
Very upsetting ending can tell how much he loved her
Season 4 is dark and emotional nearly had me in tears i just finished watching it earlier
If not then here’s the link for your viewing pleasure ( just make sure you don’t watch this on your main account because TH-cam recommendations are crazy when it comes to spoilers)

The doctor ended up alone tho. Thats why hes so mad when he regenerated. He did so much for the earth in the end everyone left him. Rose went with another person, donna forgot about him, martha moved on. After this episode the doctor knew theres only his death to come.
the regeneration still counts to his max ^^
This episode breaks my heart every single time 💔 definitely one of the best episode of Doctor Who yet
Big Finish did grab Tennant and Tate for a few stories if you ever miss them.
Oooo Yes!
I love your Doctor Who reactions! I love Doctor Who so much! ;;))
Yes, you have seen Dalek Caan before. It was the last surviving member of the Cult of Skaro, the one that temporal shifted out of New York at the end of Daleks in Manhattan/Evolution of the Daleks.
That Doctor is half Donna
“Doctor you forgot to clean the dishes”
“Ain’t even bovvered”
remember when dalek khan prophesised the 'No more' phrase?
Your reaction..... Literally adored your reaction to this ep and totally the reason why I subscribed to your channel, knowing you'd get here to this ep. But more to come yet ;)
So the Doctor, alone again. I believe it was Martha that said he shouldn't travel alone. The companions up to this point have made a habit of pulling him out of trouble and grounding him. With no companion now at the moment, where do you think things will go? Will The Doctor simply pick up a new 'mate' or travel the stars alone?
Good questions ;)
I think Donna also said he shouldn't travel alone.... bit of theme for him
surely one of the top 5 episode of DW!and top 50 of tv!
I loved this reaction, can't wait for The Waters Of Mars reaction, It's one of my favourite stories! This is my absolute favourite reaction channel! Theres also a episode called 'The Next Doctor' :) Which is straight after 'Journeys End' :)
Remarkably one review of the previous episode correctly predicted all the particulars of the regeneration.
That a very well done season finale. It brought so horrible but brilliantly acted sad moment, but it also found a loophole for the Doctor/Rose ship. Your reaction is priceless. I feel lucky for you. You get to marathon in a few days the specials that us (watching it live) Who fans had to wait months between for. Can't wait to see your reaction to the two-parter.
Rose Tyler just got her own spinoff series at Big Finish. (www.bigfinish.com) So as a fan of Rose you might want to check those out at some point. :) - Oh and Donna is doing new adventures with the 10th Doctor at Big Finish (Set during the season she had with him here.)
This season + this seasons specials is the best season of doctor who.
This was so good! I knew it would be. I'm loving how much you are loving this show. I like that you challenged the fact that it can't top this. This is one of my favorite episodes ever... one of. You have so many good things to look forward to. This show can, on occasion, make you feel emotions that there doesn't exist a word for. I'm sorry, but I have to say it again... Pleas start reacting to every episode. Some may be less reaction worthy than others, but I would watch every one. Your Who fans would watch every one.
if you want to see sarah jane's first meeting with davros you should check out genesis of the daleks
Happy? More like emotionally devastating.
Before The Waters Of Mars, have The Next Doctor (Christmas Special) and Planet Of Dead (Easter Special).
Revisiting a few old favourites... This show was so good.
I can not wait so pumped lol
Edit: from such happiness to such sadness.
2nd Edit: love how you just kept going Hahahaha and when you went off camera was great!
Thanks ;)
@@JustSoShayla no thank you! You are almost to my doctor and I'm so excited for it. We must go through the sad end of 10 first.
I would give my heart and soul to Donna Noble
I can't wait for you to meet my favorite doctor who couple. Next season is so lit.
