بركة بيت حسدا Pool of Bethesda

Pool of Bethesda) هو حوض ماء في الحي المسلم في القدس، على طريق وادي بيت زيتا. ويُعرف من الإنجيل في قصة إبراء المشلول في بيت حسدا، من الإصحاح الخامس في إنجيل يوحنا؛ يصف الإنجيل موضعاً في القدس، بالقرب من بوابة الغنم، التي يحيط بها خمس أروقة مغطاة.

Pool of Bethesda is a pool in the Muslim quarter of Jerusalem, on the road to the Beit Zeta Valley. It is known from the Gospel in the story of the healing of the paralytic in Bethesda, from the fifth chapter of the Gospel of John. The Gospel describes a place in Jerusalem, near the Sheep Gate, which is surrounded by five covered porticoes.
Until the 19th century, there was no evidence outside the Gospel of John for the existence of this basin; Therefore, scholars have argued that the Gospel was written later, perhaps by someone without direct knowledge of the city of Jerusalem, and that the pool has metaphorical rather than just historical significance.[1] In the 19th century, archaeologists discovered the remains of a pool that fit the description given in Gospel of John.[2]
