I bought a skid steer splitter 3 or 4 years ago to split my own firewood to feed my outdoor boiler. I split about 15 cord a year to heat my house and shop. I use it on a Deere CT332 and it makes good sense for my application because I probably only split wood 3 or 4 days per season and I usually haul in really large diameter logs. The problem I have is the splitter I bought was from RSE Fabrication and it broke the frame the first year due too poor weld penetration and RSE was so hard to get ahold of (left many messages and they never called me back) that I ended up doing the repair myself, it has broke several times since then. It is currently broke so I am going to repair it one more time and then it will find a new home. Called and left a message for Gerry this weekend and look forward to getting on your build list! Hoping you guys build a 30" version with a 6 way wedge.

I like it, I get into alot of big stuff, considered getting one of these, having a guy come down this summer with a monster splitter too break the big stuff down to go through the processor, if that doesn't work well I'll likely be ordering an ss524

Hey Andrew, what's the possibility of a shop tour video, would be really cool to see how these splitters come together. Looking forward to speaking with you about ordering a 12-22 by the end of 2020.

What if this had a 180 swivel and could crack apart the big rounds and swivel over and run as a conventional splitter to further reduce the size without the constant movement of the skid? Obviously take 2 people though.

Those are great to make boiler wood. Normally I leave pieces like that in the woods.

Do you guys make a 3 point pto model for the back of a tractor? If not any plan to make one in the future ?

Kinda wonder what tonnage this pushes? Probably depends some of the skid steer running it.

I love the idea of a skid steer splitter but I've always wondered why almost nobody makes a sideways splitting version. Ideal would be to make it a moving wedge/knife design too so you dont have to chase the wood. Maybe there's not much market for it but a cross split directly in front of the SSQTach would be much more controllable and usable on smaller machines. It would also increase visibility because you'd be looking under the loader arms directly at the wood.
Love your products and dedication to quality in a world that loves to cut corners. Keep up the good work

Thanks for the feedback. Have looked at it both ways. I always thought this would be better for visibility as you wouldnt have to look past the arm

@@EastonmadeWoodSplitters I guess one big advantage for the long style splitter on a big machine is having the ability to split right onto a pile. I'd imagine most of your customers are buying these to split for boiler use. I have to split smaller for my two indoor stoves. I'll maybe have to build my own one day for my big tree service stuff I bring home.

@@jacobbruns4579 you are exactly right, I use mine to split for a boiler, I split onto a pile directly underneath a carport in my woodlot

Andrew is this a High or Standard flow splitter?

    • @EastonmadeWoodSplitters
      @EastonmadeWoodSplitters  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Flow doesnt matter to much. You do need a good size skid steer to run it. Weighs right around 1500lbs

I do it with my 22-28 haha. It will split that crap like its not even there. Oh, I lift it up with my mini skidsteer. I cheat lol.

How long wood will it split

  • @Alan_Hans__

For big stuff like 3, 4 , 5 ft diameter redgum I bust my guts and split it on a vertical splitter. Using the skid steer splitter just makes me curse the dozens of hours I've spent splitting big wood. It's not likely to change but I curse it nonetheless.

Eastonmade spliters look really good. I have had a skid loader spliter from another company but i sold it because you are tieing up a 80000 dollar skid loader to split wood absolutely don't make sense puting all those hours on a expensive machine and if the operator is not thebest it's sa total waste of time and Money just get a 22 28 it will split the big blocks the secert to spliting firewood is leaving the big blocks in the woods and spliting uniform pieces 18 to 20 in.

2 people could shred a lotta big stuff in a hurry into workable pieces.
