- Every failed midterm, confusing problem set or job rejection ended up being more bearable when you had friends around. But it all just ended on a random Tuesday in 2021 with no real closure or celebration.
Fast forward to today…2 years later where we all have somewhat stable jobs, we decided to go on a squad trip to Hawaii.
I’m sharing our journey and our trip here to motivate you if you’re stuck or struggling, just so you can see what it’s like on the other side. From struggling bums in university to living it up in Hawaii. Timestamps are as follows:

I am back in school for my 2nd bachelors. Something I noticed right away that is always presenting itself is the level of income the students come from in STEM vs liberal arts. I got my 1st degree in liberal arts, worked two full time jobs at 80 hours a week for years to pay for my degree/rent/bills etc. I am now working just a bit over 40 hours a week to pay for this STEM (ME and minor in maths) degree plus rent/bills/ give parents money every month etc. I am so surprised by the stability of STEM people. They almost always come from good homes and good income. The liberal art people usually come from very different environments and the mental health of liberal arts people is different too. I am glad I selected a STEM major because I am exposed to a whole different world with a different caliber of person. This is a nice video.

I’m a fellow Ontario Engineering graduate, and tbh I had undiagnosed adhd throughout undergrad, and I did well enough, but I struggle to go back and build on the content covered in undergrad.
I know from your stories that engineering was bare work, but you came out successful. Have you ever felt like you could recall parts of your degree for the work you do now? How did you relearn concepts if so?

Don’t think I’ll ever be successful, I’m not smart, I’m black and the odds is always against me. I don’t even wanna live anymore. Got 2 kids, just got out of jail. Can’t find a job. Worked as a deck hand before I went to jail fresh out of high school. Went to college I didn’t like it so I dropped. Went for political science. Just Chose anything because I didn’t and still don’t know what I wanna be. Wrec my car going to work on a physical demanding job. Now that I’m a felon nobody wanna hire me. Working as a Walmart delivery driver from my grandmother car. Life is not good or too bright for me right now. Wish I knew what I wanted to do so I wouldn’t be struggling stayin w my grandmother w 2 kids. At last I saved up 4 thousand dollars since release from jail. Still saving while I don’t have bills. I’m now 22 and feel like my times running out.. I’m getting too old to not know what I wanna be. I have a family I have to support now from my irrational decision making skills. I’m a mess… I’m truly a loser😞
