I have this pen, it’s one of my most comfortable to hold and write with.
Thank you for the classy presentations.
Thank you for the comprehensive review. I personally don't mind the big step between the sections as it improves my grip. I have had fountain pens with a smaller step and they used to screw open when writing. I think the 849 is great value for money.
The Jacques Herbin Bleu Ocean is beautiful!
Thank you, Tom.
Good presentation. The background music is great. Did they intend to obscure the name by the clip placement?
Very nice presentation
Did it take forever to prime? My wife got me one for Christmas, the same one you have here. I can't get the ink to flow. I'm not a fountain pen newby either.
Was the pen you used for the video a medium nib? I am a novice, just beginning my fountain pen adventure. Thank you.
Thanks.
Fantastic review, thanks. For reference, J. Herbin being a french name is pronounced "zhay herba'"
No it is not lol.
@@hb6747 no, it definitely is.
plastic section between the barrel and the nib will snap over time, just like my pilot diplomat.
Love this video. Do you know if this model can take an oblique broad nib? It's the widest nib they have, I think. Thank you.
No, this is a special, proprietary nib created just for the 849 fountain pen. It is only available in extra-fine, fine, medium, and broad point sizes.
Thank you!!!

@@GoldspotPens what size nib did you use for this presentation?
Is it normal that when I try to make fast marks, I see zero ink flow? Only when doing it slowly. Also is changing a nib a possibility? Thank you.
It could be possible with an extra-fine nib. If you write quickly, a medium and broad is recommended.
Can you tell me what converter you used?
Yes, this is the V2 Caran d'Ache converter - goldspot.com/products/caran-dache-v2-piston-pump-converter
@@GoldspotPens thanks! Do you think that I can use a regular standard converter from Amazon? Thanks.
Whats the name of the piano song used in the beginning of this video?
Grieg - Piano Concerto in A minor
I am worried if I should buy metal pens. Because they will eventually loose their finish over ten years?
If you take proper care of the pens, it should be able to hold its finish nicely.
so it's a rotring newton
Does it come with the converter?
No, the 849 fountain does not include a converter to start.
I didn’t find it your way
nice but too much, i think.
