It got snatched twice, possibly thrice. Karsus, not commenting on the 2e stuff, Shar and Cyric (look how well that turned out). The Mystra we have now, as far as I’m led to believe, is an amalgamation of all of them, receiving their memories through The Weave. She must be in a MOOD now 😂😂
@@Punishment90 But tbf, it wouldn't have hurt Helm to summon Ao to speak to her instead of just going "Nope". Clearly Ao wasnt even busy because he literally pops up after the fight and gives her companions a quest

yoooooooooooo! This is big news, Mystra is one of the deities that I have waited for so long to be in these episode, just cause of magic stuff. Already love it~
Helm is actually Lawful Neutral and was Mystra's lover. Seriously dedicated to his job. His one ever tear was shed over this. Everything Dad allowed Midnight to keep her human perspective and insight. Sadly, it still didn't save her. R.I.P. Mystra 2.0 :( Love the episode. You guys are the shiz ! Lore on.
I know that I already said this in the patreon channel but I am so happy that you finally covered Mystra. The first character I ever played was a human Cleric of hers. Celestia Kirkroad, Knowledge Domain. Celestia grew up in Mystra's Temple in the care of her Priests. When she was a baby she thought Mystra was her actual mother due to her not understanding what The Elven Priest meant when he said "Mystra is like a mother to us all." When she got older she understood what he meant but continues to address Mystra as her Mother in her prayers. I know I'm rambling but this episode just fills me with such love because of the beautiful relationship Mystra and Celestia had in that campaign. **MY HEART** ❤❤❤❤😭😍🥰
The campaign I dm dealt with these churches that are all technicolor and vibrant, so I needed a god to go with that. I chose Lliira goddess of party and color. Reading up on her apparently she worked under Selune and Mystra and now I know who they are. So thanks dungeoncast!
I was not looking forward to work this morning since tough stuff is going on there, but then I remembered I could listen to your new episode and that cheered me up.
The avatar trilogy was something I read when they were released. They caused me to read fantasy novels for the last 30 years. Dragonlance is probably my favorite, but it started with forgotten realms.
I have read the chapter books these events are from. Beyond the Elminster series, you have the Return of the Archwizards and Twilight war trilogies and more importantly about the creation of the spellplague, you have The Empreayan Odyssey trilogy which is right after the War of the Spider Queen and Lady Penitent trilogies (Those two are about drow). And please read the avatar series for the time of troubles episode lol
Thank you for this. I’m building a home brew world with a magic machine that is regulating time across all the planes but is focused on my world under my city on in the material plane. This helps me fill in gaps and tie that in with the tymora/Beshaba (they’re gonna fuse back into tyche) things I also have going on.
In regards to Shar's banishment to the "void", it's been referenced to at various times as various things. Notably, the Far Realms, The Negative Energy Plane, and the Plane of Shadow. I would personally rule the Plane of Shadow out, as Shar created it, if memory serves. Voidstones and the void card of the Deck of Many Things are both tied to the negative energy plane, so there is evidence for it to be the candidate. Though Shar was also capable of simply siphoning energy from it to create her own plane, the plane of shadows. I think a much better and more difficult prison to escape would be the Far Realm (Cthulhu place). I don't think gods have special powers there, it being specifically guarded against the influences of AO and his god posse by certain very powerful beings. So she'd have a hell of a time getting out of there. As a theory, I believe AO is either a singular enttiy or one of many entities of creation that fill the "void" with oasis of life and habitability within the "far realm". AO just chills and leta his godlings handle day to day, while he sleeps and soaks up power to prevent the "great old ones" from entering his oasis. If AO dipped, the whole bubble would probably collapse, and even if it didn't, there would be nothing stopping the great old ones from wrecking it. My expertise is only in Great Wheel Cosmology, so take all that with a grain of salt.
Just a detail here: Mystra is the goddess of magic of the HUMAN pantheon, as Corellon is the god of magic of the ELVEN pantheon. Although they have a portfolio in common (magic), they do not share the same pantheon. So an elven cleric of the magic domain would probably worship Corellon, as a human cleric of the same domain would probably worship Mystra. Not a rule, just a probability.
You can be born athletic, but you still gotta train to be a professional athlete. Likewise you can be born a Sorcerer but you gotta train/adventure to become powerful/level.
How gods/deities and magic work in DnD is one of the worst parts of that universe. How the weave works also always annoyed me and killed much of my interest in this universe. To each their own I guess just means DnD is not for me.
Mystra’s greatest power is having the one weave in the multiverse that cannot be snatched.
i mean, it literally DID get snatched
I laughed way harder than I should have
@@datamancy138 But only one time. She changed the laws of magic forever to prevent it happening again.

Slight correction: Helm is actually Lawful Neutral, hence his unflinching dedication to Ao's command.
Otherwise, really great episode.
Lawful Neutral... aka an asshole
Or at least thats how i, as a DM, play Lawful Neutral

Mystra: Mistress of Magic, Mother of Mystery.

I must make my players say this five times fast.
I don't get it
Sweet Lady Mystra! That’s a tongue twister 😂
Our Lady of Spells, The Weaver, The Road Ascending, The One True Spell. Or, if you’re in Rashemen, The Hidden One
