- Our patrol returns and we finally have some information from the outside but it doesnt look good. We will discuss record keeping and the lack of intel and information during wrol situation.

I like the way that your doing these videos. The scenarios that your putting out there are right on target, at least the way I think it could happen. I live close to a MAJOR city and if conditions permit I will bugout of here ASAP when it all goes down. I think the cities will turn into a major nut house first and then a killing ground for the people that are unprepared by roving mobs. Keep up the good work and Take Care. :-))
@RoofTopSurvivor Good question. Yes it would be alittle harder but you can us bags that you throw everything in and that bag has only one label on it and when you get back to your retreat someone else a non combative would inventory it. Your scavengers and security people have better things to do. Old people or ladies could do this very well.

I would give Mr. Peterson a chance to join the community, after a trail period.
He would stay with someone, work, earn the right to stay, if he wants to.
It would be good to have another man on a rifle if things get worse.
It would keep what was taken in the community, a man who can travel in that enviroment, will be someone who will stick to his guns, when things go bad.
The fact you all knew him would be a major plus on his behalf.

@yonny1954 - agree. Misdiagnosis (say treating a viral infection as if it were bacterial) would not only be useless, it would waste scarce antibiotics and delay/postpone the application of appropriate treatment. Some diseases are spread through eating infected food, others by vectors like mosquitoes, others through inhalation and yet others by touching infected items (tools, doorknobs etc.). Correct identification of the disease is vital to controlling its spread as well as targeting treatment.
@LivingHistorySchool Yes both are a wrol situation. I will go back in time and slowly let you all see how it started. I will go back to day 1 and fill in alot of empty spots but next Mr. Peterson fills in some of the blanks on conditions in other parts of the US.
I know only 2 people who believe this could happen. My sister and one friend. Friend was re-con vietnam. This video brought tears to my eyes. I became half lame early 08, can hardly walk, can't work. No job, no money over 3yrs. I am getting a taste of hard times already. Before I was very active. Made good money - 8 to 1200/wk. Loved to ride dirt, run beagles, spend weekends w/ son. Life is over for me. I surprise myself that I'm taking life as well as I am. Learn to count blessings in life!!!
Salvaging. In Kunstler's book "World Made by Hand", he has a leading character who has monopolized the rubbish tips, plundering, hardware trading etc.
Think through what skills you need to use the salvaged supplies. The skills needed will be different from today, when we can nip down to the nearest big box for supplies. For example, if you can't buy bolts, you need taps and dies and enough knowledge of metallurgy to choose suitable stock. Also manually-operated drill press. Blacksmithing too.

I just got through reading "One Second After", sound a lot like this novel.
I think more people should go out and do some hiking and hunting. It would be a good idea to know the terrain around you, BEFORE WROL happens. It would be vital info, that might just keep you and your loved ones, alive.
That was a very dangerous situation that the patrol put itself in and everybody else back at base. There is a possibility of Peterson leading them into an ambush or he could be used to bait your men. Communication cannot be stressed enough, the patrol needs to update C&C instead of going off to investigate mysteries without telling anyone. Their innocent decision to pursue Peterson could've resulted in a fate far worse than death.

As well as picking the best people for your community, ideally you will have amicable relations with a few other communities within a day's walk from your place. These are the people you will be linking up with.
If the reports of cannibalism in the city are acurate, you can bet you will see gangs of road agents moving into the country side to set up "hunting" territories. Just like packs of wolves or lion prides they will hunt as a group and take prey of opportunity. seperate individuals from the herd, go after the young and elderly, etc. This scenario actually played out during the seige of lenningrad during ww2. Gret video.
Another top video, SP! Your scenarios are both realistic and rich and you have a way of setting us all to thinking. Kunstler's book "World Made by Hand" is a look into the future set a couple of years after the WROL - highly recommended.
You provided shoes to a transient. I have stocked up on items to give to transients that will give them a greater capacity to move on (knives, small knife sharpening stones, sewing kits, iodine, bandages etc.) so they don't hang around if not wanted.
Last night on blogtv we were discussing looting and when it is justified and here was my take on it:
Good people should "loot" all the guns & ammo they can to keep them out of the hands of the bad guys. You should write down what you took and where u took it so you can return it or pay for it if things return to normal. If a gang manages to get to the local gun shop first and loot everything there nobody in your town will be safe.
@ReadyPrepper Interesting dream. Nobody in the inner city has seeds to plant though, and even if they did they'd starve before anything came up. And most will starve before they establish themselves in countryside, having nowhere to go, no seeds to plant, no food to take with them, only one tank of gas to get there, roads clogged with empty cars... The only safeguard during WROL is to have a nice secluded farmstead, far away from from the masses. I'm speaking to the choir though.

Well if your shortwave can recieve sideband at 9pm your time tune your radio to 3.818 mhz LSB for the american prepairedness radio network.. sun and thursMore than likely your going to have to add a external antenna.. short term any pice of conductive wirt cut to at least 33ft .. 65 ft woild be better 240ft copper is best
I enjoy the moral lesson about paying back what you harvest. In the long run, good always prevail despite the scenario you present.
You have a great imagination and storytelling ability. You should consider writing a series on this topic and star in the production. It would be a very entertaining and informative TV mini-series.

@yonny1954 - I lived a few years in Papua New Guinea and found that people born in that country thrived in what we would regard as insanitary conditions. Outsiders like me picked up some of their immunity as we let our own standards adapt to theirs.
Food safety is not as delicate or risky an issue as some people think. Most fresh meat, for example, smells "off" well before it's a health risk to an adapted person. Make moonshine - as an antiseptic! Human waste disposal is as important as you say

There is no such thing as civilians any more any and all abed boded persons able to bare arms is a soldier. Watch Panic in Year Zero from the 1960s. Really one of the first ever shtf wrol movies ever made.
If anybody is looking for a good HAM rig go to Amazon and type in Baofeng UV-5R, and don't be fooled by supposed upgraded models, that is the one you want because of the accessories. Since these radios are so cheap you can afford to buy extras and pass them out. You can even get AA or AAA 6x battery packs and use your rechargable batteries in them. If you use Alkaline you put 5 in with a blank because 6x1.5 volt exceeds voltage limits. You can't buy the AA adapter on Amazon though, Google it.
@yonny1954 but thats assuming everyone has an excess amount of clothes, i guess you could have people walking around naked.... but that wouldnt work in winter
as far as socks and stuff, what about the limited wildlife you find? Do you know how to tan the hides to make blankets? Moccasins?
Your scenario has it 71 days since the WROL began. I suspect that - at the time - we won't know the exact date it begins. There will be WROL in vulnerable communities (urban renters) before it extends to more resilient areas (rural homesteaders). It may be months before many people realize they are in WROL. Stock up now, but don't assume electricity supplies, that your mechanical tools will not break down. And don't be a sucker for businesses that use fear of WROL to rush you into buying stuff.
@yonny1954 Worrying about leprosy is not a priority of mine 70 days into WROL. Since I will be involved in my towns SHTF preperations, I don't see instituting quarintines unless a specific threat has arose or we are long into WROL.

This is a very good scenario.
I'd like to hear from Mr. Peterson if the government is still in power in some places. The currency may be trash now, but maybe they're confiscating food and supplies to keep the troops on board. I hope they don't have the fuel to reach your community. I'd hate for you to have to protect your property from the ones who used to protect it for you.

@yonny1954 - typhus, plague and anthrax are unlikely, but not impossible. Do you have someone who can recognize the symptoms of these and other diseases (and not confuse one with the other) and deal with them appropriately?

really liking the scenario your setting up. but what are your thoughts on when you do run out of gear and food and the town is scavenged clean. our what about when that person passing through tells someone else how nice you guys are and gave them a pair of shoe and the person or group they told wants more. just provoking some thought.

@KazzoKiller3890 This is a series of scenario that deals with a collapse of our system and a group of people try to survive and they are faced with different problems and its made to put you in the story and see if you could solve the problem or think thru it. Its to work on your mindset.
