I hate to admit it, but Pat is right he’s the 3rd most talented player on the team, DHAM didn’t do him any favors. I can definitely see him taking a step this season how far we will see.

Nah, DLo or Reaves are the 3rd most talented, but I agree he needs to do his thing

Rui is a talent at scoring, and Bev is right, Hachimura probably should take the 2nd most shots on the team , AD being 1 and LBJ is also going to be facilitating. He had some 30 point games and 9 3s? 8 ? He is as
He must improve rebounding, and 19 points, 8 rebounds avg is a reasonable goal, that would make the lakers a top teaming the league 😊 If rui takes shots , lbj and AD will feast on o boards

The Lakers would have been a #5 Playoff Seed if the GM had used veteran free agency to sign a 6’6 Big Guard with a Defense 1st Mentality to PLAY BOTH WINGSPOTS DEFENSIVELY.
That would have kept Hachimura the backup Power Forward because of his poor athleticism on defense against NBA Small Forwards.

As much as it kinda pains me to say it, but Pat Bev is correct, Rui needs to become more versatile, and utilize his physical frame and 3-level scoring ability to increase his touches and point averages to make him a more reliable 3rd option. Furthermore, at 6'8 230lbs with a 7'2 wingspan, as well as displaying very great athleticism, strength and agility, he can definitely become a very capable and reliable defensive player that can guard the 2-4.

Pat Bev should go and Coach already or do something like Player Development.
I think he can really benefit a lot of teams.

It’s just my assumption though : it’d kinda be because of his growing up environment. I too grew up in Japan, now live outside of it (France) and hooping non pro level. And I got the same reactions “be more agressive, be more confident”. When you are once part of a Japanese club in school years, most of coaches train you as “you exist for the team, not vice versa”. If you do some NBA style iso, you’d be immediately out of the roaster for being selfish. It could be generational though, at least my generation was strictly like that so was Rui’s I suppose. It’d sometime be a strength to being extremely, from the occidental point of view, humble but also a curse that “not able to be agressive because we grew up being said not to be socially”. Even compared to other Asian culture, Japanese one requiring be “non individualist for everything” is on an extreme level.
I might recommend Rui to naturalize US citizenship to change his mind set even the law forces him to abandon Japanese one if he serious about being top of the league.

  • @dominicjherr

I disagree with the sentiment that Rui isn't aggressive, relative to his role on the team. He isn't the focus of the offense, like that. Nor, does he have the ball enough to do what some people are asking of him. That said, Rui has the skills to score more. This is shown by how his scoring goes up, when LeBron sits out games. And, also when he plays for team Japan. But, under usual circumstances, he's somewhere around the 5th option for the team. Which is commiserate with guys like Taurean Prince, in regards to offensive opportunities.
That said, do I wish for the Lakers to utilize Rui more, in the offense? Yes, as that's his strength. He's more than a spot up three point shooter (which he drastically improved as a Laker). But, Ham wasn't the coach for that type of offensive strategy. Reddick says his style will incorporate more team/ball movement, while making AD the fulcrum of the offense. We'll see what that means for team/player success...

The team has two leaders and if they want/ need production from Rui they need to tell him to shoot. The other thing is position, they have 3 players that want to play PF, and it’s a requirement for 2 of them. When Bron has been out, Rui has cooked… can he be more aggressive and contribute? Yes, but play him at the right position and then assess what he is providing the team.

RUI!!! 💜💛😈💛💜 - criminal that Ham didn't start him, never established his rhythm or got him in his spots - BRON KNOWS he told the media Rui needs a bigger role. LBJ usually passive agressive tweeting about it, with this, he straight said it. 💯💯💯

They want Rui Hachimura to compensate for not having a NBA veteran 2-Guard that actually compliments his point guard as a catch & shoot weapon behind the 3-point line.

Rui is limited on D. Not bad, limited. Guarding centers and movement shooters is not ever going to work for him. He needs to be matched to bruiser 4s. Problem is that puts Bron in chase which is never happening.

I believe it would be a mistake to try and establish certain options or factors. In my view, you ideally want everyone's shot to be "in flow. "...not your shot, pass it. If you don't have chemistry and flow, people begin to stand around, waiting for their "turn". We've all seen it. Finally, the amount of money? That's some "I massa, you slave" bs. A player's job is his "job." If he does his job, he's earned his pay. Just like YOUR job! Stop hating!

He has the same problem most of the Lakers have: the inability to effectively shoot or pass when dribbling over four times. Just look at the video and count how many times he dribbles more than four times. This means he has to often be in the right position to shoot while getting fed. Having so many players with such similar profiles makes it easier for teams to scheme the Lakers' offense by forcing the ball out of James' hand and into the hands of players like Hachimura, Russel, and Reaves making them shoot off the dribble where they often struggle against vs bigger faster players with fast hands and feet.

I don’t think he should just put his head down and attack the rim on every play (I’m actually glad he stopped trying to do that), but he does need to look for his shot a bit more and not pass up 3pt shots. The ladder of which are still minor problems.

    • @GuerillaBless

I don't understand why people say it's hard to play with bron when you get hella shots up when you play with him. He's going to pass the ball as long as you aggressive and not scared of the moment. Everybody who played with bron says they loved playing with him so saying it's hard to play with bron is a false narrative as usual

    • @lildex1633
      @lildex1633 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@GuerillaBless because he himself is a system and not everyone can play to their fullest potential in that system…just like Luka. Yes you get hella shots but you also are not all that free out there either….Lebron is also heavy ball dominate at the 4 position. Takes the ball out of a Natural point guard’s hand, hold the ball for a long time as well. The evidence is there. If your having a bad shooting night you can loot be on the floor with Bron unless your absolutely reeking havoc on defense cause you ain’t bout to run the offense enough to be effective with him on the floor. Even now at 40 Steph got turned into a catch bonafide role player on the team USA team. Holiday turned into a corner shooter and booker turned into a cut/ give and go player. Your minimized playing with Lebron point blank period. If you can find a way to make it work you look really good next to him but if not you look like HOT GARBAGE. Plus you get blamed for everything when playing with him too. It’s not a narrative it’s facts both him and Luka. Luka not as bad though

Answer that bro don’t get in your feelings about facts because role players found success playing with him cause they can’t do shit on their own.
