My guy, that smooth groups brush has been bugging me for years! I thought people were using the normal smooth and holding a modifier or something. Seriously been puzzling me for years! You literally enriched my life, thank you!
Wow this is great! Most Z-brush tutorials assume you already know where everything is, but Chervenka not only tells you where the tools are, but why you should use them! Keep it up guys and thanks, I think my confidence went up to try zbrush again!
How did you hollow out the helmet to get the wall thickness needed, also what would be a general thickness to use for the wall size thickness? Great tutorial and thank you for sharing!
That was awesome! I've never seen a full zbrush sculpt done this way before and it makes me certain I want to try it myself. I'll probably do my first model with animation in mind though, because the idea of how many hours it will take to retopologize it properly for a game model, even with normal baking, makes me want to cry. But this was really fantastic, so thanks!
A special treat indeed! Wow what an amazing tutorial! This has answered so many questions for me, and will save me a lot of time in the future! Thank you Henry and Mike! En groeten uit Almere ;-)
Great tutorial. It would be helpful if there were an overlay making clear which keys he's pressing when he does shortcuts as he doesn't always signify that verbally.
Mike, you are being one of the main responsible in my graduate training in 3d computer graphics!! Thank you, thank you so much!! (Sorry if writing something wrong, my english is not the best. I'm from São Paulo - Brazil). :D
Awesome tutorial Mike, and thank you for delving into Zbrush! Henry, you may have just saved my ass for my final school projects, lol. I've discovered that I like Zbrush MUCH better than Maya. Do you have any recommendations for other videos to watch for the texturing part? I'm fairly lost on there
such an amazing tutorial.. i took notes the whole time and I love you Henry for this.. you too Mike.. you guys are fucking amazing.. Totally sharing this with my zbrush pals. Godspeed..;
Fantastic Tutorial!... the best I saw among many others on hard surface! You opened a new horizon for me! So very thanks. Just missed one point: how delete a polygroup? I mean when you show nose and mouth of the model under the helmet. I did not get the shortcut or the brush or whatever to do delete a polygroup. 2nd: why my Projection Strenght is inactive and I cannot activate? I do not have IMM Train among my default brushes
To delete a polygroup, CTRL+SHIFT click on the polygroup you want to delete. Then CTRL+SHIFT drag on an empty space on the canvas to inverse the selection. Go to the Tool palette, under the Geometry subpalette>Modifiy Topology you will see Del Hidden. That will delete a polygroup... The IMM Train is now located in LigthtBox>Brush>Insert-IMM
In C4D I can split and group individual items to work on seperately, is there a way to do this in Zbrush? I'm new to the software and find C4D easy to navigate.
i have a problem, when i draw a selection for polygroups, it copies that selection on the other side. for example, if i draw a circle selection on the right ear the same circle appears also on the left. i tried turning off symmetry and everything but doesnt make a change PLEASE HELP!!!!!!
DarkWinter (If you want to panel loop or group loop a single polygroup) Click ctrl + shift on the polygroup. When your group is isolated, click group loops or panel loops. (Be sure to have "mask by polygroups" to 100 to move the group independently)
Hello can anyone help with this? See those sharp edges around the face? I am trying to make those parts wider. LIke blocky edges, but zbrush won't allow me to no mater how many polygons i have. If i start sculpting on those parts it just make it thinner on the other side. It has like 2m poligons and i even dynameshed it and it has my holes in it.
When you started sculpting on the thin edges around the face, did you turn on BackfaceMask? (Located in the brush palette, under the Auto Masking subpalette)
Thanks I shared it with my group. (AVTPro 3D Group_on FaceBook) I learned a few tips that I hadn't used in a long time. I just finished a few helms so this was good to see.
Hello Mike! I would love to do a guest tutorial on character dev, and retopo, with proper edge flow.. Maybe around an hour long?? Please email me or message me if you are interested. I would not charge anything, just to spread the knowledge. It could be done over the summer.
Heriberto, thanks for the offer but Herny earned his spot as a guest tutor by winning my challenge twice. The intention is to allow him to show his skills to a large audience through my channel. I would not be fair to let others do the same ... sorry

OCDTraci I would highly recommend Pixologic classroom on their website. They have a few videos on texturing in Zbrush that is great for beginners.

Thanks a lot
Thanks!👍
At 6:18 you had me in a loop :)
Thanks a lot, great tuto but i cant understand one thing.... The moment you re-dynamesh, all the polygroups edges get messed...
man you are crazy
how did you isolate the IMM's on the solitary groups, when I tried, it just filled everything around and above
In C4D I can split and group individual items to work on seperately, is there a way to do this in Zbrush? I'm new to the software and find C4D easy to navigate.
SUPERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR LIKE
sir, how to texture a wood box which i create in zbrush, help me sir,.. thanks in advance
its awsome, but do this guy do another tuto ?
No
Should've shown the whole process and just use time stamps, having difficulties with the slice tool.
i have a problem, when i draw a selection for polygroups, it copies that selection on the other side. for example, if i draw a circle selection on the right ear the same circle appears also on the left. i tried turning off symmetry and everything but doesnt make a change PLEASE HELP!!!!!!
Hide the side of the mesh you don't want new polygroups added by the slice brushes.
@@henrychervenka2166 thank you!!! It works
I can’t seem to get the groups to act alone when I hit panel loops
DarkWinter (If you want to panel loop or group loop a single polygroup) Click ctrl + shift on the polygroup. When your group is isolated, click group loops or panel loops. (Be sure to have "mask by polygroups" to 100 to move the group independently)
