This reminds me of when i saw a real ant battle.I was making my way to my neighbors and right in the middle of the road,was lots and lots of ants.I was so surprised becuase i thought that ant battle was them biting eachother(they did bite eachother but not in the way i imagined it).The ants just stocked togethere in big balls and it looked so weird but at the same time i was amazed.
I saw one to, it was fire ants fighting a colony of wood ants and the wood ants were shooting acid at the fire ants. I think the fire ants were winning but I am not sure. I also saw a colony of ants attack a termite nest
A strategy that I do for multiple entrances or exits is that the phenomins(I think I spelled that wrong) is that I have a team guarding each side while the workers collect food and expand

I have an ant story. When I was a youth, I lived near some train tracks. There were numerous fire ant nests along them. My friend had the crazy idea that we should stuff our hands in one. Here’s the thing about fire ant venom: it doesn’t really hurt at first. So we were crouched there, smirking at our hands covered in biting ants, thinking we were so tough. It took a couple of minutes for the pain kicked in... I can’t say it felt like the ants’ fire namesake. It felt like red hot needles stabbing all over, combined with a sort of deep ache similar to what rose thorns cause. I very pointedly have never stuck my hands in another ant nest. I strongly assume my friend hasn’t either. 🔥 🐜 🔥

Personally I like the mixing things together. I put storage around the queen 2-3 spots all the way around her. Then build the workers etc around that.This way the food isn’t far from no one. The queen is surrounded by food. The others surround the food. So 3 rings of food. One ring of workers and one ring of soldiers. That’s the main team.then I build the pockets of like you are talking about. Just the queen and her team is the biggest area.
I tracked down the demo based on your videos - GREAT game. Cant wait for future development. The devs need to blast out some EA. Honestly it has the old clicky goodness of Warcraft or Diablo.
Heres my ant story well red ant story when i was like 6 or something me and my mom and dad went to Thailand we went to an outside restaurant or something and i was playing close to some vines and some trees and i found some red ants i was curious and looked at the tiny creatures do stuff then one crawled up on my leg and bit my leg it was burning and then i told my mom i got bit and stuff and they did stuff to my “wound” and now i kinda hate red ants that my ant/red ant story!
The gaming beaver if they added the bullet and empires of the undergrowth it would be so good for taking down enemies that you could just have a little bullet ant they just do so much damage that killed So many of the ants that you face and they can't even take down the big bugs big black bugs and if you go back into a 1.1 and they still have the bullet they could take out those big bugs big white bugs

All of a sudden a mass of small, red ants began swarming out from all sides of the rock. I jumped off the rock before any got on me and flipped the halves of the stone off of what turned out to be a gigantic fire ant nest. it was crazy.
There were lots of ants eating in the house me and my dad tried to spray them and kill them because I don't like ants they diden'y die and then we grabbed something to kill fly's instead of killing fly's we killed the ants with it
there is a timer in the middle, top of the screen which once it counts down to zero will let out some ants or other bugs from the unexplored food stashes
